The appetizers (shrimp and crab cakes) were very good. The wine selection was good. The lobster bisque (2 bowls) was the worst I ever had. <\My wife finished less than 20% of hers and I didn't do much better. You would think the waiter might ask if there was a problem with the soup since we hardly ate any of it, but no. The prime steaks were tender, but that's where the good news stops. For $55 I expect a steak at least an inch think. Council Oak didn't measure up. Both my wife and I did not care for the flavor as well. It was a little "strange. It didn't seem like the steak was seared - a noticeable lack of any blood. If you go, order the seafood. It looked better.

We had a wonderful dinner date at Council Oak Service was prompt and we were seated very quickly for our reservation. The staff was very attentive and friendly. We started of with the seafood tower which was amazing. I ordered the bone in New York strip 16oz and my wife ordered the Chilean Sea Bass. Our sides were lobster Mac and cheese and asparagus. The steak melted in my mouth and her sea bass was extraordinary. I personally couldn't have enough of the lobster Mac and cheese sharing very little with my wife lol. After all that food we were hesitant to have dessert but our waiter insisted we have the creme brulee and it did not disappoint. Highly recommend you make a reservation in advance as it was a very busy evening but again service was top of the line. Will return

The restaurant is well appointed and visually interesting. We ordered appetizers, three different cuts of steak and several sides. The steaks were very tender and quite good, it seemed as though they were seated over a wood grill and then baked. The au gratin potatoes were very good. The duck fat hash browns were just ok. I can’t recall the other sides, not memorable. What really made a lasting impression was the poor service. The wait staff was inattentive and had not very professional. Our waiter never checked in with us and every single time a course was cleared we had to ask for silverware and wait and wait. It was very loud. There are so many great restaurants in Fort Lauderdale with excellent food and service. We won’t be returning.

Mediocre. Have had much better here. Service was forgettable and my Tomahawk steak was way to charred on outside almost burnt and very fatty, even for a ribeye. King crab was mushy and Shrimp cocktails were much smaller than expected. Shrimp should be U8-U10 for $20 these were maybe large at best and most likely overcooked. Everything had great flavor but for Council oak and the price paid the experience and food was not up to par.

We have dinner at council oak before, and I was very disappointed. The steaks didn’t taste the greatest. It will be a long time before we return.

My Fiance and I eat here quite a bit. We frequent the restaurant about once a month, but this time stood out amongst the rest. Our server Alexander was the main reason for this. He was extremely personable and made some great recommendations due to the fact that I follow a pescatarian diet. I had the lobster thermidor and my better half had the filet, after we had shrimp cocktail and colossal crab cocktail to start. Thank you for giving us a great night Alex. You're a stand up guy and a solid server.
