Best French Restaurants in Sawtry

My guest and I had lunch at The Orange Tree on 06/06/26. I was impressed immediately. The decor was tsteful and understated. This being a weekday lunch, the restaurant was not busy and we were quickly shown to our table. We forewent starters. My guest chose Lemon Chicken followed by a raspberry cheesecake and I the sea bass special with roasted veg and jersey royals. My dish was advertised as coming with a white wine sauce. When I explained to our server that I could not eat food containing alcohol, she immediately offered a garlic butter meunière sauce instead - a perfect choice. Our main courses arrived after a perfectly acceptable 20 minutes or so. Mine was sublime. Perfectly cooked sea bass and roasted veg with the substitute meunière sauce and the portion was huge!!My guest's lemon chicken looked and smelled delicious too and she reported it to be so. Our puddings were lovely but we were too full to finish them. Our server offered a container to take them home. My lemon tart with clotted cream and raspberries was excellent and had a texture somewhere between a tart and a creme caramel/brûlée - really lovely. The chef is clearly excellent and the serving staff are delightful. This is an experience I intend to repeat. I highly recommend the Orange Tree.

Great restaurant for lunch. Relaxed atmosphere, great food and service

The restaurant is immaculate as are the staff, a very pleasant warm welcome which was followed by a brief explanation of the menus available. We had ample time to read the menus and make our choice of drinks and food.. the waiters are trained to remember your order without adding it to a device or pad and pen ! Our order was perfect, food was delicious and cooked fresh.. Can highly recommend the saucy eggs and steak frites. Will definitely be back.
