CôBa Ratings and Reviews
We have eaten at CoBa many times starting with when it first opened. Although the geographical location is rather out of the way, it is most certainly worth making the journey to get to it. The food is outstanding as is the service. Delicious cocktails too. Increasingly, one needs to reserve a table way ahead of time as It is only a small space.
Damon and his team at Coba has definitely created a hit worth the 20 minutes hike (or 10m bus ride) from Kings Cross. I'm not the kind to travel out of my way for food (especially since Vietnamese is ubiquitous in Shoreditch) but as I said to Damon, he's ruined vietnamese food for me now since it makes me sad when I dine somewhere else. Yes, IT IS THAT GOOD.
You can share the starters, but why would you? They are all fantastic and you need to order at least one of everything. Last time I went, I had to miss out on his excellent pho and ordered 3 starters instead (problem of not having more than 2 people).
The cocktails are good, the starters are phenomenal, the pho is much better than anything we've tasted elsewhere in London. The staff and the place are amazing as well. I might not recommend it for a proper "date night" but otherwise Coba is great for all occasions.
If the only thing you can complain about is a little bracing walk to whet your appetite and to help you overcome overindulging on too many starters, it's a winner.
A perfect place for a meet with old friends... Having a fragile tooth eating so carefully (with a knife & folk!) I enjoyed every bit! Summer rolls- Delish! BBQ spicy chicken salad - Juicey! Vegetarian pho- Moreish! Dessssert passionfruit cake with mango syrup - Mooore!
Happily go there, make sure you book as small venue
Highly recommend the lamb chops and butter chicken from the starter menu. Prawn toast was good too but the lamb and chicken stood out for me. I had the beef pho - delivately spiced, really yummy. It's a bit of a trek from King's Cross but well worth it! The desserts were divine - we had and caramel pudding and a mango pudding.
Delicious Vietnamese food at a decent price. A small choice of dishes but great flavours for everything we tried. Particularly delicious were the BBQ's Lamb Cutlets, the signature Prawn Toast (like nothing I've had before) and the Duck Ramen. We were a bit early so had cocktails at the bar which were another highlight.
I'd heard so many great things about this recently opened Vietnamese restaurant in Kings Cross, that it was amazing to finally experience it for myself, with my high expectations not just met but exceeded. From the moment we walked in the venue had a great ambience to it, with the wait staff attentive and professional. The bar staff were fantastic and I'd highly recommend other visitors sample one of their cocktails as they are created like a work of art. For starters we had the chicken wings, spring rolls, and the prawn toast, the latter of which being their signature dish. All were fantastic with the prawn toast in particular wanting me coming back for more. For mains we tried the BBQ beef in betal leaves and lamb chops specials, which like the starters were expertly crafted and cooked to perfection. I can't wait to return to Coba and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to eat in the area.
I thoroughly enjoy my visits to CoBa. Food is fantastic, as are the drinks, and the service is friendly and attentive. My only negative is that as it's getting more popular, I know have to book rather than chancing it with a walk in. I wish the guys well and they are a welcome addition to the neighbourhood.
The food in CoBa was very good, especially the starters we had - crab and prawn spring rolls and lamb cutlets - but value (£8 for 2 small cutlets) was very questionable. Pho and ramen were good if not as great as the starters. Service was friendly, so even if prices could be a bit friendlier I'd definitely go again.
Lovely little place newly opened. Service is good, food was good - only negative is the lamb chop starter special was very pricey for the portion. There was one decent sized piece with the second piece half the size! And £11 for the main salads felt pricey for the portion as well. If it was slightly cheaper I would go more often as I live locally.
