Booked a table for four for lunch, but ended being a six, which they accommodated without fuss. The set menu was excellent value and the food was of excellent quality. The staff were all very professional and helpful.
This was a safe bet on a Sunday late afternoon and it proved to be just that. Nothing particularly exciting or bad, just OK.
Very nice meal and excellent value for money. Only complaint was the service that seemed disorganised and staff looked a little overwhelmed. I will definitely go back though.
Great location, very nice food at reasonable prices I will be back.
Overall it was ok. Service to start was poor but it improved as the meal went on. Food was good. They really need to get their heads around the fact that they are there for the benefit of the customers and not vice versa.
Painfully slow service
I was unfortunately quite disappointed with my lunch at Coq d’Argent, the food was fairly substandard, the service wasn't great, the tables were old and in need of painting, the wine wasn't cold enough (despite asking for it to be re-chilled) and the toilets had no soap. Overall, I wouldn't return.
The new manager of the Grill is making the steps to improve the Grills vs Restaurant reputation. This included bringing me a congratulatory desert after over hearing some good news. I thought this was a nice touch and wish them good luck
The venue is great, the food is delicious and the staff are friendly, but we went in a lovely sunny day... sunny means busy means really slow service. We were both having main course, dessert and coffee. Water poured, main order taken, meal arrived after 20 minutes (fine), cleared, order taken for dessert and coffee... knowing it was busy we ordered and asked for the bill at the same time... 25 minutes later coffee arrived and we reminded them we wanted the bill, 20 minutes after that dessert arrived and we reminded them we wanted the bill, table cleared... please can we have the bill... anyone. It was busy, but it wasn’t rocket science.
Wonderful setting for lunch on a sunny day!
The food is to a very good standard, although not exceptional.
Service is slow.
Prices reflect the venue!
Fabulous time had by all
We had an excellent afternoon at the venue. The staff were very attentive. They took extra care of our colleague who has an allergy. They checked and double checked to ensure that she was caterered for. Will absolutely recommend to others and all 4 of us would book again. Lovely staff and great food.
Nice business lunch for 50gbp
Excellent in every way. as always. Our waiter, Juan, was charming, attentive and ensured we had excellent service. I always look forward to my next visit.
Same as my last review, best overall place for dining and drinks. Marks are a little lower this time as it was just before Christmas and exceptionally busy so the service was not as excellent as usual. Ambience was magical though. After lunch we enjoyed drinks on the heated outside terrace. Can't wait to go again.
poor service. bread took 20 minutes to arrive and finally came as starters had been finished. second bottle of wine took 15 minutes to arrive after ordering. main courses arrived without cutlery available. chocolate truffles offered with coffee never arrived. Not one wait staff smiled while I was there! It's a busy time before Christmas, we all know, but this is not the level of service you pay for
Very good food, but extremely poor service in the outdoor area. I had to ask 4 times over 45 minutes for someone to come and take our order, which was embarrassing for me as I was bringing a work guest.
Not as good as the main restaurant. Pricey for what you get, small tables and service a bit haphazard. Also, £15 for small cheeseboard is steep. Good ambience and the food was nice. More of a social venue.
Birthday lunch .
We were seated in the bar area ( deal wasn’t in the restaurant apparently?!), though wasn’t stated !
Bar staff too busy waiting on city workers Xmas lunch .. had to clear own plates to make room on table and pour pen wine at £70 a pop !
Food was nice as always in there , but will check nxt time where we are seated .:(
Fantastic venue as always. Al fresco dining, excellent food, professional service, reasonable price (great deal with the evening standard offer). Perfect for a business lunch or a romantic meal.
Have been several times and really like it, we had the Evening Standard set menu so was great value for money. Food as always good.
Can't fault this restaurant. Excellent in every way. Been many times and will continue to do so. What more can I say?
We were very well looked after by our table hostess, Ilona.
The food was excellent, especially the melon and Palma ham. I enjoyed my perfectly grilled sea bass , as did my guests.
Wine by the glass selection limited
Wonderful food with good service. Excellent menu choice and good wine choice
Service was very, very slow. Not up to the usual standard
Delicious food and great service as always!
We absolutely loved our dining experience! We are outside and the setting was tranquil and beautiful. The waitstaff was very attentive and helpful with our dietary preferences. We are both gluten Free and vegan and were so thrilled the restaurant had menus available featuring both options! This is fairly rare and those who need alternatives will love this restaurant.
Service is absolute 5 star that reminds you of old world English charm. We felt so cossetted for the £20 lunch grill menu with bubbly
Met ex-colleague for catch-up. Had set price menu which was excellent. Sommelier recommended Jean Paul light red Vaucluse wine - was lovely. Staff friendly and attentive but not intrusive.
Atmosphere busy but still able to hold a natural conversation.
Popped into The Ned opposite out of curiosity afterwards - absolutely buzzing but so noisy!!!
Will definitely be back to Le Coq d'Argent.
Very enjoyable lunch. The staff were very attentive and helpful. The food was good, maybe a little too salty for my tastes but that could just be me We had a lovely time and were made to feel very special even taken o into the rooftop garden to see the view
Set menu options were tasty and filling. Service was good but not too obtrusive. The restaurant is a bit hard to find so allow some time.
Great restaurant with friendly efficient staff and good food!
We really enjoyed our Saturday brunch. Fab service and great value for money on food. Would recommend to friends and family and we will be back again.
location is excellent but difficult find the entrance. I have to go out a few times to pick up friends who cannot find the entrance. Haven't said that food quality and service are excellent. worthwhile to try. atmosphere is good for outdoor eating in summer time
Decided to book the grill rather than the restaurant, which was a little less formal. We were offered the full menu but went for a set menu which was very reasonable priced. The food was very good, our table was outside and although there were other tables close by it was still private. As always the service and attention to detail was excellent. Overall a very good venue and place to eat.
A lovely place to go , for outdoor eating and drinking .
Staff where very friendly and helpful with menu choice .....
Good, shaded outdoor seating on the top floor of this City restaurant, minutes from Bank and Cannon Street stations.
Okay food, nothing special about any of it - reasonably cooked tuna and salmon, tasty spinach, average beans and French fries; horribly expensive for what it is but location, service and ambiance make up for it! You'll eat better elsewhere but on a hot summer's day, very pleasant!
The staff here are always friendly and welcoming and the food quality very high.
v good food and service. Fairly busy but relaxed. Highly recommended and will go again.
