Service was amazing, my glass never reached the bottom, the food was a good taste but the portion size was too small for me! My main came out with one egg and what looked like half a chicken breast. They got my order wrong with my dessert when I said just the white chocolate ice cream, this came out with raspberry. Overall it was ok but ended up getting a McDonald’s after as we were still hungry.
Pretty basic food- the menu is misleading. Cocktails are extremely overpriced for what they are. Although the service was good, next time we will eat elsewhere.
Beautiful restaurant great food and service
No better way to spend a Sunday treat yourself to something a bit different
My Boyfriend and I came to celebrate our Birthdays on Saturday 18th and both wanted to try the Crazy Bear after hearing such great things. Unfortunately we were both unwell following our visit which has completely tarnished the evening for us both.
After emailing to inform the staff at Beaconsfield Crazy Bear we have been left feeling as if we have made it up and it couldn't possibly be down to the food we were served.
We are both extremely disappointed and feel like this could have been handled so much better.
Best meal I’ve ever had - the quality & service here is faultless! Huge choice of food & I require gluten free which is all clearly marked on the menu. It was that’s nice we’ve already booked to dine again in just over a week.
Absolutely wonderful, staff excellent, food excellent. I have been before for daughters birthday treat. Wish you were nearer to Reading.
The decor is stunning and the service is excellent, you would therefore expect the food to be so. Unfortunately the kitchen must have had an off day as it was average at best. The sizzle was far better than the sausage. Our guests were less complimentary and their starters were removed from the bill. I Would go back and try again in the hope that in was just a ‘blip’.
Love the atmosphere, although a bit dated it is still quite unique. Unfortunately the restaurant food (English one) leaves a lot to be desired. High price is fine if the quality is there, sadly our expensive dinner wasn’t. As an example the fish sharing platter was dry, overcooked and I’m prepared to bet frozen, not to mention probably generous for one but definitely small for 2 people. You can find a lot better for the price. Definitely won’t be back again.
We enjoyed the food, ambience and services. The evening was one to remember for a long time in a positive light.
Lovely lunch , great decor and very good service. We all really enjoyed it.
Food and service was amazing, couldn’t fault it. Good value for money and a great experience
fantastic place, and wonderful food and service, would love to come back again, well worth it, food and service was top notch.. thank you crazy bear
We had an amazing meal 1st class. Service was perfect. We can't wait to go back
Been here lots of times and it has always been great but the other night was a real disappointment food was cold so much so I cud taste the fat on my roast potatoes and had to been sent back. Had stomach pains all night after
I have used the restaurant many times over the years. This was the first visor we have had when the service has been friendly from all staff. Crazy Bear has always had a rep of being quite snooty with you as the customer and not particularly friendly or engaging. Many of my friends have always felt the same. It’s almost like you were not really good enough to be a customer there. I know they have had feedback on it before having read reviews and chatted to friends. This feedback has clearly been listened to as all staff smiled at us, said hello and goodbye, thanked us and the waitress was absolutely lovely and brilliant service. This is 180 degrees different from the many visits I’ve had before. Maybe it was down to the team on this day - but hopefully not and this is a positive sign of things to come. If you have tried to change then it has started to work. It’s the only thing that used to put me and Friends going there so this was a nice surprise. Thankyou.
Very nice food and service had a lovely evening. We will definitely be going back to try the Thai
The restaurant itself, at first glance, looked great. There were parts that were tired and in need of being replaced, our seat for example, where the leather was ripped. The staff were lovely and very attentive. However, one of them spilt red wine over my dress, and although he was genuinely mortified, no compensation was offered. The food was good, lacked in flavour in places, but overall we were happy. We loved the music being played and had a lovely eveing, despite the mishap!
Despite making a booking for 8pm and arriving earlier to have a drink at the bar to be on time for the booking, we were repeatedly told our table was not ready.
Had a lovely evening in the English restaurant! Food was amazing
Beautiful food - was very impressed. Drinks were pricey but what you’d expect there. Disappointed that they boast a cigar room and sell good cigars but then expect you to stand outside and smoke. Also disappointed that we were reminded that they’d need the table back and we’d not even been in there the full two hours. You’d have thought they’d have made an exception for a party of four who were spending over £600!!!
