Great venue and good service for drinks at bar . Not too noisy and food good value for what we had. Service in restaurant also v good
Have visited on many occasions, however this time was through a voucher for Sunday Lunch given to us as a gift (purchased directly through the CB). Shocked to find out that they present you will a bill for the cost of the meal (and an overrated price for the Champagne which coincidentally is not one that appears on their menu!) to add a service charge, then deduct the food and drink, so you are still presented with a charge to settle on a prepaid gift voucher. Dissapointing ........ I would have happily paid a service charge on any extras consumed, but when a prepaid dining experience is sold as a gift I would certainly (if I was giving this to someone as a present) not expect for them to have to pay extra just to take advantage of the gift
Have visited this restaurant many times. This time was for my birthday. Food was lovely and so we're the cocktails.
Food was great , environment was great, wine was great - relatively expensive , but you know that when you book - vibe was really good, highly recommended
Lovely atmosphere, cocktails are lovely and food is decent . Service is good !
Fantastic meal as usual, cannot fault it at all - always a family favourite.
It be useful to turn the lights up just a little to make it easier to read the menu.
We went for lunch to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It was a strange experience. Before the meal we had a drink in the bar area which is lovely but staff were cleaning the tables during our lunchtime drink.
The restaurant really needs to be revamped. The white leather furniture is dirty and tired. On the bench I was on there was a hole through the leather. We ordered an appetiser which was lovely but before we could even finish our starters arrived. These were good. My husband enjoyed his main course but mine was a bit of a disaster. I ordered fish and chips! The first attempt at the fish was quite disgusting - crispy batter but the fish was soggy, over cooked mush. The waitress kindly took it away and organised another. Again the batter was marvellous but the fish, though at least there were flakes of fish periodically, was not the standard expected. Very disappointed with this dish and the tatty surroundings. I would not recommend this restaurant, sadly. I've been a few years ago to the English restaurant and it was of a much higher standard in all areas.
I felt like we were on a conveyor belt.. They want you in and out as quick as poss. You do have a 2 hour slot but we have a baby and she was asleep and woke up 5 mins before the end of our slot and we had to move into the bar area so she could eat. I also felt it a bit patronising that when we asked for 2 glasses of champagne the person serving lent down to remind me the cost of the 2 glasses would be! Maybe i looked as though i couldnt afford them - or maybe because £25 for a glass is extortionate!!! Either way i think they have lost the draw.. more interested in filling the place up with groupon customers on offers. Disappointing.
Overrated but still enjoyable. Would go again but wouldn’t rush back either.
Lovely quirky restaurant with lots to look at, a bit pricey for the same menu that you can get in your local pub, but tasted lovely & presented well
Fabulous atmosphere lovely friendly professional staff. It was a very special and memorable lunch with my daughter. We will be returning soon. Loved it.
We were on the way back from London and popped in, so impressed will go back again as a date night and stay over. Food was lovely as was the service.
Excellent food,excellent service,stunning surroundings
I have been several times to this restaurant and each experience has been good. The menu is varied and good, service prompt although we did have to ask for our bread 3 times! This is a very unusal venue and definitely worth the money for the experience.
We went for our anniversary meal, we had the £33 plus fizz fixed menu, it was lovely but not the menu we had seen online so was slightly disappointed as the choices were quite different. The food was amazing, service great and they never let our wine glasses get empty, it was fairly quiet being a sunday evening so the usual buzz from a restaurant wasnt there but it was still a lovely evening. I've been to the Stadhampton one many a times so it was nice to try the Beaconsfield one this time.
The real disappointment was that our mains were brought to the table before our starters.. then when they corrected this. Our meals were kept under the hear light.. making the salads warm and limp and the steaks begin to dry out... i mentioned before they were bought out again to the waitress that i wanted her to make sure the food hadn’t been kept waiting and was going to be cooked fresh. She confirmed they would. But this did not happen.. the food was good but this was disappointing when paying over £200 for a meal for two people.
Amazing service , very lavish surroundings the perfect place to go with your partner , the food was absolutely scrumptious
Lovely evening for just two of us. Great ambiance, just had a slightly loud group nearby but what can you do!
Amazing food and service. Absolutely loved the Chateaubriand - cooked to perfection.
A brilliant birthday dinner and the highlight of our stay at the hotel.
From the minute we walked in everything was perfect. The welcome at the front desk. The service. The food. The drinks. No complaints at all
I visited for a celebration meal with family. The food and ambience were good but the service was a little slow - we waited too long to be offered the complimentary fizz and the waiter was not confident answering questions about dairy-free dishes. However he came up with a great solution so my daughter could enjoy a dessert. The mains were substantial and tasty but there was not much for vegetarians on the fixed menu - the fish dish had chorizo in so there was only one other choice. Our desserts were lovely and the sharing Baked Alaska was a triumph!
