About
Cool Cat's Café's name is slightly misleading as the feel is very much of a restaurant than a café. The décor and food are as good as quality trendy restaurants in Islington/Shoreditch but the ambiance is more relaxed, aided by the friendly but not intrusive waiting staff. I've just moved in to the area and see Cool Cats as a potential home from home. It also has live music on on many nights. The website shows mainly images of performers who look in their early twenties, but my resultant fear of feeling like an 'oldie' (being in my forties) was completely misplace. Highly recommended.
We walk in into an empty place and were sitting oppposite the front door as we were the only table booked. Drinks were order with platter to share from the start we can see the food was less than average .We order our main course and me and one of my guest wanted our beef cooked blue I think the waitress didnt know what we were talking about as she didnt have a clue !!!.our beef arrive over cooked (mine was medium well and my guest welldone and both were burn from a grill who it seems never been clean. A BIG disapointement all the way .We had a quiet enough at this time and it was very expensive for a cafe . IT IS A BIG NO FOR ME .Parkcafe in Burgesspark is much better but only open day time so evening we will have to go to East Dulwich
We first visited Cool Cats Cafe late on a Sunday afternoon in summer 2013 and really enjoyed the feel of the place, not to mention the tasty craft beer and nibbles. We spotted the valentines menu (and mention of a 1am late bar!) and thought that it would be the place for us, even though we don't live quite as close by any more. The food was tasty, the veggie options were thoughtful and the staff were chatty and provided good service. House wine was pretty good too! And because it was Friday, there was also live music. Bonus :)
I assume the cafe was short of staff and maybe some friends helped out that day? The food was good; nothing outstanding, but of decent quality as far as a Full English breakfast goes. The cafe itself is lovely, really nice, very light and airy. However the service dwindled down to one valiant man by the time we left and he seemed to be responsible for everything. Ordering a bottle of prosecco from the other staff was met with a look of utter confusion; the lady taking the breakfast order was so unsure of herself managing to get a simple order wrong (impressive when the options were limited to Meat / Veggie breakfast...). We took the prosecco out of her hands when she confessed she couldn't open it and looked like she might blind someone.
Very warm welcome at Cool Cats Cafe. The service is very friendly, and the food is lovely. We went on a Friday night when there was live music. There is a garden at the back of the cafe, maybe not so good in January, but I am sure it would be lovely on a summer afternoon.
Great atmosphere, friendly service. Part of the community
Visited CC for the first time a couple of weeks ago for a late lunch with a good friend. We had a lovely time, good food, good service, overall a great place to chill. Will definately be visiting this little gem again, especially as it's within walking distance.
