Tables were crammed togther, leaving little privacy from surrounding people.
We were sat on a long sofa chair which was uncomfortable to sit on
Our table was wobbly too
We went there for my birthday service was amazing plus I had to wait quite a long time for a cocktail that was on the house.
Good atmosphere, but food average, meat was very tough. Service was mixed.
Great atmosphere and very attentive service. Would definitely revisit
We had a baby with us who is 6 months and did not require extra attention as she could sit on my lap, but it was made into extra big deal.. started moving tables.. rearranging stuff, got few complaints directly as well “should let us know in advance”. Well sometimes it doesn’t work that way when you have babies...!
So we felt very unwelcome from the beginning. The service was below average and food was good, apart from duck salad which was pretty bad, didn’t eat it! We come there all the time, but I think we will take a break and look for alternatives with better service
Food and service was overall very very good, certainly on par with what I’ve had before dining and staying with the Crazy Bear Group.
We arrived and stood at the entrance for appx 8 minutes before anyone acknowledged us and when we were, we were given the index followed by one moment please.
This was disappointing as I’ve been here twice before and there has always been someone at the TIL ready to accommodate us.
When we were finally seated it took an amazing amount of time before we were even asked for our drinks. I had to make a point of welcoming back the waiter to our table.
Food was amazing as always but on today’s occasion my experience was severely overpriced.
Very disappointed that I was embarrassed I had suggested the restaurant.
Food was good, venue was underwhelming!
Drinks expensive but god choice. Staff friendly not as professional as most high end restaurants.
Great food and excellent service with flamboyance stemming from the decor to head of house. Had a great time.
Pork rib starter very nice. Green Thai curry tasty. Salted caramel dessert not pleasant. Champagne was corked. Charged for water, but not made clear that this would be the case. Overall, meal and service ok but not worth £33 per head. Disappointing given the photos of the restaurant online. The glitzy part is the bar downstairs, not the restaurant.
Great food and venue however the service was horrid, having to consistently wait to get a waiters attention as no one checked in on us, after they had cleared the table they left us there for 20 minutes before I managed to grab someone’s attention to get the bill, and then charged 13% waiting charge! Completely ridiculous
The table was 40 minutes late. No apology, no explanation. Just it wasn’t ready. They sat us downstairs in a corner in the bar where no one took our drink order after 20 mins. I think they couldn’t see us there. We ended up sitting at the bar. The barman was great.
The sides were limited here - nothing potato based. My bf really wanted the seafood sharing platter which just doesn’t really go with noodles or Chinese rice. The sitting is next to each other not opposite which wasn’t my favourite.
The waiter was great.
Beaconsfield at crazy bear is wonderful - so that is my comparison
We went for a birthday meal. The service was excellent we were very well looked after. They gave us a birthday dessert with a candle and a complimentary glass of champagne. The waitress was very attentive. The only slight issue we did not like the sitting arrangement we were very close to next table.
Nice interesting cocktails, albeit on the pricey side. It was incredibly quiet for a Thursday evening, although that made it nice and easy to chat. Nice place - as long as you don’t mind it being so dark!
The food was amazing I cannot deny that but you are so cramped in your almost sitting on the next tables lap . Even worse when you have to get up for toilet or to leave as you almost put you butt in there faces to squeeze out from the table . Food was great but wouldn’t eat here again .
Friendly staff and food fabulous!! Definitely go there again
Excellent service, food & nice glass of champers on arrival. My only disappointment was the excessive service charge on my bill. Bit of a damper after an excellent meal.
Customer service was outstanding, food is delicious & value for money. Moot was very helpful and really friendly. I’ll definitely recommend this place. The bar is really cute aswell for after dinner meals.
The food was delicious, however the actual seating area was very hot and that made it quite uncomfortable at first but eventually they put on the AC.
Our booking was at 4:30pm, we picked our dishes and went to order sushi as a starter but the waitress told us that the sushi chef only works from 5pm. so we needed more time to decide-it would have been nice to be told this before we was seated. when 5pm came around we asked to order sushi, they told us that the chef was running late for work and hadn't turned up yet, so we asked them to let us know when he turned up; which they did so we managed to finally get the sushi! it was delicious, small but worth the wait.
everything we had from the menu was delicious (duck spring rolls, satay chicken, crab sushi, prawn pad thai and lobster pad thai). They even surprised my partner with a birthday dessert!.
quite pricey but we would come again for the quality of the food.