Good value Xmas lunch , but nearly walked out as when asked bar staff if we get a glass of champagne included in meal was told no, when I challenged her and said but when I booked on line it stated champagne included in Xmas lunch, she checked and said no you don’t get?? We then went into restaurant and sure enough it was included with meal!! How can staff be so misinformed not to know their Xmas menus! Overall very good meal excellent value
Food was lovely and they surprised me with a happy birthday desert as the hotel knew it was my birthday was a lovely surprise and a nice way to end the meal
For a restaurant that charges a fair bit the bread should have been free and more plentiful. We had the sharing sea food platter which was overly seasoned and not pleasant. The prawns were swimming in a soy sauce and overly cooked as they were mushy inside. The cod was bitter to taste. The green bean were oily and tasteless.
The ribeye was good and the rosti was excellent. We lost interest with ordering from the dessert menu because as we were given the menu to review dessert we were then promptly told we had only 30mins to enjoy dessert and teas/coffees.
Our waiter Ross was pleasant and attentive, it’s just the restaurant policy of turning tables fast for maximum profit.
Had the best lambs liver dish that I have ever had, perfectly cooked and presented and absolutely delicious! The side of French green beans were also perfect. A in a hurry so didn't have a starter or a main. Highly recommended restaurant.
Took food away waited for ages
Excellent service, excellent food and excellent environment. Would definitely recommend!
The food was delicious although the soup was cold. The service was good, turkey was moist and cooked to perfection. Big fireplace was great too.
We had a lovely celebration lunch. Great food and good service. Lovely atmospheric restaurant. I would recommend.
On arriving early had a coffee. I was frankly horrified that the charge for this was £4.80. The coffee wasn’t even warm and I had to ask for some hot milk to warm it up. Bill also included 13% service charge. For a coffee really!!!
Worst main meal I have ever eaten. For example , the potatoes were inedible .
Also my partner has a severe nut allergy and they did not bite this after 3 phone calls . They also could not communicate what they were putting on their plates .
So although a lot of things were not right, i will say me and my partner did have a great night but there were some things that troubled us. I think the first thing to say is about the prices. We went to the bar before dinner and the price list on the drinks is almost laughable. You'd think you were in Mayfair when you look at the whisky prices alone but fine. We had a cocktail each which wasn't the best we've had there. We were taken to the table without our coats being taken all night so we were the only ones with coats slung on the back of our chairs. As our table was at 9pm and we felt very rushed throughout the meal. We ordered the surf and turf for £37.something which we thought was going to come out on a platter like normal shared meals but it came on 2 plates of which the portion sizes seemed inadequate for the price paid. The chateaubriand tasted very nice but the lobster tail didnt taste fresh and could have been mistaken for a crayfish it was so small. When the bill came we were pretty shocked at the total amount as well as the 13.5% service charge (which the staff do not receive). We could have spent less somewhere like The Coach and had more food as well as drinks for less. We asked the service charge to be taken off as there is no way we are paying if the servers do not receive every penny. Our main concerns were the prices paid for the quality and quantity received. If you don't believe us just walk in and take a look at the spirits and what they actually are. Very basic selection which is massively overpriced
Attended the crazy bear for my wife and I’s birthday... very good service and value for money. Was so full from the starters and mains that we did not order desert.
Lovely food, however would of been nice if on the menu corriander was in the starter - not allergic but dislike the taste. I had risotto for my main which was plentiful and tasteful. Crumble for pudding was nice yet lacking in size portion. Overall was a lovely experience
We have visited the Crazy Bear many times. We always have a drink before in the main bar and then we have a lovely meal. We've never been disappointed.
Great experience and I would definitely do it again.
The guys at the Bear gave us a nice booth table for our daughters birthday, good food and enjoyable evening.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere.
Would definitely recommend to everyone.
I felt the portion size of the Surf and Turf was small considering its price. I was pleased we ordered enough sides to make the meal wholesome. Quality of the food was excellent just not enough meat. A lovely meal.
Really lovely decor and very good service. Food was good and came on time. We had the set menu so it was good value.
Very good atmosphere. Staff are amazing very attentive and welcoming.
