Proper Vietnamese food served by a very friendly bunch of staff. Having been to Vietnam the food was spot on, and the service was excellent. Some mistakes over food quickly sorted out but then this is a family place not a McD's. Superb Saigon beer (333 for those that have been there)and excellent caring service. Will definately recommend and will come again next time in Hammersmith
4 of us went for a birthday meal celebration. Excellent service with some unusual and varied dishes.Just visit their website to see the menu. Vietnamese pancakes with seafood for example.
The restaurant is in process of changing hands. They really made an effort. We went midweek when it was quiet but that suited us. I can imagine the atmosphere being equally good at weekends when it is full.
I often find Thai, Vietnamese restaurants are overpriced but this felt good quality and good value
Myself and the Mrs went mid Nov 15 and had an enjoyable time. Not particularly busy, so food arrived swiftly etc. Would consider Da Nang again.
Da Nang in my view serves the freshest, most delicious and reasonably priced Vietnamese restaurant in London. The set lunch for £7.95 is outrageously good value and could easily be price at double or even treble that price at other restaurants. The salt and chilli squid starter was beautifully cooked, crispy light batter and fresh squid. My partner had summer rolls which we equally delicious. Main courses kept up the remarkable standards, Chicken Rengan tasted similar to Massaman curry but superior, while stewed pork was really succulent meat served with egg and a superb broth. Add to this some of friendliest staff anywhere and you have one of the most pleasant places to eat in London…really no exaggeration!
we booked for a 5.30 sitting as we were going to the Theater for 8PM so it was quiet. The food was outstanding and there was plenty of it. I loved the soft shell crab starter and the Seabass and Duck were brilliant.
Great food. Vietnamese food is clean fresh tasting and the way forward.
Dined here after having been to the other Vietnamese restaurants nearby (Saigon Saigon, Pho, Ngon). We tried the vietnamese pancake, spring rolls, minced pork vermicelli and clay pot vermicelli. A major complaint was that the pancake and spring rolls were served with lettuce and some salad leaves, which were already brown and starting to go off so that was not pleasant. The seafood in the pancake was very fresh and juicy though the pancake itself was far too oily. The noodles were presented sloppily, although edible we personally would not recommend them. The restaurant could do with an uplift generally, the whole place felt gloomy. I was also slightly uncomfortable as the moment we walked in and were shown to our table, I noticed there was a table nearby where the staff were eating which is not a problem of course but the three lady staff members for some reason were staring us up and down for quite a while - even when I was perusing the menu and having a conversation with the other half I could see them staring out of the corner of my eye! Which was uncomfortable to say the least.
Great food, friendly staff. Nice atmosphere. We enjoyed the crispy Vietnamese rolls and the duck for our main. Def recommend.
Excellent food, brilliant service - patient and kind, attentive but not overly so.
Papaya salad is the best.
We arrived at 8:30pm and had very nice, spicy soup but my green chicken curry lacked the same spice kick I was looking for. All was well until we were the only ones left at 10pm. The staff milled around and then actually asked us leave at 10:30 despite clearing stating that they are open until 11pm. Not good but it's good enough food at good prices and conveniently located for me so I will be back.
Our numbers unexpectedly increased beyond the booked number but Da Nang were quick to accommodate. The billing was also easy as they had already split out the bills by person. Great service!
Went there for dinner, and although we enjoyed the meal overall, the food averagely good. This was disappointing, especially after having read excellent reviews about this restaurant.
The waiters/waitresses were friendly but didn't seem to pay attention to the diners enough.
I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to a friend, purely because I've had better - but if you're in Hammersmith and in dire need of Vietnamese food, then Da Nang will be ok to satisfy that need.
The lady manager/owner was irrespective , very agressive approch & very impolite. I will never ever recommend my family & friend go there. The food was not bad. The service by staff was absolutely late by 25 minutes & the lady manager was arguing with even staff with laud shout infront of all customers who were there.
Restaurant is generic-looking both inside and out, but the food does the talking.
Da Nang is a real find. I live in East London and tend to think all decent Vietnamese restaurants to be in Shoreditch, but Da Nang proves me wrong.
I have supper at Da Nang with two Sicilian cousins who are visiting England and have never eaten Vietnamese. This cuisine, I have learned through experience, is not the easiest to sell to conservative eaters who don't dabble in ethnic gastronomy, so I am a bit wary of my suggestion. I needn't have worried: Da Nang is so clearly and straightforwardly great that everyone at the table loves every single one of the dishes we choose and share.
Highlights amongst the starters are the golden brown dumplings (stuffed with tiger prawns, squid and chicken), a fresh salad of sliced beef, lime leaves and crunchy vegetables, and incredibly crunchy, fragrant salt and chilli squid, accompanied by a light sweet chilli dip.
Mains deliver the same high standards, and I would thoroughly recommend the crispy pancakes with tiger prawns, calamari and pork (my favourite dish of the evening), and the utterly rich and delicious udon noodles with fiery peppercorn and vegetables.
The most refreshing surprise turns out the be dessert, a course often neglected by Vietnamese restaurants in the capital. I have an absolutely wonderful coconut pudding with rice, rich and creamy like the best of decadent puddings.
The ambiance is uncluttered and welcoming, the service prompt - definitely a place to visit, even if you need to make the trip specifically.
All six of us enjoyed our dishes at Da Nang and felt that it was really good value for money. We had some gluten intolerant people with us and finding other options was no problem at all.
