We had the best waitress!!
This was our first visit to CT. Although a somewhat loud environment, the food and service made for a wonderful experience. We will return.
We were supposed to receive 100 Open Table points for dining here, but did not. Loved our anniversary dinner here. Our waiter brought us the addictive popcorn in addition to the plate of little corn breads w/ butter. I had a glass of Viognier. We shared the chevre & spelt platter, then the impressive tomahawk ribeye steak. And a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon. We chose a decadent side dish: 5 cheese Mac & Cheese w/ truffle oil. All were yummy! Too bad our table was near the bar where some screaming, laughing women were annoying everyone. The waiter surprised us with a candle in the chocolate dessert. Looking forward to our next visit (but near the window away from the bar!)
Service and food were perfect 🤗
Our go to place on Virginia. Dine there every week.
Nice menu Good tasty food
The food was outstanding, and our waiter pleasant. But, he had too many tables, which led to delays in everything, from drunken, to, appetizers, meals and ultimately our dessert.
Food was wonderful. Service was great. Very attentive even though it was busy. Thank you.
A few misses... under-cooked salmon and steak, and wrong dessert item. Manager was attentive to rectify but overall wasn’t a great experience. And the thanksgiving special plate for $25 felt over-priced for what you got... a few slices of turkey over some stuffing and a dab of cranberry, and have to add your own sides. Hoping for better.
The staff was wonderful! Food was good, my pork chop wasn’t cooked all the way but I took it home. I didn’t send it back because they were so nice! Very cold in there, had to eat with my coat on.
I would recommend Copperwood for a night out. But not for a holiday meal. Holiday meals are traditions and come with an emotional expectation. If your advertising a transitional a Thanksgiving meal, you should deliver one. Thinly sliced turkey...5 oz, a small scoop of dressing, a tablespoon of cranberry sauce and a little gravy. For $25. Their everyday entrees come with generous servings and are of high quality. I expected more from them.
This was the first holiday at Copperwood and it was worth going out for. 3 of 7 folks in our party ordered the Thanksgiving meal. While it was good, we were hoping for a more "traditional" turkey dinner but nonetheless, the food was very good.
Consistently good on all levels! I frequent Copperwood and will continue to.
Our first visit and I was impressed by the quality of the food and the breath of selections on the beer menu. We enjoyed the oysters during happy hour and they were plump and fresh. Neither of us were dazzled by the fried green tomato appetizer but I had the filet for the main course and it was flavorful and perfectly cooked. My wife had the steak salad which she thoroughly enjoyed. The pumpkin cheesecake dessert was free on Tuesdays and it was very good without being overly sweet. I can’t wait to go back.
I've now been to Copperwood Tavern for both lunch and dinner. Both have been absolutely delicious experiences.
Cooperwood is one of favorite places to go in Shirlington, always good food and great service! I also like that it’s a Farm To Table concept.
Good was amazing, staff was spot on. Made the birthday celebration that much better! Wonderful evening!
The food was good as always. They have an extensive brunch menu. I think it is actually better than the dinner menu. The food is delicious. We opted for sweet rather than savory, but there are many tempting savory options as well. We had sherbet mimosas which were quite tasty as well.
We went for dinner prior to a show at Shirlington. We had the baked Brie appetizer, steak salad and chocolate cake. We both found the food to be unremarkable, the menu overpriced and it to be very loud.
The lamb shank is tender and very tasty!
Bar menu different from dining area menu. Waiter told us he could not serve bar menu in main dining area, even though it’s the same restaurant and they were serving just a few feet away!!
Made reservation on site as hostess told us wait time was 40 minutes vs 15 by reserving on Open Table!! Bar tables are first come first serve.
Beer was fine, many choices. Service was good. We ordered appetizers and they were diligent. Price is ok for what they serve, but menu is too fancy for a “tavern”.
Copperwood is a good neighborhood restaurant. It has a friendly bar and serves a very good range of dinner options. Portions are large and well prepared. Three of us had duck breast, filet mignon, and grilled halibut, all cooked exactly as ordered. Appetizer orders of baked brie and mussels were excellent. The main complaint was that our main courses arrived before we had a chance to finish our appetizers. (Were the cooks eager to close the kitchen and go home?) Our waiter apologized profusely for the rushed service.
