We're all about simple food done well with a laid-back & non-fussy approach. Think tables full to bursting with wood-fired chicken, charred corn, sweet potato fries and homemade slaw washed down with a pint or two of the local brew.
Whether you are looking to hire the whole venue (capacity 50), a large family booking, a table for two or a lone-wolf business type you'll be met with a warm welcome and some of the finest chicken around at COOP Chicken House.
For groups of eight or more please contact us directly to book tables either by phone or email.
Was very tasty / tender chicken but not huge for £15 for a full chicken...? you'd probably pay £2.50 for a chicken this size.
Service was good though.
Sides were good - great coleslaw.
Sauces weren't that great - a shot for £2 bit steep in my opinion...
It was freezing!! so it spoilt the lunch really....we moved but it was still quite cold.
Great little place. Chicken is amazing. Good choice of spices and different sauces to accompany meal. Great for families no extra for kids meal
Great little gem of a place. Chicken was delicious and the options for accompanying sauces was endless. Lovely, friendly, helpful staff. I had the 1/2 chicken with fries and 3 of the sauce shots; each one was fantastic. But a great night had by all and I will definitely be back.
Buzzing place with good, fairly quick service. Like a much, much better Nandos - juicy, tasty grilled chicken, a whole menu of sauces, simple sides and good craft beer. Didn't try the puds but they looked good.
Really great chicken.
Good value and pleasant surroundings. Attentive and enthusiastic staff
Always a great meal here. They do chicken. With lots of different sauces. That's all you need to know! Great place
Great meal with the family, will definitely again soon
The food was good but ironically given that it's a chicken restaurant it wasn't cheap!
The service was average at best. Could I suggest the occasional more experienced member of staff?
Three of us dined here having made a reservation through Open Table. We have dined here before and always enjoyed it. Interesting decor, very quiet and pleasant ambience. As the name suggests the restaurant specialises in, in fact is nearly exclusively based on, barbecued chicken. There are a few side dish options, all of which go very well with the chicken and one of the big attractions is the large range of "hot sauces" in varying degrees of heat. We tried four different ones all very tasty and we included one of the "nuclear" options which was brutal. Great for those of us who like seriously chilli spiced food.
Really nice relaxed place to eat, we cleaned our plates and left nothing but chicken bones.
We will definitely visit again.
Very tasty meal, food and service great but £15 for a roast chicken without any sides is way too expensive.
This wasn't my first visit to Coop and it won't be my last. Splendid chicken, excellent sides and great sauces. If you haven't been then go, you won't regret it.
Excellent food. Chicken was so tasty. The alcohol was a bit expensive. £6.25 for a medium glass of red wine. But overall a good experience with a relaxing environment.
Used a Itison voucher. Good value obviously. Liked the fact it was a very reduced menu so specialism in one thing. Chicken was very well cooked. Took ages for staff to take our order but they apologised with a complimentary sauce
GREAT SETTING FOR AN ALTERNATIVE SUNDAY LUNCH.
FOOD WAS FANTASTIC AND PLENTIFUL, I DON'T KNOW HOW THEY MAKE IT SO TASTY.!
THE DECOR IN THE COOP CHICKEN HOUSE IS COOL AND CASUAL PROVIDING A LOVELY ATMOSPHERE.
ALL STAFF WERE EFFICIENT AND FRIENDLY.
A GREAT FIND.
Bit of a steamy atmosphere from the chickens cooking, Bit smelly of fat..
First visit - chicken delicious - service very friendly
Juicy chicken, seasoned perfectly. Large selction of fantastic sauces and the friendly staff add up to a special dining experience!
It was our last night in UK with one of the best meals.
I went to Coop Chicken for lunch last Sunday with two other friends and overall we enjoyed the experience. The chicken itself was delicious, it definitely exceeded our expectations, as well as the sides. Just a little note about the beers: we did not really like the fact that they do not sell beer on tap (although there is one on the bar), but only in bottles.
Excellent, third visit and everytime is a pleasure.
Excellent food and great friendly staff all in a relaxing atmosphere.
Excellent as always, keep cooking that #damnfinechicken
Great chicken and best sweet potato fries ive tasted!Staff a tad slow to offer drinks especially as not many patrons in . don't worry if no room for dessert they'll pack it up for home enjoyment get going to enjoy!
