We absolutely loved our dining experience! We are outside and the setting was tranquil and beautiful. The waitstaff was very attentive and helpful with our dietary preferences. We are both gluten Free and vegan and were so thrilled the restaurant had menus available featuring both options! This is fairly rare and those who need alternatives will love this restaurant.

Service is absolute 5 star that reminds you of old world English charm. We felt so cossetted for the £20 lunch grill menu with bubbly

Met ex-colleague for catch-up. Had set price menu which was excellent. Sommelier recommended Jean Paul light red Vaucluse wine - was lovely. Staff friendly and attentive but not intrusive.
Atmosphere busy but still able to hold a natural conversation.

Popped into The Ned opposite out of curiosity afterwards - absolutely buzzing but so noisy!!!

Will definitely be back to Le Coq d'Argent.

Very enjoyable lunch. The staff were very attentive and helpful. The food was good, maybe a little too salty for my tastes but that could just be me We had a lovely time and were made to feel very special even taken o into the rooftop garden to see the view

location is excellent but difficult find the entrance. I have to go out a few times to pick up friends who cannot find the entrance. Haven't said that food quality and service are excellent. worthwhile to try. atmosphere is good for outdoor eating in summer time

Decided to book the grill rather than the restaurant, which was a little less formal. We were offered the full menu but went for a set menu which was very reasonable priced. The food was very good, our table was outside and although there were other tables close by it was still private. As always the service and attention to detail was excellent. Overall a very good venue and place to eat.

Good, shaded outdoor seating on the top floor of this City restaurant, minutes from Bank and Cannon Street stations.

Okay food, nothing special about any of it - reasonably cooked tuna and salmon, tasty spinach, average beans and French fries; horribly expensive for what it is but location, service and ambiance make up for it! You'll eat better elsewhere but on a hot summer's day, very pleasant!

Lovely food, good service but if you don't like smoke make sure to check that you don't get stuck on the patio.

They did not advise us that we will be seated there (and that is a smoking zone) and even though it was cozy and lovely (if a bit Christmassy!) by dessert we were sitting in a fog of cigar smoke.

Quick business lunch at Coq d'Argent last week. Went to the Grill where a 2/3 courses menu is on offer and was delicious and promptly delivered within our limited timeframe. Great food, nice atmosphere, bang in the middle of the City. Reliably efficient and friendly.

Nice experience up on the roof but glad to be indoors on a cool day. Very smart place to eat and to be seen. Crowded on the day we lunched there. Table by the bar was quite noisy.

We had the 3 course set menu which was good value and very tasty. I had cauliflower veloute - delicate, creamy and lovely texture; smoked salmon and spinach pie with a side salad; and finished with the chocolate and marmalade tart. Beautifully cooked and wonderful flavours throughout. They were busy so service was a little patchy but the food made up for it!

Despite a lack of sunshine, the Evening Standard special menu for our lunch was delicious and we enjoyed the included glass of Prosecco. Apart from the fact that one of the starters was already sold out at 1PM and that is the one my guest wanted, the menu was very good. I liked the seabass and the panna cotta was out of this world. Service was OK too.

This is a hidden outdoor gem in the City and it is a treat to be able to lunch outdoors in the summer. I have been there a few times this summer. Food was very good, we had the grilled fish, and we enjoyed the atmosphere. Good for business lunches too. I favour the grill over the Restaurant where there are too many dark suits.

This is a hidden outdoor gem in the City and it is a treat to be able to lunch outdoors in the summer. Food was delicious and the crab that was served was the largest one I have ever eaten! Sufficient for a full meal so did not finish it between the two of us, as we had a main course thereafter. Good for business lunches too. I favour the grill over the Restaurant where there are too many dark suits.

DW and I met for a quick lunch - £20 for 2 courses, £25 for 3. She very much enjoyed her ravioli starter and roasted smoked salmon main. I had a perfectly respectable bit of smoked salmon and then an extremely good lamb shank with mash. We split a dessert that I can't recall the name of but was just right (a sort of fruity flan thing). Anyway, in summary - quick, tasty and well presented food at a pretty reasonable price for the City. We will return!

Set menu great value, showcasing the food very well. Wine list a little pricy for those not on an expense account (cheapest bubbles £49) but service and ambience worth it. 13.45 reservation meant you were not hurried but shortage of one of the items on the set menu. However all the options were great.

I met up with a friend for lunch just before Christmas - a time when quality of food is often compromised in restaurants. Not so at Coq d'Argent. Both my friend's lamb and my pasta were very good. It's not cheap, but the location and the quality of food justify the prices. Service was friendly as well.

The food was Dissapointing - I had the cauliflower veloute and the truffle pasta. While the veloute was ok the pasta was overlooked and bland! this is supposed to be a high quality establishment - how do you overcook pasta????

Quiet lunch with a couple of friends - food superb. We were sat in the corner so it was difficult to get the server's attention, they did check on us regularly though.

I have been to Cog d'Argent many times and always enjoy the food and also find the set menu excellent value. Normally the service is attentive and good/adequate. This time we had couple of minor gripes. Firstly I booked the opentable set menu and they didn't give that to us until I asked. Then when my guest asked for vinegar to dip his bread in he got, well, vinegar (I know he should have specified balsamic but I thought a smart waiter will clarify). Then after we paid our bill we sit down and chatted for about a minute, when the waiter (different to the waitress who took the payment) came and asked us whether we have paid, and when we said yes, he took the itemised bill left on the table to have a look (which revealed nothing as my friend has pocketed the credit card slip) and asked us again, honestly, be smart and go check on the system. I will still go back but only for the food and the environment and will set my expectation of service to fast food chain and then we are all happy.

My friend ordered lamb skewers and was told that as there were only 2 left she could order an extra side dish. Unfortunately the skewers were mainly made up of fat with very little meat. She was able to exchange her dish but she ate later than us. The food should not have been served. Other than that we enjoyed our meal.

I requested a table outside on the terrace, which they provided (many thanks). Much nicer on a sunny day than being inside. Great service and food.

The garden is lovely for a stroll and a drink after eating, and offers views over the city.

My one niggle is that I asked them to bring our wine to our table in an ice bucket, but they didn’t. Instead they left it in a central communal ice bucket so we had to get the waiter’s attention if we wanted a refill (which we did. Repeatedly).

The staff were friendly and accommodating, in that we were moved to another table when requested. The food was of good quality however the service was a bit slow and some requests were forgotten. The set menu, which we had, was diverse enough. The sommelier was very helpful in selecting our wine. Overall, I would recommend the restaurant and its food.

Given it was a fairly quiet lunch service the Thursday before Easter, the service was exceptionally slow for a party of two people. We waited about 20 mins too long for one cold starter to arrive and the mains were also too long in arriving. Food was nice, staff were friendly and polite but despite our mentioning the slowness at the end of the meal, no apology or deduction from the bill was offered.

I went with my boss for a working lunch. We got offerred the terrace (which was warm considering it was February) and chose from the set menu. A varied and good selection of dishes. Took nearly two hours from getting in to leaving, which was a little longer than we'd hoped. Otherwise a good lunch.