With the exception of the speedy delivery of the main dishes, our meal was very good--and the coffee fresh and hot.
We came for brunch today before the 2pm show at the Signature.
My wife's meal of a steak omelette was good.
The biscuits were only ok - not flaky.
My chicken and waffles was only fair. The "fried" part of the chicken fell right off. The waffles were underdone.
I would not order that again.
Atmosphere was fine - my food was disappointing
We really enjoyed our food! It was super delicious.
There was a bit of a delay getting a meal for the toddler who was with us ... But then the manager quickly comped the meal for us.
Wonderful food and great service
Great experience and great service
Came here before a show at the Kennedy Center. Let server know we needed to be out by a certain time and she worked on accommodating us. Had the venison and duck. Both were delicious. Will go back to try other dishes.
We had never been to Copperwood Tavern before and were very pleasantly surprised. They have a varied and interesting menu. The appetizers, salad and wine were excellent and we enjoyed them very much. Our only issue was that our halibut was a bit dry and when we explained that to our server we were offered desserts and final drinks on the house. We were very impressed with our server and the management of this restaurant. They wanted to be sure we enjoyed our experience. We highly recommend Copperwood Tavern. We had a really nice dining experience.
Prime Rib nite was amazing! The staff is very welcoming!
Had a great brunch experience. Food was excellent as always and Ivan was a great server. He had good suggestions and was very attentive. Thanks!
I love the Avacado toast and Ricotta Blueberry Pancakes!!!! Marcus was our waiter recently and like all the staff, very professional and polite. Marcus would check in periodically , yet not too much:)
Reservation is a must--if I plan for Sunday brunch I make a reservation by Monday.
I used to be a regular at Copperwood but haven't been here in over a year. One of the sets of silverware at our table had been used. When we pointed it out to the waiter, he was extremely sorry and wound up bringing us a complimentary short rib appetizer (which was excellent). For dinner we split the baked brie, the asparagus and steak salad, and the halibut. The brie was very good but it came with four slices of bread, some green apple slices, and honey. At the price point, I thought there should be a little meat included. The salad is a great combo of greens, asparagus and perfectly cooked cuts of steak and was great as usual. The halibut was very good as well but at $33 I thought this was overpriced. So it was a very good meal overall but the overall price was a little higher than expected for what we had.
We love this place. Great brunch, lunch and dinner. Prices are reasonable, but a little more expensive if you go for dinner. Nevertheless, the food is consistently fresh and good with friendly service. I haven’t tried anything from this restaurant that I haven’t liked.
One of my favorite dining places in the area. Have been to this restaurant quite a few times, and never left disappointed! Freshest ingredients, wonderful staff, nice atmosphere.
The lamb shank was under-seasoned, bland. I think it needed garlic and rosemary or other seasoning to make it better than mediocre. The presentation was nice with a scattering of roasted potatoes, carrots and onion crisps. The asparagus was especially tasty although the serving was OK for one person but insufficient considering it is advertised as a dish to share. I rated the food as average, not bad, not exceptional, but good enough that I am willing to try it again. The wait staff was slow to clear plates and did not offer a dessert menu until I flagged him down and asked for one. But he was polite and helpful about describing the various dishes.
Enjoyed Brunch for the first time there. We’ve only had the pleasure of dinner menu. Our server was attentive to my allergies and extremely pleasant. Love the playlist of the music also.
Fabulous food, with a menu unlike anything else in the area.
Went for what we hoped would be a relaxing brunch to catch up, but that was not to be. Got the hard sell from minute one on ordering extra items. When it was clear we weren't drinking alcohol or ordering multiple dishes, we got tricked into adding on a side with extra charge that wasn't included in the entree. Even worse, the server and other staff (seemingly even managers) rushed us to be able to turn over the table. No less than 10 times did they come to take our plates (even with food still on them), one staff even exclaimed at one point, "Really, you're not done??" I've been a server and get the motivation for wanting high billing/high turnover tables, but we did not expect such rude service at a place like this, nor ever want again or want to promote to anyone else.
Good for a Sunday brunch birthday celebration. Friendly staff, yummy food.
