It’s become our regular local dim sum place. Delicious food and very good service! Thank you!
Fab restaurant, super lovely staff and delicious food, cocktails & wine. And amazing decor!
A perfect date venue, great atmosphere, friendly staff, good range of dishes (even for veggies). We didn't know what to order so simply asked for a selection of veggie dishes of their choice. We were not disappointed. The fabulous burlesque performer topped our evening off perfectly and was a great talking point! Will definitely be back.
The place has potential but Is just amature. The service was poor - our waiter couldn't tell us what dim sum he was delivering, and the drinks we ordered after sitting down didn't arrive be till half way through the meal.
The food was average.
We were there in a Friday night and there was entertainment. Could be cute but just felt like the place was trying to do everything and not winning at anything.
This is such a unique and well hidden gem. Service is always friendly and never rushed and the pinched crab dumplings are insanely good. The cocktail list is also a bibulous delight.
Great place with plenty of choice in dim sum and had Peking duck on the menu too!
Lovely dim sum, ambience and great service. Great for date night or a natter with friends!
Second time and bit underwhelmed of the vibe on a cold Monday night... but that should be expected. Great cocktails.
A bit hit or miss on some of the dishes but overall good.
Very average. The food was a disappointment as was the restaurant as a whole. Too expensive for what it is.
Food is average but service was absolutely shocking. We waited far too long to order drinks/food initially. Once our food had been served, no one came over to ask if we wanted more drinks during our meal. Trying to get the attention of the staff was impossible, they were too busy chatting/making cocktails with their back to the room. The waiter then forgot we had asked for the bill and took an age to take our payment. Would not recommend this place to anyone.
Decent food, quirky ambience and a charming burlesque show. It had ingredients for a perfect date night. The food could have a notch better and so could have been the service - they forgot to inform that kitchen was closing.
Terrible service, the manager got a lot of the order wrong which was a shame as the food is very good!
Went here for a date. Food was super filling, tasty and great value. I particularly enjoyed the fried squid and the Waygu beef sliders. Cocktail menu was lengthy & plenty to choose from. Such a great find in Brixton. I went for an early dinner when it was still quiet and it felt Romantic. Service was a little slow - but the food and ambience made up for it and we certainly didn't feel rushed. Will definitely be back again.
Food was really nice but the service could do with being more attentive. They gradually cleared away our plates from the table without asking if we were finished or how the food was.
This is my second visit and I was not disappointed. The food and cocktails are sublime. The decor is fantastic and all in all, a great place to spend my birthday.
Only slight issue was having to get up and walk to the bar to get the attention of the staff. Had they come to us, we probably would have ordered more food and drink. But that was the only minor comment.
Great food, brilliant service. Will definitely be back.
An very unusual space with a small stage. Some seating small and interestingly shaped but added to the ambience of what was a very authentic dim sum restaurant. Food delicious but live singer was the ticket. Fabulous voice and operatic arias. A great programme and enthusiastically received.
Terrible terrible experience ! Extremely over priced for a bland, uninspired menu. Worse than that was the fact that we spent almost £60 on expensive cocktails which had watered down alcohol in them - three in and the only buzz I could feel was my blood sugar rising from the sugary concenrate juice used to make them. Very angered by our visit.
Meal was good and pleasant service
Disappointing. Went because it was recommended as amongst the best dim sum in London. It was not. Surely service, below average food and not atmosphere.
Great fun great food and great atmosphere. Service excellent, creative men and menu written will an enormous sense of fun
When booking I requested a certain table as it was where me and my boyfriend had our first date. It was his birthday so wanted the same one which they kindly kept for me. The food was amazing just as the last time. Service was amazing too as before.
What I love about this place too is the ambience in candle light and the decor and music. The tables are spaced out enough to enjoy a private conversation and it's a nice chilled out crowd.
I would highly recommend this place. The roasted pork bao and dumplings are so tasty.
Unassuming and a great place to go with friends or a date.
Chefs are doing a great job, food was lovely. But the front of house staff let the show down, one in particular, who was obnoxious, abrupt and dismissive and actually sent us away telling us the kitchen was closed when it wasn't. We persevered by making a booking through opentable which he couldn't argue with.
Very nice. Great food and good service. Will definitely come back.
Courtesan was really cute, a nice place to have a date and romantic. Really enjoyed our meal, dim sum were tasty but nothing outstanding. Nice to have a few unusual options on the menu. The cocktails were delicious. Overall, food good, service good - nothing amazing but really enjoyable. I'd come back for another date.
Great dim sum spot with great atmosphere, had issue with booking however manager accommodated. Will definitely return and recommend
Had dim sum for dinner on a busy Saturday night. I think they were a bit short-staffed on the night in question as we waited a long time for them to take our food order. Fortunately we had cocktails to keep us entertained in the meanwhile, which were creative and good. Once we ordered the food though, it came pretty quickly. Really good dim sum and we both enjoyed it. I would return again and hopefully the slow service was a one-off.
Amazing dumplings and chinese buns. Nice decor, authentic, antique wood tables. Service discreet and efficient. Very good Merlot.
Impressed by the all female concept of Courtesan! Lovely interior, which strangely I hear they will be renovating. Amazing cocktail list and a wonderful comprehensive dim sum menu. Great flavours on the vegetarian dumplings. Pork dishes also very good. Would recommend both for a date but also very fun with a group of friends. Only let down was the service which should have been more attentive.
Good food and service. Decent price
The food here was excellent along with the cocktails. Service could of felt friendlier.
a lovely sexy place in the heart of brixton. The dim sum are authentic and the cocktails are perfectly matched to the decadent theme!
This is the second time I have eaten in Courtesan and again I was not disappointed. The cocktails are perfect for after work wind-down (when you finally manage to choose one of the array available) food is excellent and the staff friendly. One of my party was a first time dim-sum diner and also found it delicious. A winner!
Great restaurant in Brixton (one which takes bookings!!). Delicious food, good selection of different dishes and substantial portions. Definitely recommend for a dim sum fix!
I like the experience of Dim Sum, with its variety of different dishes. It's more interesting than the standard rice and noodle dishes. Courtesan do it very well. The food is very nice and all the dishes are really well presented. The service is good and they don't keep pestering you which I prefer. Nice decor as well.
Courtesan is very different from your average Chinese restaurant. They specialise is small sharing dishes or dim sum. The prawn and bean curd cheung fun were amazing. We even ordered an extra portion! The food came quickly and the staff were polite. The cocktail menu has a good range of cocktails but they were not particularly good. They were much better last time we went so maybe it was an off day!
Just after we left, I received an email from open table saying that we should let the restaurant know if we weren't going to turn up! The restaurant had said we were a no show!
Despite that, I recommend courtesan for it's lovely food!
Great food at a good price!
The food is extremely tasty! Best dim sums I've ever had so far to be honest.
Booked this place before going to a friends party. Checked the place at trip advisor and experienced same as other reviewers. Some dishes are great and others very poor. Service was friendly but not overwelcoming, giving to the point we were the only guest. Real nuisance was lack of cleanliness. Couple of tables were still dirty and nobody took care for the whole time our stay. Once again we were the only customers for the whole time eating there.
Have been a few times so it is interesting to see a few menu changes. I like the idea of slightly fusion dumplings although not keen on mayonnaise on soft shell crab. This is a personal quibble but I think that they are something that should only have salt and sichuan pepper or very light dry seasoning on them as the mayonnaise overwhelms the flavour and dampens the crispy texture... One suggestion would be to have it indicated how many dumpling portions you are going to get with each item (to make sharing and calculating easier)...
