We had a great dinner with our 2 kids (5 and 9). Pizza was tasty, pasta were very nice and our kids shared a great and tasty gluten free pizza. One of our daughter has celiac disease and such place with tons of gluten free options is the real paradise for her. Thanks Cotto for this great family dinner!
Went with a big group. We were well served and happy.
We went to Cotto on the last day of our London vacation, and we couldn't have been happier with the food and the overall experience. One of those so-rare genuine family restaurants with fantastic food. Wish we could have gone back again.
Meh, nothing special. The tiramasu was especially banal. Sort of place you can imagine Gordan Ramsay tearing apart.
Handmade gluten free pasta, including filled ravioli!!! Tge gf pizza crust was fluffy; not the flat, crunchy crust we are usually stock with. The owner has been celiac for 30 years so he understands what is necessary to keep his celiac customers free from illness while still having tasty, authentic food. The bread was out of this world and there were multiple gf dessert options. My only recommendation would be to have more dairy free/casein free options, though that is quite difficult at an Italian restaurant. All in all, a great meal for my family and I.
Great Italian food and service, worth checking out, plenty of gluten free options.
We arrived 5 mins late for our table, to find that it had been given to other diners. The owner then tried to hurry up other diners to get a table free for us - we left before they made matters worse. Would avoid
We had a great time, a good welcome, good menu choice and the food was great too. Value was fine so we would definitely go back. Reasonably well located for us, so easy to get to.
WE had a lovely evening with lots of GF choices. The Italian owner made us feel very welcome. Great house wine too!
Well-priced, big selection, friendly hosts. Would happily go again.
We had a lovely time at Cotto, the food was great and the portions were super generous! This is one of the only places which offers almost everything on the menu as a gluten free option! Would definitely go again :)
Booked for the gluten free options as my companion is celiac. She was particularly impressed by the many options on offer and thought that this was the best restaurant offering gluten free meals that she had encountered.
The food was delicious and the service was impeccable, and we would highly recommend a visit - she did in fact go back the following evening, such was her enthusiasm for the menu.
Oldlooking restaurant, old furniture and when we enterd they couldn’t find our reservation. We were put in the back, in the corner, looking to the wall and without heating it was very cold. When we complained about it they gave us the answering that the cold was because of the weather....
The average food, covered with a supermarket-actioncorner-containerfood tomatosauce got quickly cold aswell. Costed us £ 80,-Whoeaaa! The only thing that made us glad was that we coul leave!
Our second visit and a bit less busy than previously. The usual cheery welcome, but this time we got more of the back story on the extensive range of gluten for options. Service better than previously, due to staff being less pressured. The food was good as usual and the drinks reasonably priced. We'll be back.
The restaurant is a 5 min walk from Westminster bridge. The gluten free food was very good as was the selection offered. It's a typical Italian restaurant but offers good gluten free Italian food not just pizza
Best Italian food and AMAZING Gluten Free food. Simply the best
Really like this place. Great charm, lovely house red and attentive service.
Very welcoming, efficient service and food was good. Reasonably priced and great for gluten free.
The restaurant had a lovely family feel and great ambience. I was extremely impressed with the gluten free options, however I had the gluten free pizza and couldn’t finish it as it was much too salty for my taste. I would still return and perhaps try the one of the other many options! I did really trust them to limit contamination which is extremely important for me.
Outstanding food, Outstanding Service! A+ experience at Cotto!
Nice place and clearly friendly and family run. Loads of gluten free options, but you pay for the pleasure- around a £2 premium! But great to be able to eat and drink (Peroni) totally gluten free, which is often difficult.
Probably some of the best Italian I have ever eaten. I will go back even if its out of the way next time im in London!
A rude and unwelcoming owner, cold food and slow service made this an occasion not to be repeated. Strange that there are so many glowing reviews of this place on Open Table, either a lot of people have extremely low standards or the reviews are fake. When searching for decent restaurants In future we will pay more attention to the negative posts! No way could Cotto be recommended to discriminating diners. The Three Stags just up the road saved the evening and we enjoyed a welcoming atmosphere, great pizzas and excellent service there.
We dined at Cotto five years ago, while visiting from the States. Our family has a number of food restrictions (celiac, nut allergies), so we were thrilled once we dined at this restaurant. Fantastic gluten-free pasta and bread. We spoke directly with the owner - he was great at steering us the right way, and was extremely friendly and helpful.
Earlier this week, my daughter and I just visited London again, and decided to go back to the restaurant. I'm pleased to say that we were just as happy with the food quality as we were on our first trip. It was great to catch up with the owner again, as well.
I would enthusiastically recommend Cotto to anybody.
Great Gluten Free Options
My daughter had a great gluten-free pizza. My son ate regular pizza which was great too! we had wonderful pasta and starters
Nice Hospitality by the Italian owner
Simple and nice Italian family atmosphere
Good value for money
Wonderful authentic restaurant in Lambeth - loved the menu and the wine. Will be returning soon.
Excellent food and a lively atmosphere. Always seems to be busy so wise to book in advance.
Family run, authentic, just go there!
Found this when leaving the Lambeth Tube.
Looked online and decided it was worth a visit.
You will either be very hot or freezing depending on where you sit.
Room really small and crowded.
Service is very inconsistent. Food...eh. really not great
Excellent gluten free menu. Fantastic if you are coeliac.
This is basically fast food. Do not go if you are expecting a fine Italian meal
This place was adorable. The owner was delightful. I felt like we were in Italy. Service and food were great!
Charming restaurant with wonderful staff - including the owner. Authentic Italian food in the centre of London. Very handy for the Old Vic and South Bank. Really enjoyed it.
Excellent homely Italian cuisine, authentic, friendly and communicative staff, good drinks selection - what's not to like ! Non vedo ora di ritornare e prendere un altro Amaro Lucano - buona fortuna a tutti !
I've never been high-fived for being the difficult one at the table before! I'm on a Low FODMAP diet (medical) which can make eating out really difficult and sometimes quite embarrassing. At Cotto you're made to feel special no matter what to can or can't eat! Their homemade gluten free bread was delicious, and my specially crafted main met my dietary requirements and was the loveliest gluten free pasta I've tasted. Portions are generous, especially the bresaola, and my non-fussy friend enjoyed her dinner just as much. Looking forward to going back and trying the pizza!
The food quality was pretty poor and we both had stomach issues after. Formica tables in a cafe - not very cosy.
Booked Cotto for an after show meal for my partners birthday as I am coeliac - the owner was great - only pizzas as very late (after 22.30) but fine as he could provide me with gluten free - best gf pizza I've had in last year since diagnosed and we'll be back earlier to sample full menu as fantastic service.
Had a tasty meal and good size portions before theatre.
We were a group of 8 from work, so trying to find a venue that suited everyone, including a vegetarian and coeliac diet, was potentially challenging. However Cotto could cater for everyone, without a fuss. The food portions are generous and the atmosphere is welcoming; no fuss or pretentions and no long waits between courses. Everyone had a good time and would happily return there for the next team meal out. The only (slightly) negative aspect was that, although the booking was clearly made for 8 people - we booked electronically, so could produce the evidence of this, they insisted that we had booked for 6 people; although 2 extra places were quickly added to our table it was a bit cramped. If the restaurant had been very busy, it would have been a squash for some people. So if you have a big party, even if you book electronically, it might be worth giving them a ring to double check the numbers. This would certainly not put me off eating there again. It is a great place, great food, plenty of it, a warm atmosphere and convenient location for access to stations.
Average pasta in a poorly decorated restaurant.
