Cutter & Squidge Ratings and Reviews
I booked the Genies Cave afternoon tea for my nephews birthday way back in October and had to rebook it in the new year. Luckily it fell on Chinese New Year celebrations around the Soho area where Cutter & Squidge is located in London so it was a fun filled, if not busy, day for my 5 year old nephew. As soon as we got into the bakery, we were a little early, the smell of the food was mouth watering yet alone appealing to look at while we waited to be seen. We were taken downstairs to the well themed Genies cave which was fantastic for my nephew let alone impressive to we 3 adults. They had the soundtrack playing for Aladdin, orchestral of course, which did play other Disney classics too to break the monotony. Seated in the back booth, a prime spot, my nephew could fidget his heart content and only bother us 3 instead of the whole area. The server was very good with my active 5 year old nephew too, he brought him his own selection of goodies, a coke as he obviously wouldn’t be joining us adults in drinking tea and explained what all the delicious delicacies were on our Towers. For an extra £4 my sister indulged in a glass of prosecco before selecting her tea, joining my mum on the English, while I partoke in white tea with lychee & peach; it smelt fantastic, went down a treat quenching my thirst and soothed my sore throat in the process. We were absolutely stuffed after devouring the tower of goodies between we 3 adults but my nephew didn’t touch his tower, he had a nibble on 1 sandwhich before complaining he was full (Kids!), luckily for us the server was more than happy to box up what remained for us to take home. It was well worth the money it cost just over £100 for 3 adults plus child; the Beauty & the Beast afternoon tea for 2 came to £90! Would happily go back for more afternoon teas at Cutter & Squidge, referred my Disney obsessed friends already and seeing as it finishes the end of March I highly recommend booking it soon.
Bought as Christmas gift for my son and girlfriend as my daughter visited previously who said how good the the afternoon tea was. My sons girlfriend has a nut allergy - but her needs were accommodated and they both thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and is thinking of taking her mum to afternoon tea .
My boyfriend and I had the best time here for the Aladdin themed afternoon tea before seeing the show (As I'm sure a lot of people do!) I have to note how amazing the staff are, everyone was friendly and eager to help As much as possible and the food was divine. Very well done!
I saw an advertisement for Genie's Cave on Cosmopolitans Facebook page and just knew I had to book for my sister's birthday! Her favourite movie as a kid was Aladdin. Of course it is quite pricey for £59.00 for 2 people, however I expected the cost to about this in Soho for a decent high tea!
From the minute we walked into Cutter & Squidge we were welcomed by the staff, who were very pleasant and chatty, and we got to gawk at all the beautiful cakes whilst waiting ten minutes for our table.
We were brought downstairs to the Genie's Cave, the decor was fabulous (although, not a huge fan of the different coloured cones coming from the ceiling, they looked a bit odd.) But you could tell some serious effort had gone into creating a decent ambience. From looking at other reviews on here, I do agree that some of the tables are a bit close together, but I expected this as it is such a small venue anyway!
Our tea's came in quirky lamps. And I can highly recommend the 'Genie's Welcome' with Pashmak, which is indescribably lovely! My sister and I both have stated that this was the highlight of the tea! All of the food was beautiful, I particularly liked the vegetable and cheese tart, and the signature golden treasure biskie.
The service was impeccable. Cutter and Squidge should be proud of their staff for being so attentive, proactive and professional. I loved how they even put a candle with the dreamcake on top of the tea stand for my sister! These little things really help make an experience what it is!
My sister and I had a wonderful time. 10/10
We attended the Genie's cave afternoon tea, the atmosphere was great and the decor very creative.
You are lead downstairs where the lighting changes and the area takes on a cave like appearance. Gold coins and jewels adorn the walls and the background music consists of Disney tunes.
The tables are sparkley and the chairs are gold, all adding to the illusion - even the cutlery and China has gold throughout.
The food is in keeping with the theme. We loved the idea of unlimited fruit teas in authentic genie lamps. All food was freshly prepared and explained to us. The portion sizes were just right. There was an unlimited food option package but felt that price was a tad expensive.
