On our last night in London we discovered Cote-Charlotte. The food was wonderful and the staff was friendly. It was obvious they enjoyed what they offer and what they do. Also, good ambiance.
Our second visit to this restaurant - and it will not be long before we are there again!
Good food, good service, great ambience and good value!
As I am fast becoming a regular at this branch of Cote, I have noticed some very nice touches - I now tend to get my preferred table. Service is consistently good and the set menu is sufficiently varied that I am still trying to work my way through it with only one week left in the month. The Cote franchise is really excellent and it is consistenly a pleasure to dine here.
Another excellent meal at Cote Brasserie. Just love this restaurant as the service is always so good as is the food.
Service a little slow but fine for us as our purpose was a get-together lunch. I had the set meal which was good. My friend wanted something slightly different from the menu which was easily arranged. Our waiter was outstanding even finding me a striking blue plaster when a small cut on my arm opened up! There are lots of nooks and crannies in the restaurant so when it is not full, it is easy to find a quiet spot. Will return.
really pleasant dinner at Cote on Charlotte Street. Great service and food. Can't help going back!
A group of 6 of us went for a work leaving lunch. Our table was upstairs – which was a surprise as I had never even realised that there was an upstairs. We all ordered from the set menu which offers great choice for meat and fish eaters as well as vegetarians and while the food itself was good the service was sadly not. Our meal took over two hours which is not ideal in the middle of the work day. I think the problem had to do with a lack of staff on the first floor. In fairness to the restaurant, they discounted the bill to reflect the inadequate service which left us all happy enough and willing to return.
I have previously reviewed this restaurant and service for a table of 2 was not a problem.
Good wine, good food, fast lunch service, excellent value.
Having had a disappointing meal at this branch of Cote a couple of weeks ago, I ended up back again with another friend. Good news is that, the disappointing experience appears to have been a glitch in terms of food and service. I had a fantastic meal this time, generous portions and very tasty. And I would highly recommend the iced berries in white chocolate as a dessert option. Pass oath chocolate pot just once to try it!
I am a big fan of cote restaurants and with that every once in a while it is inevitable that a meal is not quite as good as previous. On my recent visit the sea bream was disappointing as I was essentially served 3 triangles of fish with beans. Actually my starter of leek vinaigrette was larger than the main meal. By contrast, my friend had the chicken chasseur which was a decent size so perhaps it is fish dishes that are served in children's portions. The apple crumble was also disappointingly small - I am sure this has been larger in different branches of Cote. Unusually I ended up having a snack at home an hour or so after the 3 course meal.
I was also very put off by service being added to the bill when there were only 2 diners. It is supposed to be a gratuity offered and adding it to the bill just makes it into a charge for the meal.
Cote is always reliable, good value, great food choices ( especially for non meat eaters) and friendly and efficient staff. Happy to recommend it.
Always a good bet for good food! Great place to meet a friend! LOVE the steak frites and chocolate pot!!
The new set menu has more choice and is a welcome change. All aspects of the meal were great
My Husband and I dined at your restaurant on Saturday 13th February at 19:00. I just wanted to inform you that we had a wonderful experience in your Charlotte Street branch, so much so, that I felt compelled to let you know.
Upon entry we were first met by ‘Front of House Manager’ Dawrad, he was so friendly and super efficient, he greeted us with a big smile and warm welcome. Once we were seated our waiter Denis was also extremely friendly and warm. He was knowledgeable about the menu and helped us select the correct wine for our meal, he was very patient letting us have tasters before making our final selection, he was so attentive throughout our meal. Our food was really yummy from starters to dessert. I loved the layout of your restaurant too, as some restaurants cram you in so you’re sat on top of other diners; here we felt we had plenty of space and our own privacy.
Please can you pass on my feedback to your Charlotte Street branch and thank you them all for a wonderful dining experience. My Husband and I have raved about this branch to our family and friends since and we look forward to dining with you again.
I normally love cote but this branch lacks lustre. Service is slow and my eggs were overlooked.
Really good food, great atmosphere, attentive staff, not overpriced. The staff were too busy - need more help.
but Cote is always a reliable choice. And the one in Charlotte Street has some really nice little alcoves that you can hide away in and enjoy the ambience.
This place lost its way late last year but is back on track now. Much better set menu choices and top notch service.
Disappointing experience after our first two times when we loved the restaurant so much we just had to come back. The food was overly salty, especially the salad which was ruined by huge amounts of salt all over. The chicken gravy was too salty as well. The apple crumble was good, but not as good as I remembered it to be the last time. Staff were friendly but hard to get their attention as we were seated near the back around the corner.
I love this place.
Last Thursday we had an excellent meal at Cote Charlotte St . The staff were very helpful, putting us in a quieter section to help one of us who has a hearing problem. We arrived unavoidably 30 minutes late but this was no problem and we had a 3 3/4 hour lunch. This again was no problem. We did not feel hurried and the atmosphere was relaxed with prompt service when needed. Perfectly cooked squid in the Breton fish stew - I had given up ordering squid for years a sit is usually over cooked, however I thought I would see if Cote cou;d do better and they certainly did
I love this place for a relaxing lunch with friends.
