Please note we cannot guarantee specific tables when booking on line or at busy times. The Cavendish Arms is a 450 year old Coaching inn set in the heart of Cartmel. With Simon Rogan and his famous Lenclume restaurant we have some very high standards to maintain. Our food is fresh and sourced locally to ensure the freshest ingredients are on your plate at all times. Our menu changes often and is always being developed by our very talented Head Chef and his team. Along with a great food offering, we are challenging boundaries with our selection of 25 gins, 10 whiskeys and many more superior sprits, we always try to have an alternative rather than using main stream brands behind the bar, ensuring our guests receive the best possible value for money we can provide whilst experiencing a better than expected product. In short our aim is to make sure you leave having had a memorable time and be wearing a huge smile.

The RestaurantOur main restaurant is modern with a lantern light ceiling which allows in plenty of natural light to flood in. A great piece of real architectural design. The restaurant boast some wonderful bespoke ironwork along with a vintage industrial feel . This restaurant offers a modern ambiance an ideal place to catch up with family and friends and enjoy our mouthwatering local dishes. The InnThe Inn is full of old world charm with little hidden nucks for dining. This restaurant is full of character and is used at lunch times primarily, but in the evenings, it offers a cosy ambiance lit by candle light ideal for a more casual approach to dining. The Inn also offers an afternoon tea which is simply divine. Served between 2pm-5pm by prior bookings only. The Bar and Snug is a relaxed and super cosy space sticking with the old charm of the Inn which this part of the building offers. It has an impressive wood burning stove and is dog friendly.

Using only freshly sourced Lancashire ingredients, including fresh seasonal vegetables, juicy steaks, fresh fish along with deliciously prepared vegetarian options, we have a menu to suit all tastes. Being right on the North Lancashire and South Cumbria border, the Longlands Inn is surrounded by farmers offering some great local specialties. Fell-bred and salt-marsh lamb, fabulous cheeses, freshly-caught fish, are then all expertly prepared and cooked by our brilliant resident chef Mark Swanton. The hotel has recently gone through a complete refurbishment of the downstairs areas and we have created cosy drinking areas, a mixtures of high and low seating and a private dining area. The open pass from the kitchen allows guests to see our kitchen in operation and all this leads to creating a lively buzz and great atmosphere.

The sausages and bacon were very tough. It said cooked to order but it was like it had been stood for a while under a hot plate. We have been a few times before and it was buffet style and always enjoyed it so hopefully this was just a one off but if it says cooked to order we would expect it to be cooked to order 😔

Fantastic Sunday lunch, I’m gluten and dairy free and they made sure my food was safe, and went to the effort of asking the chef what he could make for me

Apparently it had been busy during the day but was quiet when we arrived at 645 pm for a booked table for 4 . We were not expected but were found a table quickly unfortunately everything we attest order had run out my daughter got her 4th choice there was delay in eating but we had been informed when the food eventually came it was good and well cooked . I feel this is now a day time venue not an evening one and since it was a special meal for my daughters birthday felt disappointed so will not be going again

We were given a private room in which to dine. Our daughter has autism and a fear of laughing and noise. The room was beautiful and the food and service superb.
