Regionally inclined Punjabi cuisine is the main draw at this incongruously located Indian (one of eight branches worldwide), pitched beneath a vast block of flats. Having undergone a major refurbishment, the restaurant has emerged with a polished bar area decked out in dark walnut, while the dining room has been brightened up with cream walls, rich gold fabrics and statement glass chandeliers giving off a warm glow. Dishes on the revamped menu are absolutely faultless – witness crisp shreds of okra fried in the lightest of batters, perfect mouthfuls of tandoor-grilled chicken tikka, and juicy jumbo prawns expertly roasted in a clay oven. Regional specialities, such as nalli gosht (slow-cooked lamb shank and saffron curry, from the city of Lucknow) also delight, although prices are firmly attuned to the luxurious postcode.

We had the pre theatre menu. We got there at 6:18 and they said the pre theatre menu last orders was 6.15 but we didn’t know but they kindly accommodated us and gave us super speedy service so we could get to our show at 7. We had the vegetarian option - all the curries were super as was the rasmalai The malai kofta here is absolutely stand out and a must order. The ragda Pattice chaat was good but the crispy bit under the chaat was a little too thick and over baked. All in all a great meal lovely ambiance and close to all theatres

This was just what I was looking for in London to find Indian food. The staff was very attentive, and we let the server select our lunch for us. It was perfect. It was a beautiful day so we sat outside and it was a fabulous experience.

The food and service at Jikoni was flawless. We had the crab stuffed in a courgette flower. It was a tad on the pricey side but spilt down the middle and shared gave us both the opportunity to taste such deliciousness. We had other dishes which were equally delightful. Pomegranate Negoni was just a slightly less bitter version on the original. It was moorish and slipped down too easily!

The second time I've eaten here in the last six months or so. Both times have been early evening before a gig in the vicinity. I think it will be my go-to restaurant whenever I'm in Camden for a show. The food is excellent, really tasty and the menu is fairly unique in the dishes that it offers. I felt that the waiting staff could have been slightly more attentive but really that is a minor gripe. Overall, a great experience.

Reasonably priced good quality Indian food - the dal makhani was outstanding ( if a little undersalted for my taste) - others had chicken dishes which also seemed to go down well. Not a destination restaurant but an excellent choice if you live within striking distance of belsize village.