The "Genie's welcome" is a simple yet effective way to get you in the mood.
The balance of savoury and sweet was just right and as you work your way up the 3 tier cake stand the best is saved for last with mini cakes laced with gold leaf and gems.
The detail even extended onto the food, where stamps of genie lamps were imprinted onto the macaroons and magic carpet patterns stencilled onto the shortbread.
At the end of your experience you even get given a free gift to take away with you
Such a wonderful afternoon and I look forward to seeing what theme is next!
This place was good. i liked it but my girlfriend loved it. (so she says). i didn't really eat anything but she loved the cake and other stuff. i had the mint tea which wasn't great but after the 10 packs of sugar was much better. as a man i cant complain about this place. it was everything it said on the tin. so lads pay what you have to pay and do not complain. overall i would go again but defo take the seats in the end looked much more warm. i will give it 9.5/10 only thing that would of made is better is a genie somewhere. Big up the waitress Sarah she was epic doing everything she could with the limited amount of staff available. Thank you very much
Visited for a friends birthday and booked the Genie's Cave Afternoon Tea. It was so lovely, everything was so creatively thought through from the teapots to the food itself, very intimate and cosy relaxed setting and such a surprise to walk down to! The staff were super lovely too and really added to the experience :), can't wait to see what the next afternoon tea theme will be as will definitely book again and again!
We had a fantastic time in the Aladdin’s cave setting for our afternoon tea. The staff were very welcoming and attentive and all the food was delicious and perfectly presented. We are really looking forward to whatever the next theme is for their afternoon teas!
Enjoyed the Genie’s afternoon tea for my fiancé’s Christmas present lovely server and the food was delicious. Great choice of teas too! The cave was really cool and got us in the mood for going to see Aladdin at the Theatre later that evening! That’s for an awesome experience! X
Exceptional experience for afternoon tea the whole occasion was way beyond our expectations which were very high to start with. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and explained the experience and food perfectly. The food itself was exceptional and the tastes were exquisite all complemented each other
Do your self a favour and experience this while you can before the theme changes???
Will be back to try the new experience
I booked the Genies Cave afternoon tea for my partners birthday as a surprise. We definitely were not expecting how good it was. The setting was amazing with the table being an Aladdin’s cave and the room was decorated as such too. The afternoon tea itself was fantastic too with a perfect array of sandwiches, cakes and a choice of tea. The service was very attentive too and available 100% of the time if we had any issues. The whole experience was incredible and one that we will both never forget. We will definitely be recommending the experience and we look forward to seeing what your next themed afternoon tea will be!
The Aladdin themed afternoon tea was the best I’ve ever been to! The venue is done out beautifully and you truly feel as though you’re in Aladdin’s cave! I often find with themed afternoon teas, you pay a high price for the venue and the food isn’t great. However, this is not the case here! The food was delicious and there was plenty of it. The staff are very friendly and informative, and are happy to help with your requests! Beautiful place and such a great idea. Would definitely recommend!!! Thank you.
We went for the genie's cave afternoon tea. Great place, it's a little gem. Friendly service and courteous staff. The food items on the menu were apt for the theme like the aladdin's carpet shaped biscuit and the gold leaf on the biskie. Beautiful experience. Definately recommend.
Wow, what a fabulous experience! Although unassuming from the outside, the themed afternoon tea area was magical! The service, attentiveness and quality was brilliant and the themed afternoon tea was spectacular and the wide range and quality of gluten free options was perfect! We will be coming again
We really enjoyed our Genie's afternoon tea at Cutter and Squidge, we did think the room could have been decorated a tad better (some of the ceiling decorations were on the floor and some a bit bare, but on the whole it was really amazing and we would definitely return. The staff were absolutely fabulous!
I attended genies cave afternoon tea to celebrate a birthday the service was amazing the room was done really well
The food was amazing the only thing we would say is less cake and more sandwiches or savoury as there is alot of sweet items with this afternoon tea
But overall would defiantly recommend