We like the formula that Cote has on offer but were put off using the one in Charlotte St by several recent poor reviews. However it was convenient for us so we booked -with some trepidation. Pleased to say that whatever was the cause of those poor reviews has been rectified. We had an excellent meal, served promptly and with a smile by two attentive waitresses. And had a bill that was not a nasty shock.
Happy to redress the criticism of Cote Charlotte St. We will return
I come here often and it is usually spot in but tonight it wasn't. There service was awful. I think they were stretched but a 3 course meal shouldn't take 2.5 hours.
It really just seems to be that the standard at all cote restaurants, certainly in London are consistently high. I have been to several now and invariably end up with the set menu which is unbelievable value and portions are perfectly adequate. I generally prefer to not eat meat and find that even with the set menu I often end up deliberating over what to choose. On this occasion, the soup was ok but nothing fantastic - I think this was influenced by having had another starter option the goat cheese and beetroot salad on a prior occasion which I had found much better.
However all round a very good meal and I will definitely go back.
Three of us met for lunch. We had a bottle of wine and chose the two course lunch menu. We variously had soup and beetroot salad, followed by either chicken or fish (the latter with French fries) and ended with coffee. I personally had fish, which was outstanding. There could have been a hitch because the waiter brought white wine instead of red, but he made no fuss about changing it. The ambience was good — no loud music or clatter.
Located an easy 5 minute walk from Goodge Street underground station, the Cote Brasserie in Charlotte Street has a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere and modern décor.
With a reasonably priced menu our food was great. Service was great too; the waiting staff were very friendly and efficient.
Thoroughly recommended, so well worth a visit.
Everything was great including the food, waiting service, ambience - except for the very slow delivery of the main course. We waited about 40 minutes for the main course to be served after clearing the starters. We ordered the rump of lamb, the sirloin steak and the grilled salmon - which were all very delicious dishes. It was just spoiled by the late delivery. When we asked why the mains were so late the answer came back that "there were 3 new chefs starting the lunch service today and that they were very sorry".
Cote is the average French restaurant. Expected food and service.
We waited over an hour for our main courses, when they did arrive they tasted dry and over cooked. Service was extremely slow, there was two other tables of diners but we weren't asked if we would like more drinks after arriving! A real waste of money and a disappointing expirience. We wish we'd picked another restaurant on Charlotte Street!
Great place to meet friends. Good service pleasant food options and great location.
I love Cote and eat out regularly at several of its London branches. Sadly, my last three experiences (at three different branches) have suggested that its very high standards are now beginning to slip. This was certainly the most disappointing. The staff were clearly over-stretched and not as highly trained or attentive as they usually are (we had to make a fuss just to give our order). And - for the first time ever - the food was very poor. We had the set menu becuse we didn't have a lot of time . Usually the food on these menus is surprisingy good but this time the fried chicken was dry and overcooked and would have put even Colonel Sanders to shame I had to leave it - it was frankly inedible. I wonder if all of this has anything to do with the fact that Cote has apparently just been taken over by a capital venture company. Would be very sad to see it become just another chain; it's always been so much better..
Fantastic meal and excellent service. I would highly recommend it .
Lovely place for a meet up with friends! It wasn't busy at all on Sunday night, so we enjoyed privacy.
Good section of food and wine, affordable prices.
Asked for aperol spritz, got a lemonade.
Waiters interrupted us a few times to ask whether the food is ok and would we like anything else. Looks like they were a bit bored.
Overall impression is good, but waiters should be a bit more discreet, if possible.
I booked a table here which is near a friend's work as she had an hour break. The value was insanely good (£11.70 for two courses) for the quality of the food. The green soup followed by minute steak and salad were both delish, as was my friend's a la carte Smoked Salmon. The service could have been slightly better - we were not asked for a drink order so had to ask for two glasses of wine once the food came, and the waitress was not mindful about us only having an hour. She was still very pleasant though and the overall experience was enjoyable.
We had the theatre special menu which was £11.70 for 2 courses. The salad starter followed by a delicious minute steak served with fries was amazing. The house red wine "Lagarde" was smooth and very good. Lovely experience was had by the four of us.
Having arranged to meet a client for breakfast, which Cote claim to do and indeed have a large board outside claiming they serve said meal from 8.30am (I arrived at 9.45am), it was surprising to be told they could only offer drinks. As I don't consider coffee or even a fruit juice as "breakfast" we left and went to Oscar's instead; which was excellent. I won't be returning to Cote.
I frequently go to a Cote for lunch as the food is good and very good value.
This was the first time that I had been to the Charlotte Street restaurant.
I ordered steak as usual which was tender, but arrived cold which was a disappointment
The big problem was the ambient noise making it almost impossible to have a conversation with your partner, even though they were only a metre away.
I would avoid this branch for a business or romantic meeting.
Great food and value as always, service a little lacking on this occasion but no big deal.
Excellent from the moment we walked in. Friendly welcome, great table for 6, excellent and attentive service with a smile. Absolutely delicious food and plenty of it. We had such a lovely evening. We would totally recommend this cosy Côte, a real gem.