3-course food was below par, seating setting for dinner wasn’t great
I used to come here a lot but hadn't been for a while. We checked in and confirmed we had a table, went down stairs for drinks and our table was given away. Finally we got a table. Service was either over attentive or absent, no happy medium and the food was average. I was considering joining the covent garden club, but given the other options in london, I'll give it a miss
Food was amazing, service was poor for the price you are paying, you buy a bottle and had to keep on getting the waitress attention for a top up, when your spending £130 on a bottle you would expect them to at least come over, the waitress gave the impression she would much rather have been somewhere else on saturday night which is understandable, where as the waiter was the polar opposite and very polite and effective at his job - so luck of the draw but I guess when paying top end prices you expect consistency, while the food was sublime and equally as good Roka or Nobu for example, the service was lacking in comparison. This was highlighted with Dessert we ordered dessert and 2 cocktails and the cocktails turned up about 15 mins after the dessert - strange. The Seating was strange as went with my wife and we sat next to each other as that was how the seating was designed - a row of 2 seater tables which felt strange - but being 40 that's probably my age! expecting to sit opposite . So as long as your prepared for inconsistent service and different seating styles ( if you were in a group of 4 you did get to to sit opposite - so not a problem) then it's worth going to, the salt and pepper baby squid was out of this world.
Food totally amazing, cocktail staff fantastic, dinner waiter...... useless. Sorry.
My wife and I went here for dinner because it was conveniently located and had previouy had good reviews, and we wanted to eat Thai food. However, our experience was a bit disappointing and it also seemed to be the same for other customers that evening as we overheard a few others complaining about various aspects of their experience of eating there that evening. I think their basic problem is they are trying to serve more customers than they can realistically cope with and quality of service suffers as a result.
Service was great, they made a special effort for my friends birthday. But the chairs are tatty, worn and uncomfortable. Salted caramel butter dessert was mostly inedible but the starters and mains were lovely!
We visited prior to going to the theater so didn't have much time BUT what time we had was excellent. A special mention must go to the cocktail bar which was amazing although you do pay for the treat. The meal was all great quality the only frustration was having chosen the fixed price three course meal there was SO many additional costs meaning the bill came to very nearly double what was expected on a "fixed" price menu option
I celebrated my birthday here with my husband. The restaurant is nice and quirky although in need of a refurb as some of the chairs are very worn. The food was amazing as always.
Amazing team , amazing food to compliment my great company.
Really enjoyed my dinner. The food was amazing and the staff were great. The atmosphere was also nice.
We though the food was fantastic but we were at first seated at a terrible table - my husband had his back to a corridor with everyone bashing into him so we asked to be moved. I don’t know why they set the tables up like this - the next couple also asked to be moved from that table!!
Birthday meal for my husband - we started with cocktails downstairs, which were really nice. Upstairs the ambience was not so good - too many table packed into a very small space which made it feel not very private. The food was nice - nothing spectacular but tasty enough though. A lovely touch at the end was the surprise “happy birthday” plate of ice cream and fruit, with our lovely waiter singing! A pleasant end to the meal.
Service was terrible - had to ask for things 3/4 times, waitress was rude and argued with us. Food was nice.
Had a lovely evening - great ambience and food and service was friendly and attentive without being overpowering. It was my birthday and they even gave me a Happy Birthday dessert for free.
Came here for my birthday meal with my partner. The ambiance in the restaurant is fantastic as is the general vibe. I had asked for a quiet table as I wanted a more private dinner and that is the only real negative about this restaurant. The tables are far too cramped and we were squeezed next to other people so this place has less of the intimate feel. On top of this the restaurant was busy as it was a Saturday night and I don't think the air conditioning was working as everyone was boiling hot. Having said all that, the positives far outweigh the negatives with this place. The service is amazing and staff are very helpful/informative. This is the best Thai food I have ever had and their choice of seasonings was perfect. They have a lovely cocktail bar downstairs which we enjoyed a few drinks at after our meal. I would definitely recommend eating here on a special occasion as the place oozes class. If they can sort the spacing between tables this place would be perfect.
I was very disappointed with Crazy Bear this time. The standard of food has fallen
Enjoyed our meal. Had a wide selection of starters - duck spring rolls outstanding - and mains. Service was good and food was all excellent. Only quibble was that for a premium restaurant the tables were tight and we really felt little crammed in. Otherwise great experience and would certainly return, albeit try and find a less cramped table next time!
Having previously visited I was looking forward to dining here with a friend. The restaurant I feel was looking a little tired and in need of some attention.
The service was unsatisfactory despite the time only being 5.30pm. It took more than 30 minutes for someone to take a drinks order, despite staff being plentiful. The drinks then sat in the bar for a further 10 minutes. There was discrepancy about the express menu which was apparently available until 6pm as stated on the website but upon requesting to look at this menu we were told twice that it wasn’t available even though our booking was at 5.30. We eventually managed to order from the express menu as we were wanting a quick meal. The food was delicious, a real shame about the service.
Lovely food and wicked cocktails. The bar downstairs is so cool, the decor is amazing
Table was annoyingly in corner with poor light. BUT food was Superb
