There are a lot of sushi restaurants in LA and Koi is simply the best. Period. They do the common dishes like spicy tuna on crispy rice or miso marinated black cod better than anybody, and they have items like mini lobster tacos that are unique to Koi and divine. The service is always great. The room and the vibe terrific. And by the way, their desserts are fantastic. Ricky, the general manager, has been running the place for years and he is a welcoming and always checking to make sure everything is great. Which it always is.

I was honestly blown away the first time I came to Gavin. The food was on a completely different level from anything I’d tried before. Everything was so fresh, beautifully prepared, and thoughtfully presented. Even the way everything was set up was impressive. I’ve been a regular ever since. I live about an hour away, but I’ve actually driven here twice in the same week because I just couldn’t stay away. This is easily one of the best restaurants in California. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. I honestly wish I could come here every day. It’s definitely a little pricey, but it’s worth every penny. If you’re looking for an amazing Korean restaurant, this place is absolutely worth the drive. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised to see this place earn a Michelin star someday. It’s that good. Definitely a must-try!

It was definitely a memorable dinner with my family at Kato last Thursday. Master chef Jon Yao is down to earth, pleasant , and professional. All of the dishes were well prepared to Michelin standard if not more. The quail was done perfectly, tender , juicy, full of flavor. The two different kinds of fish were cooked at its best for the taste as well as the texture. The desserts were delicate, each with its unique flavor. My favorite food out of the very nice dinner was Xigua(watermelon) . If you have not been to Kato and you are fond of a specially wonderful dinner, do not miss out this lovely place. The whole team lead by chef Jon Yao was very friendly yet professional. We had a great time there and I encourage you to try!

We had an wonderful experience at Kato last night. We did the bar tasting menu which is an abbreviated version of the full tasting menu at the table. We added the lobster course as well. The service was exceptional and exactly the vibe we were seeking. Even though it was only the bar tasting menu we found it to be the perfect amount of food and left feeling extremely satisfied without feeling overfull. The drinks were beautifully crafted and served in vintage barware. They had an outstanding wine list that went on for days. We only had one glass of white with our dinner and it paired perfectly with a as ll our courses. I had the milk punch at the dessert course and it was absolutely delicious. Our favorite course was the sablefish with abalone. I can still taste it now! The fish was perfectly cooked and so flavorful. I’d absolutely recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a nice evening out.
