We started with drinks at the bar. Then we moved into the dining room. The beignets stuffed with crabmeat was the perfect size - one for each of us. Three of us ordered Decatur Catfish, which was delicious. The fourth enjoyed crab cakes. We had a wonderful evening.
Very nice experience, definitely will return and recommend.

I have such fond memories from the past that today surprise me quite a bit. If today were my first day visiting Copeland's my review would be very different. However, I've known them through the years and I know that they can really be a great place. I met a friend today for brunch. Typically I have some go to favorites on the menu but I decided to be adventurous today and try the Sunday buffet. It was lackluster at best. We arrived at 1:45 for reservation. I had to wait what items were refreshed and that was an encouraging sign. However, as the lady was putting the food items on the buffet she had a gut feeling that the food was still cold. In fact she let me know that if it was cold as she suspected, to let her know. The options on the Buffay were lackluster. I am not a big pork eater and most of the items were pork. The chicken and the fish incidentally were the cold items put on the buffet. The chocolate croissant was wonderful however, it's the exact same croissant that you would get at a Starbucks. So Copeland doesn't get any special credit for that one.
Our server was absolutely wonderful. He made sure to check in on us often. However, I was a bit surprised and maybe even let down that even after asking I'm having conversations with both our server and the manager on duty who were aware that we were not having a great experience with the buffet, there was no offer to try anything else. And in the end we received a full price bill as if everything had been perfect. A summary is it I would definitely go back to Copeland's but I would stick with on when you ordering. I know they've done it for years, but this buffet is not a winner for me.
I also learned the $10 offer to check in only applies to corporate stores and that franchise locations.
My boyfriend and I came had reservations here for Valentine's Day and were very disappointed with the service and food here. Our table was very small and in an uncomfortable, crammed corner. Food took long to come out, was lukewarm and not very good at all. Not a good experience at all.
It was a pretty good place. Good food good service. Overall pleased.
A perfect romantic Valentine's date night! Having complimentary valet was awesome ~especially since it was a cold night and our reservations were pretty late in the night.
Walking in to live music made a great impression. The young lady singing had a beautiful voice and singing love songs on Valentine's day was the perfect touch. Definitely happy we requested a booth-more privacy and less noise. Our server was very sweet and attentive. It was our first time here so of course we had to try an appetizer. The spinach artichoke dip was delish! Enough for 4 to share so we barely made a dent. The only thing I'd do differently would be to book a room at the hotel so after stuffing ourselves we could jump on the elevator and go our room! We'll definitely return and most assuredly refer our friends and family❤
Valentines Dinner: Overall, pretty good. Not in the same class as Pappadeaux’s, but above average.
The gumbo needed some help ... not many shrimp or
other goodies ... mostly just rue. The crab claw appetizer was delicious but only 16 crab claws. Yep, we counted them. Campisi’s serves 24, just say’n. My stuffed shrimp were slightly over cooked, while my wife’s smothered chicken was nicely prepared.
The highlight of our meal was the strawberry cheesecake. Pretty good food, great service, average value. We visit Copeland’s about 3x a year. It’s a few notches above meh.
We were seated for 15 minutes before our drink order was taken, but the food was outstanding. The drinks were pricey and very small. I would go back again and just not order any alcoholic drinks.

Always good food and service at Copeland’s. Went for happy hour this time - good drink and food special prices but they just introduced a new menu. Hits included the blackened shrimp quesadillas and crab stuffed shrimp. Misses included the margherita flatbread which tasted and presented like cheap frozen cheese pizza. Stick with the Cajun/creole specialties here and you won’t go wrong!
While It was January 1, and it might have been very busy on 12/31, I still have some concerns, lettuce was very wilted on our appetizer plate, and the wine glasses set on the table were all very dirty and I had to send mine back.
We had a reservation and we told the hostess, but she still wanted to seat us in the bar area.
When I repeated that I had a reservation she said the dining room was very busy and again wanted to seat us in the bar. I said no. She then led us to a booth in the dining room. What’s the point of taking reservations if you don’t want to honor them.
Our waitress was very nice. The food however not as good as we remembered and they were out of several menu items.
Not sure we’ll be going back.
I realize it was a night where staffing may have been an issue (Christmas Eve), but we waited what I consider an excessive amount of time for our appetizer and then again between the appetizer and main course. And I had a side salad which was brought to me almost 1/3rd the way through my main course. Food wise things were good, but when you wait like that it tends to make the evening less enjoyable. From when we arrived to when we got up to leave (paid cash which meant not waiting for change or signing a credit card) it was over 1.5 hours.
The meal and service were excellent, and I highly recommend the Crawfish Beignets!
Copeland's was one of my favorite restaurants many moons ago -- were talking about 15+ years ago. The last time I ate at Copeland's, it was in Shreveport, LA. I remember the food being really, really good -- especially the shrimp and tasso pasta.
