Cockliffe Country House Restaurant
Came up as a fine dining choice and the menu was varied.
The food was fine.
The seating area was hot and musty (was the hottest day of the year though) so maybe choose a cooler day!
The cutlery was a bit under shined / ? Washed?
The bread was lovely (sour dough) and the fish main was good too.
Soggy chips :(
Nice drive out but not one I'll repeat.
Nothing wrong though...
The dining room was elegant and the tables were beautifully dressed. Very attentive staff couldn't do enough for us. Kept us supplied with lots of tea and coffee. The sandwiches were excellent and the scones were fresh, the desserts were unusual and very tasty. We will certainly be visiting again, and will recommend it to our friends.
We went to Cockcliffe Hotel on a Tuesday lunch time for mine & my husbands birthdays with 2 friends. The place is clean but quite shoddy & run down & in need of a lot of tlc. We arrived at 12.30 for a pre booked lunch. There was no one on reception but we only waited a few minutes before a young lady appeared & seated us in the restaurant which was empty at that point. She was very attentive; taking coats, bringing menus, etc. After reading on review sites that people had enjoyed set lunch menus we were disappointed to discover that there was only the a la carte menu available, and not a lot of choice on that. We didn't have starters as, of the 4 choices, there was nothing we fancied. There was 4 or 5 choices of main meal & our chosen mains arrived after about 15-20 minutes, by which time 2 more couples had arrived & been seated. I had salmon, the other 3 in our party had the chicken pie. There were no vegetables or potatoes with the pies, these had to be purchased separately for £2.50 each. My salmon came with a selection of veggies & potatoes. All the food was delicious: hot, perfectly cooked & served and, although there didn't appear to be much on the plates containing the pies, (which were home made & full of filling, and came in individual dishes) there was enough for my companions together with the extra dishes of fries they had ordered. Had they been big eaters they would have needed to order dishes of vegetables as well. None of us fancied the poor selection of sweets that were on offer. Overall for the 4 of us for a 1 course meal, bottle of wine & 2 beers we paid £65.0. Although we all enjoyed what we had, I won't be returning until the place has been decorated & the menu has a better choice so unfortunately I couldn't recommend Cockcliffe Hotel at present.
Really enjoyed the three course meal.Attended early evening on the 22/12/2015.I would rate the starter and desert as 5 out of 5 and the main as 4 out of 5.My food choices were caramelised onion and goats cheese tart, sea bass followed by chocolate Torte with rasberries. All the dishes were full of flavour ,i have rated the seabass as only 4 out of 5 as did not enjoy this quite as much as the other courses.
Service and food excellant,we attended the restaurant at the same time of year the previous year and found it equally enjoyable. At £25 for 3 courses i think its good value when you consider the quality of the food , the excellant service and ambience in the restuarant. We will definately be returning
Enjoyed a meal with the wife at Cockliffe House on Halloween. Staff - Excellent, Food - Excellent, Overall - Excellent...................can't really say fairer than that!
Good food pity we were the only ones in the restaurant need other diners to add to the room otherwise a very nice evening
It's usually only people with a gripe that leave feedback and those satisfied don't realise the overall negative effect on a business through those who were well satisfied failing to say how well they enjoyed their experience in these reviews.
Without doubt from my experience, this restaurant does not deserve the negativity that I have read. Sure the place would benefit from some money spent on the décor but the warmth of the staff, their service and quality of food does the Cockcliffe proud and I would recommend to anyone.
We arrived just past 7 O'clock for a booking at 7:30 pm, and no-one was about to welcome us for about 15 minutes. When taking our pre dinner drinks, I ordered Pimms and was asked if I would like a mixer with it, so I had to explain that Pimms came with lemonade, fruit and mint leaves.
We then had a limited choice from the menu and were not informed of the Specials which were available. The wine list was extensive but we were told to choose and they would see if they had it as they were running stock down. The meal was lovely ; but not enough and the price did not reflect this. On receiving our bill, it was incorrect and needed returnng to be checked, all in all we would not recommend this place.
Outstanding food and excellent service. Can't wait to go back!
This is the second time we've visited Cockliffe. The first time the food wasn't quite up to the make but the service was excellent & very professional.
