Our server Sydney was amazing and the drinks were prefect.
My daughter and I went for brunch. We were seated inside, where the tables were spaced a great distance apart, which was nice. She had the chocolate chunk pancakes, which were really good (but very chocolatey). I had the quiche, also delicious. Server was helpful and attentive, as were the hosts. If I lived closer, I would be a regular!
Food was good, but overpriced sides along with the expensive meals was a little excessive. Drinks were amazing, but I do not think mashed potatoes should be $10, main meal portion was not very large but it was good. It was expensive, quality was good but not worth how much it cost. Restaurant and decor was cute and warm.
Great food and drink selection! Lovely outdoor seating with excellent music. I always go to Copperwood when I have the chance!
Copperwood is our favorite place in shirlington village. Amazing food. And great service.
The patio was a great set up. Tough in this covid climate but they did a great job. The server was fantastic - constantly checking in and very pleasant. I loved the pancakes, and the others were a fan of their meals. I will say the fried green tomatoes are probably not in season (ate here in June)
The portions are worth the money! Fried chicken and waffles were AMAZING! Sherbet mimosas were cute and fun to drink. Bloody Mary was basic and a little watery.
Amazing meal and service. Awesome drinks.
Did a nice job with the COVID precautions. Felt safe and clean.
It was so wonderful.to.be sitting outside. Our server was so pleasant and attentive - even while dodging a toddler's steady stream of airborne objects!
We inhaled our Tavern Burgers, Caesar Salads and Fries - it was all so good we vowed to return mext week!!
Awesome evening. Great service and food.
Went out to our favorite restaurant as phase II started. Waiter Sam was awesome and I understand that everyone has their challenges right now but we sat in the blazing 5:30pm direct sunlight with absolutely no shade option. If the tables are going to be so far apart down the sidewalk, would patio umbrellas be possible? Thanks for the consideration!
Good experience overall. First day re-opening so I didn’t expect perfect service. Will return!!
Great brunch menu.
It was my 3rd time dining at Copperwood Tavern and this visit unlike the previous two was disappointing. It started with our overbearing waiter who wasn't a very good listener to the food not meeting my expectations.
Food was fantastic. Husband and I shared great lamb shank! Our friends had the spaghetti squash and chicken. Also great dessert - cobbler and smores! Excellent service and will definitely go back with my dog.
Good food. Tasty but one dish was medium warm.
No tavern food like burger and fries that would be a great addition and a beyond meat
Great food great service
We were meeting for a girls brunch and this was just perfect. Loads of choices for people with different diet requests. The service was a real stand out. Attentive and helpful all the way through. This will be a new go-to for brunch.
We made a reservation weeks ago and were seated at the worst table in the place. Right by the door in the middle of the floor. It was so scrunched people kept bumping into us and our table. We asked to move and the staff was NOT happy to accommodate us, but they did. On the other hand, the food and drinks were delicious.
TIMING problems are the cause for the GOOD rating. Entrees came so fast on the heels of the appetizers that we felt rushed and had to box things up prematurely so the main dishies wouldn't get cold... RATS! Happy to return, though. First thyme for us, we liked the vibe & decor, and WooHOO! we scored a booth as requested. Server Inna provided vivacious and attentive service. Copperwood Old Fashioned cokctails had great flavour, but were skimpy for $15 and heavy on the sweet/herbal with no trace of the Rye Whiskey, gave only a minor-league Buzz. French Onion soup excellent. Venison Meaty-Balls and the Fried Green Tomatoes more disappointing. Entree Ribeye and Pork Chop pretty dang yummy, and cooked as ordered. Farmers and Tavern Salad portions were EXTRA generous, very fresh. Management comped us the Pecan Pie Cheesecake dessert after we commented that it was all sweet pecan with no cheesy ZING! We'll give 'em another few chances, though - We like the joint!
We were welcomed with our reservation & offered table or booth. Asparagus side was great appetizer. Shannon is terrific server - super helpful!! Love the Brussel Sprouts. Complimentary soup was delicious as was the French onion & fried green tomatoes. Lovely braised lamb shank. Always enjoy our dining here. Check out dog photos:-)). Great place to visit with friends.
Had an amazing dinner! Elias, our server, was super knowledgeable and gave great recommendations including subbing the mashed potatoes instead of grits for the short ribs starter (10/10 highly recommend) every single item we had was amazing and the pecan pie cheesecake is to die for.
