Best Indian Restaurants in Binnenstad/Burgwallen

We had a really enjoyable dinner at Akbar and would happily come back. We started with the samosas, butterfly prawns and lamb chops, all of which were full of flavour and nicely prepared. For mains, we had the butter chicken, lamb vindaloo and a few sides. The garlic cheese naan was especially good. The butter chicken was one of the best I’ve had, and the vindaloo was seriously hot — definitely for people who really enjoy spice — but still packed with flavour. The homemade pistachio rabri kulfi was a highlight. It was so good I ended up having two! You could really taste the cardamom and saffron. Service was friendly and attentive, and we really liked the traditional Indian atmosphere. It feels authentic and has much more character than some of the more modern Indian restaurants. There was a large group that was quite loud when we first arrived, so it was a little noisy at the start, but apart from that we had a great evening. We’ll definitely return next time we’re in Amsterdam.

The best Indian restaurant I’ve been to , outside of London or Mumbai. The Lamb Biriani was divine! The Service was wonderful.

Terrific food and great service in central location. Our waiter was very nice and we ordered too much food. Everything was delicious