Da Nang Kitchen is by far our favourite place to frequent for Asian Cuisine. The quality of food is fantastic and at times the dishes of both theatrical and mouth wateringly tasty. Our last time there we ordered;
Whole Steamed Sea Bream with Ginger
Honey Roasted Duck Breast
Seafood Udon Noodles
Red Thai Curry with Chicken
A feast that fills you but doesn't leave you feeling 'icky'. The food is so clean and well cooked. It isn't loaded with Sodium to mask more cooking like so many other restaurants and the quality of fish / meat is high. We finished off our meal with Coconut and Sesame ice cream and some Vietnamese tea. Can't wait for our next visit!
We had a lunch booked via Open Table website. After our food was served I discovered that my chicken is poorly cooked and I point it out to the waiter. Screaming chef rushed out of the kitchen only to verbally abuse as , not to help with food!
We left this PLACE - NEVER AGAIN!
My friend and I booked before we went to a concert at Hammersmith Eventim. As we were in a rush we asked for starters and mains to be served together. Everything was really good and full of flavour. Our only regret was we had to rush our meal. BUT we will most definitely come back.
The restaurant had only 4 tables of customers on a quiet Tuesday night. We were a bit worried but one table was a large Vietnamese group of family so we felt a bit better. The food was lovely!! The wine was a bit disappointing but that's not the point! It was nice quiet so me and my friends had a good catch up. We were chatting away till 11. Great ambient. I would recommend and visit again.
3 of us booked a table foe Saturday nught,20th December. Despite being a Saturday and Christmas period, the restaurant was not crowded and the music was only in the background. We ended up staying for around 3hours eating and chatting as you could definetely have a converaation due to low noise levels. The food was great, we had a few chicken dishes as well as beef. An unexpected treasure. Definetely worth a visit! Looking forward to coming back in the New Year.
Ok vietnamese in this part of town however not as good as the Kingsland Road outfits. Service is very poor and slow.
This restaurant has again served delicious and pretty authentic Vietnamese food in a stylish atmosphere . The beef rendang was especially good . We had taken 2 visiting friends from France who had never eaten Vietnamese food before ; they were very impressed
Da Nang has some of the best Vietnamese food I've had in a long time. It's my favourite cuisine, so I'm always on the lookout for restaurants in West London, since Kingsland Road is such a trek. Da Nang in Hammersmith hit the spot...delicious and authentic flavours, very friendly and efficient service, and reasonable prices. We loved it and will be back.
Went in fairly early on Sunday before a show at the Apollo. Food was very good and not too pricey. The place was very quiet when we entered and was starting to get busier by the time we left.
Service was good and came quickly, food tasted authentic and was overall good value, the whole meal for 2 came to around £40 including service, although we only had a drink each.
Would go again if I was in the area.
Grand portions!!! brought back memories of Vietnam Market stalls.
....and the starter options was amazing. Just love it.
The food was a bit burnt (rice, bread), and not really tasty.
Given the number of Thai restaurant in the area, better to cjhosse another one.
Had a very nice lunch at Da Nang, starters and main dish. Good fresh ingredients, and tasty food.
We were three friends who dined there one Friday evening in May 2014. There were a lot of vegetarian choices. The food was tasty and the place was not noisy. Would recommend trying it out.
We took my daughter here for a birthday dinner and enjoyed the experience immensely. The food was great - a match for the better-known restaurants on Kingsland Road in Shoreditch - and the service was impeccable. Even the very brief wine list was spot-on. All in all a pho-tastic experience!
Excellent authentic food served by the most patient and delightful staff that never make you feel like you are being rushed. A real 'must go and try!'
Good service, food was very enjoyable and not over priced. Would go again and recommend to others
Great meal would recommend this place if you like Vietnamese food or would like to try it
We visited the restaurant enroute to a concert at the Hammersmith Eventim and we really enjoyed our meal. The food was of an excellent standard and arrived in plenty of time for us to make it to our concert. We particularly enjoyed the soft shell crab starter, the peanut curry main course and the aubergine with fish sauce side dish. The only feedback I would have for the restaurant was that we were not asked if we wanted a drink when we arrived, the staff seem to wait until you are ready to order your meal before taking drinks and food orders at the same time.
The food was very poor, not to be recommended
We came for dinner on rare night out just the two of us. The food was good and value for money. All ok until I went to the toilet. Disgusting from long term lack of cleaning. Left a terrible taste in my mouth and ruined it for me, will never go back. Just thinking about it makes me want to wash my hands again.
It was a pleasant dinner. Loved the sesame ice cream
Hospitable staff, lovely food and reasonably priced wine thoroughly enjoyed after a trip to the cinema. Particularly recommend the duck dishes and aubergine sides. Plenty of choice on the menu with good vegetarian options. Looking forward to our next visit. Would recommend booking.
Its taken me 3 years to find a place in the UK that serves authentic Vietnamese food and this is the best! The restaurant is a lovely place to be,the staff were helpful and friendly, more importantly the food was box office and very well priced. My girlfriend hasn't tried Vietnamese food before and was blown away and it took me right back to Vietnam! We had a few starters, lovely finger food with dips that came out quickly and was fresh tasty and delicious, for main we had a platter of seafood/beef that you cook yourself in a broth along with veg herbs chillies and noodles and it was, without exaggerating the best Asian food we have eaten in the UK. If you love authentic Vietnamese food Da Nang is absolutely not to be missed if in London!!
First time eating at this restaurant and it did not disappoint. Food was amazing and service was excellent. The value for money is very good too. I will be returning to this again.
