Coq d'Argent is the definition of an urban oasis. High above the City you'll find a classic French restaurant, complete with an extensive terrace and a secret garden. The food is nothing short of fantastic, overseen by Head Chef Damien Rigollet, served alongside an extensive wine list curated by our Head Sommelier

Private Dining

Perched on the roof of No. 1 Poultry, Coq d’Argent offers a constant in the ever-changing fortunes of the square mile. Regional French food is served in a spectacular dining room, which, like its spacious, lawned roof terrace, offers unparalleled views over the City of London.

This is my go to restaurant for business lunch or dinner. Good food but an overpriced wine list which forces you too chose sub optimal wines as for example: ~£80 for a ~£28 wine does not work.

Hadn't been to Coq d'Argent for a number of years but they have really raised their game. The restaurant was buzzy on a Friday night, and service was very good. We opted for the set menu at £34.50 for 3 courses with 4 options for every course, the food was excellent and provided outstanding value for money.
It has always been a lovely venue, but now with food to match. Will be returning !

Such a nice restaurant and roof top bar. We had great service from the outset the staff were very attentive and helpful.

The set menu was also good value although we only had glasses of wine and not a bottle.

Would definitely return again!

Nice place, heated terrace, friendly staff, not rushed but maybe just a few finer points could have been better like clearing crumbs off the table in between courses and someone looking after the gents toilet, the floor was disgusting, reported this but they stayed like that all evening also there was no stock of the first two bottles of wine we choose so we had third choice.
Overall we enjoyed our visit

- Long wait for the food
- Food itself is ok
- Service mixed up the side dishes several times
- Very noisy so difficult to have conversation
- Reception mixed up coats in cloak room so we had to search for our coats ourselves

We had the set menu and the starter was good to start with so we were looking forward to a good eating experience. The cocktails were nice too however we found the lamb too salty. This was disappointing but not yet the deal breaker. I didn’t mind sitting behind the waiters bar until one or two of them walked by us and released quite pungent gas on two occasions. It was hard to carry on trying to eat the already inedible food and more so now trying to breathe. Admittedly flatulence is natural human occurrence but once might have been ok - twice was unacceptable and quite embarrassing.
This spoilt the whole experience and atmosphere for us.
Not sure I’ll be visiting here again after this scarred experience.
Desert was alright- nothing spectacular.

The chateaubriand was dry, ambience was terrible and the language from a diner who couldn’t keep his voice down ruined the date night. Service was good although attention to detail wasn’t great.

The service was very slow - from getting menu, ordering wine, getting the food, getting the bill!

The wine was poured at erratic intervals and kept away from the table so we could not get to it such that we ended up drinking half the bottle after the meal !

Friendly but completely lacking in attentiveness!!

Quite disappointed with Coq d’Argent. Dined here last year and it was solid 5 review. We were placed at a 9 top next to the main entrance and the cigarette smoke from the bar and the terrace doors was overwhelming. My party of 9 then had to wait 20 minutes to even place an order for cocktails. First two selections from the wine list were not available. When our food arrived, every waiter delivered the meals to to wrong person. Unbelievable. After dinner, we asked to order brandy and coffee with desert. Orders were taken for the desert, but not for brandy or coffee — we were told to wait for a separate menu. The menu never arrived. Coffee/brandy orders were never taken — unbelievable. In all fairness, the food was excellent, but that is only part of the experience, and a restaurant at this level with great food and awful service just doesn’t cut it. Maybe it was just a bad night, but when you show up with 9 people and pay a four-figure tab, that just does not cut it. I would suggest a different choice.

even though the restaurant was not full, was sat in between the service station and the balcony window. felt super cramped, with waiters brushing past my seat as they constantly walked by. despite waiters all seem occupied, not sure what they were doing apart from making sure we were not being attended to. when we did receive some service, a number of times the waiter came up to ask about our night only to end in mid sentence to run off doing something else. food did come reasonably quick, but an understated disappointment overall.

The service was absolutely atrocious - we had to wait/and or ask for everything, menus, water, wine etc. Coq d'Argent was a great restaurant in the 1980/1990s, but it feels like if you have the set menu (not with standing spending a lot of money on wine) you are segregated - will not return
