Disappointed with the food this time
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the Beef Wellington we shared. There was an extensive wine list. The staff were very helpful.
Really great food & service. Perfect antidote to a very long work day. Will very much be back, as will my work colleagues!
The service was absolutely atrocious - we had to wait/and or ask for everything, menus, water, wine etc. Coq d'Argent was a great restaurant in the 1980/1990s, but it feels like if you have the set menu (not with standing spending a lot of money on wine) you are segregated - will not return
Excellent as usual but with a fantastic new menu for the weekend with brilliant choices from 9 dishes.
Would highly recommend for special occasions. Friendly attentive staff not overbearing. Very good value with Evening Standard offer. Nice atmosphere complemented by excellent food
We ordered from the set menu which was good value as the quality of food is really nice. Would be nice to have a few more options for allergies. Service was great and efficient, maybe a bit too much depending on your preference.
We had a wonderful time at Coq D'Argent. We had the evening standard meal-starter was smoked salmon, main-escargots and dessert creme brulee. I have been before and had the a la carte menu-the food has always been amazing. Highly recommend.
Had the set menu , at no point did I think I was being treated differently. Everything amazingly good , service above & beyond
Top drawer as always except the Evening Standard menu option and aligned pricing made it sublime.
Love this restaurant, guaranteed fabulous service excellent food and super atmosphere. We both had a wonderful evening thank you
Lovely atmosphere for entertaining clients, the noise level can be rather high and the service could be faster. Sparkling wine that was served wasn't unfortunately chilled.
Good as usual - perfect for business occasiond
Un des meilleurs restaurant à Londres, Même si je suis de Paris, la qualité de la nourriture est impeccable dans un cadre très agréable. J’ai hâte d’y retourner.
The food is very nice, but in the end, they charged us for coverage fee which we do not understand at all and the 1 pound for the whatsoever project, which is a bit odd. Overall is good.
I’m quite torn with this review. The food was excellent, the staff were very friendly and attentive. However, the staff seemed a bit clueless and didn’t seem to communicate with each other. The waiting staff didn’t know which was our wine and left us waiting for a while on a couple of occasions while they awaited the sommelier. Atmosphere was a bit of a let down. Pretty empty restaurant in comparison with where we had pre dinner drinks at The Ned across the road. Wine list was good but had no description of the wine at all. Simply the country, name and price. A bit of a let down unfortunately although really could not fault the food at all.
Do not believe the reviews. Simply a bad execution of the French cuisine.
Excellent food, lovely wine. A little quiet, and courses came pretty quickly.
Nice lunch - food good standard and wine list super !
Excellent food as always
First course (salmon) : could have been served as a amuse bouche. Not a first course . I have rarely seen so little salmon for that price
Main course : cod. Good
Wine : good. Expensive prices : mark up
Service : slow
Room : warm and very noisy
Overall : expensive for what it is
Music during dinner in the Bar is too loud to have a conversation. Impacting the atmosphere negatively. Then the JD stopped 2230 and following music was pleasent.
The food was very good. The staff attentive. My only criticism is that the nose level of the dinners talking is intolerable even when it’s not full as wax the case on this night. It’s hard to have a conversation with the person. Seated opposite you. This explains part of. the problem, everyone has the s problem But how to dull it down.
We were not given any input as to where we would be sat, and the price was a shock, but the food was excellent and we were steered toward a wine that went down well!
I am afraid to say that the experience was completely underwhelming, and not in keeping with the level of standards I would expect, nor was it at the levels I have experienced from other D&D restaurants.
Whilst I appreciate it is Christmas and a busy time, below are the contributing factors to why I felt our lunch fell below the required levels of service.
•We were sat down, no one offered us a drink or a menu for around 15 minutes
•We chose two wines, both were sold out
•Three of us ordered the lamb shank. This is served in a small soup type dish which makes it difficult and unpleasant to eat from, what is wrong with a normal plate? There was no space to put any sides either, I don’t think that has been thought through properly.
•We had to top ourselves up for wine
•We were given desert menus, however no one returned to take an order for around 30-40mins until I chased a member of staff
•The tables are far too close together, I think you have tried to squeeze too many covers in, which made it incredibly noisy and difficult to hear our own conversations, there was no space between my chair and the table behind for the waiter to walk through.
Once again an excellent visit to this restaurant. It was let down by poor waiter service though, which is very unusual. Overall I recommend this restaurant
Fell very ill after eating oysters - so did other guests
Amazing Food & Service - perfect for any occasion. The staff are absolutely delightful
The £42 Dover sole was over cooked absolutely criminal, the foie gras starter had such little flavour they attempted to salt it which just ruined it, more criminal activity.
Slow to take order for drinks and food, table beside us got their main courses before us but should have been after.
Very very disappointing. Strongly advise against going to this restaurant unless you don’t have any taste buds, enjoy over cooked and over priced food.
Good overall but a bit pricey particularly the eined
I visited Coq d'argent two days back to back this week and tried both the Festive menu and the a la carte. Great food on both occasions and very well recommended wines from the Somelier.
Wow what an amazing restaurant! Everything from arrival to leaving, service discreet but always prompt and the food was out of this world! 😍
Food was very good and the set menu was good value. The a la Carte menu look very pricy. I go to the Coq d'Argent frequently and the service this time was poor
High quality food
We were not hurried at all, the courses were delivered at the pace we requested
This is a very enjoyable experience from stepping out of the lift to getting seated at the table. This is somewhere in between fine dining and casual dining. Just small things, they don't always serve from the correct side, they don't unfold your napkin and the initial drinks/cocktail ordering can seem a bit confused. We went for the 6 course truffle tasting menu with the wine recommendations. All the dishes were superb. The Cod was the winner, but all in all they really made it a great experience. The only thing for me they could have done, was trimming the veal as it was huge and a bit off-putting visually after 5 dishes and all the other dishes were 'clean plate', whereas this one had a huge bone attached that you had to fight with. All dishes tasted amazing and was clearly made to a high standard. Staff super helpful and friendly.
I really like this place having been over 20 times. The cooking is largely French (clues in the name I guess) and sound but not exceptional. The rooftop is lovely in position and usually atmospheric. Tonight however we were all crowded into one section and despite an early evening booking the noise levels soon became excessive. Starter of snail as and pasta were lovely and the roe deer succulent and well cooked. An Amuse Bouche of cauliflower soup was lovely. My problem is this is all rather staid and the prices uncompetitive even in the city. This is most obvious in a totally OTT wine list which offers very poor value. How about a page of affordable wine not based on city bonuses. Usually the service is excellent but tonight they were simply trying to hard! I’ll not give up as I love the place but disappointed on this occasion!
Starters and desserts from Parisien Feast were amazing, my granddaughter's eyes popped at the dessert choices. The beef, lamb and roast veg and potatoes were delicious. The Yorkshire pudding was sadly a little tough and I wish I had asked for more gravy. The staff are delightful, friendly and professional. A lovely Sunday lunch experience
Great food and excellent service
This is now definitely one of my favourite restaurants in London. Impeccable service whilst still friendly and enjoyable - just great food and a lunch fixed menu with lots of things I want to eat on it!!
The Coq au Vin was outstanding and the mashed potato devine!
Note to other restaurant owners - the option of half bottles of wine on a wine list is fantastic!
I always want red and white and I may not need two bottles - the option for 1 and a half is excellent.
