$$$$Price: Very Expensive • Steakhouse • Richmond
Our server was young and a little inexperienced, but was willing to try and that went a long way. My review will come across as picky, but for the price the experience should have been phenomenal. The food was very good, I would have said exceptional but the steak was really over salted. Cooked to perfection, but it could have done with less salt.
For the number of people standing around, my water glass should never have been empty. My husband had to ask for it to be refilled.
My husband ordered the bisque with his meal - it came out before the meal. That was a slight annoyance, but bringing it out without a spoon? I had to raise my voice to get a wandering server’s attention and then he did know where to find a spoon or how to place it on the table when he did find one.
I believe it was a manager who delivered our meal and did offer another bowl of bisque, which we declined. It was nice to be offered and that someone caught that our meal order preference was ignored.
I do understand that it is difficult for men to have their pants properly fitted. I would suggest that the management allow suspenders to be worn. That it was noticeable that a particular server pulled up his pants every time he walked by and tucked his shirt into his pants does not lend itself to a “fine dining experience.”
I am very glad we made an earlier reservation. The noise level rose exponentially and I ended up with a headache.