This time however we went with a view to possibly getting married there & the opposite happened: the food was fantastic, exactly the standard I would expect, however the service was not polished enough to carry off the prices charged at this venue. A massive shame
We used the Hotel and Restaurant in the past and was pleasantly surprised that it had gone up in both the standard of food and service. We had a delightful meal and although off the beaten track we would recommend that it is worth finding this gem.
Loved the feel of the place as soon as we walked in. Was shown into the bar to have a drink whilst looking over the menu. The waiting staff had it timed just right before coming back up to take our orders.
We were then taken through to our table that was very well presented. I went for the Salmon, followed by apple crumble, whilst my partner had the beef, followed by chocolate brownie and both agreed that the food was delicious, including the desserts.
The staff were courteous, and polite when checking on our meal. The only issue was that when the bill was first presented, it was incorrect. They were very apologetic about this, and recitfied it immediatley. This was the only blip on a wonderful experience.
I would definitley recommend
Dined at Cockliffe house on 7th January 2014 for my birthday. It was faultless in every respect! Whilst we expected the food to be ok, in a typical hotel-restaurant-type way, it actually surpassed expectations at all levels. Food was perfectly cooked, tasted absolutely fresh and had fabulous flavours. The menu was short (4 choices for each course) but that was a good thing as it meant that the chef could concentrate his energies on cooking everything to a top class standard.
Service was also excellent - unobtrusive, efficient, yet friendly. We also thought the bill was VERY reasonable!
Beautiful building too - we will definitely return and will also book a room next time.
Can't recommend Cockliffe House highly enough. Thank you!
We prebooked a meal at this restaurant and had looked at the menu befirehand which looked very good. On the day we were told that we coukd only pick from the set menu which was a disappointment. However the food was lovely and we had an enjoyable evening.
We had lunch in their small mirrored dining room which holds less than 20 people. Cockliffe has the look of a grand country house but on a small scale. The food was beautifully presented and of good quality. This venue is very good for weddings and special occasions, also corporate events. It is a little difficult to find, but worth the effort to get there. Altogether, it is very special.
We had a very enjoyable lunch at the Cockliffe Country House Hotel. The great service started the moment we were greeted at the doo and continued until the moment we left. The food was very good and beautifully presented and everyone of our guests enjoyed their afternoon. The best surprise for us was the bill, very reasonable indeed for great food and great service we experienced. We'll definately be returning for more.
Cockliffe is set in a lovely location and the food is excellent (except my dessert), but I found the service to be quite poor. The staff weren't very attentive and never checked to see if the food was ok. They were also a little over familiar and slightly unprofessional, one of the waitresses just put the plates on the table wherever/however it was convenient for her without thinking that I might actually want my plate in front of me in order to eat from it.
The starter and Sunday roast were both excellent, but the sticky toffee pudding had been reheated in the microwave a little too long, and was a bit rubbery.
The one other thing that let the Cockliffe down were the gardens, which needed attention.
We dined on a Monday night, so we had a nice quiet meal. The staff were attentive and welcoming. All our food was fresh, delicious and well presented.
Mise en Place, London
Delicious food and friendly service.
Dinner at Mise en Place on Fulham Road. An intimate restaurant in a convenient South Kensington/Chelsea location. Food was excellent; wine list a little short on reasonably priced wines. The bar area has a wall mounted TV which remained on during the evening, a distraction which seemed a little out of context with the location and quality of food.
mise en place, fulham rd.
extremely friendly. Staff very welcoming, helpful and knowlegable. A very pleasant dining experience.
Very nice restaurant with good decor and excellent service. The restaurant has just opened in June and is a little quiet, however I was really impressed with the friendliness of the staff and would definitely recommend-especially with 20% off!
We had a fantastic meal at Mise En Place. The menu has a number of really interesting dishes and we knew in advance that they specialise is really excellent steaks with top notch beef. Even so, we were all surprised by the huge cuts of soft tender fillet with delicious sauce. However the standard of all of our dishes was really great. In particular we thought that the two fish dishes really stood out as special.
Decent sized tables, very tempting wine list and friendly casual atmosphere.
