The dome-shaped venue on the Hoe, aptly named The Dome, was designed by architect Tony Irish. The Dome was first opened in July 1988 as part of Mayflower commemorations in Plymouth and started life as a local museum and tourist information centre.Designed to have the Art Deco feel and opulence of a 1930s ocean liner, the venue’s bar will feature an extensive wine and gin list, a selection of cocktails plus a full range of beers, ciders and soft drinks. The restaurant’s menu will feature fresh, local and seasonal produce and will include fish sourced from local day boats. We will also be offering traditional afternoon teas. There will be opportunities for private dining, small weddings and business meetings – all set against a spectacular ocean view backdrop!

The Boathouse is a waterfront, seafood café, bar and takeaway. We’re situated overlooking the Mayflower Steps and just a stone’s throw from Plymouth’s historic Barbican.
Our speciality is local fish and shellfish, sustainably caught, by our own day boats, The Sidney Rose, The Barbican Rose and the Elin D. The Scallop Shack at The Boathouse serves fresh, South West, scallops, in a variety of mouthwatering ways.
There’s also a selection of meat and vegetarian dishes and a little nipper’s menu, designed for younger salty sea dogs – all made with fresh, seasonal produce.
The Boathouse is the perfect spot for cosy coffees and delicious dining from daytime through to evening. With our retractable roof for sunnier days you can dine with us, alfresco and enjoy wonderful, waterside views.