Because of the memories, I knew the next time I was near a Copeland's, I would want to go back. So, I was in the Dallas area for Thanksgiving week and decided to check out this location.
Unfortunately, I was disappointed all the way around, as was the group with me. We went on a Sunday and they were offering a brunch buffet. The two in my party went for that, but I came for the aforementioned pasta dish. While everything looked delicious, my party said the food was just okay. There wasn’t a single thing that jumped out to them that would make them return.
As for my shrimp and tasso pasta (it comes with bowtie pasta, but I substituted that for angel hair), it was blah. I remember the sauce being rich, creamy and flavorful. This was not. I had to add some parmesan cheese to punch it up a bit. But the biscuit was slamming though!
Service was … Let’s just say it appeared no one (except for the hostess) really wanted to be at work that day. Our server wasn’t too attentive (we had to stop another server for the parmesan cheese).
Lastly, when I attempted to use my Yelp check-in offer ($10 off of $30), the server said she needed to check with her manager to see if they accepted it. She came back and said, because they are a franchise and not corporate, I couldn’t use it. Huh? Then the offer shouldn’t not have come up for this location.
Went to celebrate a birthday and everything was great!
Unfortunately I had to return my order because my fish was undercooked but they quick corrected it and brought something else. The manager spoke with me directly and also received a complimentary dessert for our anniversary
I wanted to love this place and was so excited to find something different for our date night. My caesar salad was like a bag salad at Kroger, didn't finish it. My entree was quite good, grilled chicken and yams. My husband batted 0. Got a bowl of crab bisque, it looked like it was poured from a can and literally jiggled, like jello. He ate what he could to not completely waste the money spent. Then his entree, terrible disappointment. He order the veal pasta dish (name I don't recall), but he was excited because it showed as a classic favorite. He literally could only eat 1/3 of the meat. Grissly, overcooked and just didn't taste right. His pasta and sauce was ok, so he was able to eat some of the dish. And paper straws, yuck! Give guests the option, they get soggy and are horrible when your lips touch them. Oh, and the napkins smelled weird...yes, read that right. Not sure if it was the batch of laundry, or just me being hypersensitive to scents, but weird smelling regardless.
Saving grace, prices weren't killer. 100% won't return, even if the chicken and yam dish was quite delish!!
Half price bottle of wine Sundays and awesome cajun food.
All things considered ; my favorite restaurant in DFW. Just a good, non pretensions place to eat with good food and good atmosphere, all at a reasonable price.
Shrimp was canned and not fresh and the food overall was sub average.
Copeland’s was good as always! Our waiter even provided a complimentary dessert for our birthday celebration!
I've been to Copelands many times, and I always enjoy the food and the service. A top notch restaurant!
Food was delicious! Chicken Alfredo, Veal Copeland, crawfish fettuccine ( my favorite) ! Never fails to impress!
Food was cold after waiting 1 1/2 hours. Also order was wrong and they ran out of red fish and try to give us catfish instead. Spoiled my daughter ‘s birthday celebration
We west for our anniversary, and had our teenage daughter and my MIL, who was visiting, along with us. It wasn't very crowded at the time, so we were able to get a spot with good lighting, which is helpful for my MIL. The music was a bit loud, which is a bit at odds with the furnishings. When you come in, it's subdued lighting, dark furniture, and just feels like it should have softer background music.
Food-we started with the hot crab claws app, which was great. Daughter had the steak small plate and loved it, which I told her she would, as I have had it before. Hubby had the stuffed catfish and really liked it. MIL had the salmon cobb salad. She liked it, but wished she had asked for the salmon to be cooked more done, instead of the usual medium. I had the pecan crusted ricochet catfish, which is always fantastic, although the corn fritters were a little spicy. The green beans were really good. All of us adults had to-go boxes.
Service was pretty good, except he spoke too fast for my MIL, and he would ask us how things were, etc, yet not really listen to the answer.
Before we went, I pulled up the menu for my MIL to go ahead and decide what she wanted, as she has a hard time reading small print menus. She was quite appreciative, and I was really glad that was an option.
We loved the crawfish bread. Service was pleasant but it took far too long to get drinks. Bread pudding was tasty but should have been warmer.
We celebrated a birthday and had no tegrets. Service and food was great. Friendly staff!!!
I can not recommend Copelands. I was visiting from out of town. I made a reservation which was confirmed by email. I arrived to a very busy and noisy restaurant to discover that "we don't take reservations on Friday and Saturday". When I told them that it had been confirmed by email, I received a shrug. I was seated 30 minutes later next to the bar. I had to shout to talk to the server who was very good and helpful. Food was ok - not great. Overall, the experience was disappointing.
Our server was the best! The food was wonderful as always!
This is a favorite and would certainly go back. The waitress had character and southern charm and the food was most excellent.