I felt the music was a bit overbearing considering there were not many diners.
Very good food. Beautiful restaurant. I had the sweet potatoes curry which was amazing. Great cocktails. Good service. I recommend it.
Very good Sunday lunch menu with plenty of options. Took a while to get served however the waiter who then took over got everything back on track and was very attentive
Great food , great service and quirky place. Would highly recommend.
It's style over substance - fine if that's what you want but I was disappointed.
This is rather average gastro pub food with service that is awkward and insincere. Somewhere to see and be seen but not a culinary or enjoyable experience.
The environment is unique and quite special - a mix of Elizabethan boudoir and hunting lodge with adorned stuffed animal heads setting off the luxurious, dark, padded décor. No shortage of talking points and lots to look at!
The greeting was brusque. Three people operating front of house (one man, two women) was too many and I'm not sure they understand customer service - they just wanted us in and seated as quickly as possible. No explanation given about the menu or any dishes that were unavailable.
The waiter was pleasant but not experienced. It took fully 15 minutes for us to be asked if we wanted a drink. After another 10 minutes the wine arrived but we had to ask again for water. The dish my wife chose (cod & prawn curry) turned out to be unavailable. No alternative suggested or offered. The wine is kept away from the table and refilled by the waiter - an attempt to appear like a premium establishment but actually just a ploy to get you to drink more quickly and order some more. The waiter had clearly been schooled in what passes for customer service - "is this a special occasion?", "any big plans for tomorrow?" - but it was forced and didn't work. Not his fault, he just wasn't trained properly.
The food wasn't great. The "bruschetta" was a poorly sliced avocado with a bit of tomato on a slice of toast. King Scallops were OK but slightly overcooked and in the best restaurants the roe is removed (although I quite like it). The chicken kiev was OK and home made. Belly pork was too big, under-cooked and under seasoned but the veg were good.
Overall, a hyped-up establishment really only fit for Instagram.
The 8 tables in front room were all empty by 9.30 on a Saturday night. Says it all really.
Quirky place, great Good, worth a visit
Went on Friday evening 24th August 2019 to check out whether it would be a good place for a 21st for 10 people later in the year. My wife's starter (bruschetta with avocado and tomatoes) was well presented but the bruschetta was burnt. My starter (gravlux and beetroot was v-e-r-y nice. Her main - salmon - was also very good. My main, ribeye, medium rare, with rösti, was an utterly tasteless slab of meat (although the rösti was good). I was offered a replacement; went for same again (thinking it can't be that bad a second time ) and expected a rare steak, emergency replacement, to be back on the table inside 5 minutes. It arrived 20 minutes later, just as bad, this time with burnt rösti and, of course, my wife has now finished her salmon so we both ended up eating on our own. Mate, you need a new butcher and a prioritisation process.
Asked for the bill, which arrived complete with full price steak plus full service charge; eventually the service charge was removed and the price of the steak reduced to "only" half. Needless to say we won't be taking 10 people there, or ourselves ever again.
Great customer service
Food was Delicious
Only thing was just too noisy and tables to near each other
Would Definitely go back
Gorgeous food and decor, really helpful staff looking forward to next time
Every time I visit I just fall in love With this place all over again.
You always get a lovely welcome staff are all really friendly the service is wonderful along with the food.
Excellent food, big menu, good gluten free and veg options
Great value for money and great food and service. I would certainly recommend this venue.
Good atmosphere and good service. Had a lovely evening
We ordered the Surf and Turf to share for our main course and some light bites for the wait. The food was served in good time and was delicious. The service was excellent too and we were kept topped up with drinks during the course of the meal. An excellent experience all round.
Black truffle Macaroni had truffle oil instead of black truffle. Chassagne Montagy was listed as 2013 but was 2017 when came.
The first item was pointed out at order but the second was not.
Visited for lunch and although we had seen an express menu online we were only given the full menu and had to ask the waiter if it was available. Great value and great choice. Food was amazing and big portions too! We ordered a starter each and shared them between the three of us. Sardines, chicken livers, and an aubergine dish. For mains we had the chicken escalope, smoked haddock with poached egg, and the pulled pork belly and apple sauce in a toasted brioche bun. Then, although we were pretty full, we ordered the baked Alaska. Recommended for 2 people, but again we shared it three ways. Flambeed at the table and served with fresh raspberries. Would easily have served four people and it was an amazing end to our meal.
Loved it here. Food was delicious and the decor is beautiful. Will definitely come back
Just a bit too noisy with a Birthday celebration on the nearby table. All the rest was perfect. Good experience.
Amazing food and service as usual. The only downside is the "optional" service charge of 13.5% that is added on, not very optional when it is already added to the bill.