Our server was so attentive! Food was great.
Everyone loved it.. we will go back. One of my friends had the lamb and the other had the filet. We were all happy. Would like to see more on the wine list but it was fine.
Making the reservation I indicated we were celebrating a Birthday. When I checked in with the hostess no mention of who is celebrating a Birthday. Our server did not ask if we were celebrating a special occasion. This was our fourth time eating here; the previous three dining experiences were above average. Tonight’s meal and experience was subpar. Every server has an off night and it seems our server was going through the motions.
I ordered the Berkshire pork chop medium. The middle of the chop was completely raw. However, let me say this, the flavor was spot on! Nonetheless, I sent the chop back. What came back was dried out over cooked chop. Our kid ordered a grilled cheese and we had to remind the server that grilled cheese came with fries. One last thing, when we made the reservation apparently there was special promotion tonight, complimentary dessert. We ordered one dessert. When the check came, the charge for the dessert was on our bill. I didn’t bring it to the servers attention due to the number of missteps that had already occurred.
very nicer neighborhood restaurant with good food and ambience.
Amazing dinner for a large group.
We were seated over 30 minutes after our reservation time. Service was really good but clearly the restaurant was having an off night for timing or the seating and food being brought to the food table. Will try it again as I love the neighborhood and really the service was great
The food was decent but the service, both in seating us for our reservation (we waited a half hour past our reservation time) and the table service was slow. Forgotten item, serving different members of the group at different times and generally slow. Also, the bench on one side of our table was way too high for the table. They should sue their designer/ carpenter.
My fiance and I came here for brunch on a Saturday. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was great. However, we were seated in a poor spot, kind of around the corner wedged between a large group. I'll have to remember to make sure we do not sit here again, because we were neglected by service. Won't stop us from going again, will just speak up next time if the host tries taking us to that same table.
Food and drinks were really good and the price was decent. Generally not a bad experience but I wish I had a more attentive waiter.
1) He seemed to be a bit frantic so unsure if he was new or having an off day. He came and took our drink order quickly but then took a while to come for our food order; we were both more than halfway done with our drinks before our food order went in.
2) Popcorn! The place smells like popcorn and every table has popcorn. Unfortunately, we never got any! I would have asked for some but the waiter didn’t come by our table ( even though my friend’s cocktail glass was empty) until our food was being delivered. No point in having the popcorn once my food arrived.
3) Ordered the short rib Benedict and asked for a side of grits. The grits never came but wasn’t on the bill when I paid so I guess I lost nothing. I was just looking forward to them. I didn’t have a chance to mention it since the waiter didn’t not come back once the food was delivered to see how everything was going.
I saw some other waitstaff that seemed much more attentive so I would definitely try again and hope for more consistent service.
Second time in a row that our reservation at 7 took 20+ minutes to seat us. This time they provided champagne while we waited.
We had fun and the food was good, as always! Some dishes are a little overpriced but most are really worth it. The free spiced popcorn is really good and the low music/noise level makes conversations easy. Staff is always very attentive and friendly, they know the menu and give great advice! Biggest issue is that the tables, for large parties, are rarely, if ever, ready on time, expect a 15-30 minute wait time even if you book beforehand. However, the free popcorn, food and service will make it worth it!
Fun place. Can be noisy. Food always great! Service is always on point! Servers are well trained and food is always quick to arrive and hot. We look forward to coming in every time we visit VA.
Great oysters for $1
The photos are a bit deceiving. I had never been but had planned on it for a special Valentine’s Day dinner since the photos looked amazing and mouthwatering. It’s basically just a steakhouse in a strip-mall area. Nothing to write home about. Food was good (not great) but we were super disappointed that the grilled oysters were colder than room temperature and had clearly been sitting out before making their way to our table. Server was inexperienced and timid. He was nice but he always appeared to be unsure of himself and inattentive. If you want a special, romantic steak dinner, with excellent service, this isn’t your place. What was even more disappointing was I used my $25 OpenTable gift card worth 5,000 points for this reservation. Definitely bummed.
Copperwood never disappoints! We loved the bar staff so much we stayed and had our dinner there! Lobster/butterleaf lettuce wraps...amazing! Smoked gouda mashed potatoes, bacon brussel sprouts, salmon, all cooked perfectly and oh so tasty! Can't wait for another date night here:)
Amazing staff, manager and food. Can not say enough about the quality of food and mixed drinks. Will be returning and recommending to others!