If you like chicken, this is a real treat. Perfectly cooked, and those sauces...wow.
We waiting the same amount of time for a jug of water as we did for our food.
My wife and I booked in here through TripAdvisor recommendations using OpenTable.
We were welcomed and seated very quickly then given a moment or two to decide on drinks. Our server explained the 'different' style of menu. We opted for half a chicken and sweet potato fries, grilled corn and slaw.
The food was amazing and the friendly attentive staff made our visit a pleasure.
The desserts finished off the meal nicely, I had the Cookie Dough Pie with Ice-cream and it was amazing especially as it was served warm, yum.
Unfortunately we won't be back in Newcastle for a while but we know where to eat when we do.
My toddler has allergies to dairy and soya and the staff were prepared for it as soon as we came in (I had mentioned it in booking) nothing was a hassle ie separating corn so she could have some without butter. Would certainly recommend it to freind's. staff were friendly food was good price was great!
I dined here with my Boyfriend on a Saturday night, the service was very good and the girl who was waiting on our table was very helpful when we were deciding what to order. I didn't get her name, but she had long plaited dark brown/Red brown hair. The chicken was really nice and the music playing throughout the night was well fitted to the ambience of the restaurant. Sauces were a little bit spicy, but I think that for someone who likes spicy food then they would be okay. It could be a nice option to add a few more very mild sauces to the menu, so other people who may not have such a high tolerance for spicy foods have more choice to pick from.
Overall the meal was very good and the service was very friendly and fast.
We would definitely recommend this restaurant to friends and family.
Best chicken i have ever tasted, i even ate the skin (never do normaly) that says it all for me, lovely place
Good service. Lovely chicken and a great choice of sauces. Excellent venue for our get together with friends.
Another visit where the food and service was tip top even though it was a very busy Friday lunchtime.
You know what to expect here and you get good quality food (chicken) at a very good price and (an added bonus) some great music tracks in the background!
No doubts about recommending this to anyone looking for a group meal.
Serving simply chicken with sides. Good for dining within a group and or with friends. Chicken comes in various sizes, so even good when by yourself. It is an independent restaurant.
Average, quite pricey for what it is. Extremely limited menu.
The chicken is beautiful but we were not given the lunch menu when we should have. We were given the main menu and the sides are so expensive and tasteless. There was 0 atmosphere, we were the only people in the restaurant, this was bank holiday Monday, and we were still the only people. The staff were outside smoking, how was I to know they washed their hands etc? The chicken was lovely don't get me wrong but I won't be back in a hurry.
Me and my boyfriend visited on bank holiday Sunday. We had a reservation and were seated straight away, the decor is great and it had a good feel to the place. Drinks could have come a bit quicker and we could have been asked about second drinks before we waited to ask them, but is wasn't a huge issue! Food was lush! I had falafel (could maybe add a second veggie main option?) which was great and Reece's slice for dessert which was to die for! He had chicken and cookie pie which by all accounts seemed delicious. We'd much rather come here than the other chicken restaurant, much better food and service for the price. We'll be back soon!
The food was great! The was cooked to perfection - very yummy. Great sides as well.
A warm welcome ,tasty chicken , good falafels ,cole slaw and salads for the veggie; decent micro brewery beer and good value. Only minus is uninspiring short list of puddings. So we passed on them
The simplicity of the food, the friendliness of the staff and the nice atmosphere was ideal for a casual dinner with a friend. Everything served on the day was wonderful.
Went with 3 friend I used to work with to catch up - nice relaxed atmosphere with good service. The chicken is great with plenty of choice of sides and an amazing choice in sauces which come in shot glasses. Had a lovely time and will go back soon. I like to support independent restaurants, and this is better that that large chain on every high street!
A regularly reliable restaurant focusing on doing one thing very well - beautifully marinated and seasoned chicken, superb chips, tasty sides. Efficient and friendly service. Great choice of sauces and well selected drinks. Atmosphere and decor so much better than its chain restaurant equivalent.
Great sauce range, chicken tastes better than nandos chicken. Also have sweet potato fries 😋
