Best Modern European Restaurants in St. Albans

I took my father in law here after hearing good things about Lussmans. We were blown away, the Dover sole was superb, fresh and flavourful. The restaurant itself has a great ambience and lovely decor. Mostly, our waitress (Carienne maybe?) was so friendly and personable that she made the experience unforgettable. One of the best waitress experiences we have had.

My previous visit to St John was a bit of a disappointment ( we ate in the bar and the service was very poor) , so I was a bit skeptical about how things would be in the dining room… I’m pleased to say that everything from start to find was fabulous. Our waiter was knowledgeable, attentive and friendly and the food, delicious . We both chose the pollock with puttanesca sauce, crispy potatoes and a green salad followed by sticky toffee pudding and accompanied by a bottle of Chardonnay which was certainly not an average oaky wine! So pleased St J is now back on my radar and I look forward to enjoying dinner there again soon.
