It was fine, but given the positive reviews I was expecting more. I would happily go there again but with adjusted expectations.
What an absolutely perfect brunch! The staff were so understanding and accommodating when I called to tell them we were going to be 15 minutes late and would need a couple of extra seats. The food and drinks were delicious and our waitress was very attentive. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for brunch in Manhattan.
Can't stop, won't stop eating at David's! Tasty food and great hospitality from Ernesto and Damien. Thank you!
Nice bustling cafe, great for casual dinners. Very generous portions. The burger was really juicy; and the mushroom risotto and the pork chop are hearty meals if you're hungry. The fish and chips is another good menu pick. Attentive service.
They put our party of 3 at a table barely big enough for 2. The food did not fit on table and we were on top of each other . We did have reservations ... then they brought out food and gave us wrong omelettes. Just an OK place with no ambiance and too crowded . Food was fine
I had a lovely brunch with my friend. Service was quick, food was delicious. The crab eggs Benedict were dynamite. Highly recommend.
This was honestly such a miss. I’ve heard such good things about thing place but the terrible service we had, coupled by how rude the bartender was ruined our meal and evening. The food is pretty good but there are too many places within a 4 block radius you can dine at, with same food quality and exceptional service. I won’t be going back.
A very casual neighborhood place with good food. Not an extensive menu but something for everyone. American with French accents.
David's has become a neighborhood classic. Always has great food especially the Burger & Croque Madame and a very nice atmosphere. Love that you can make a brunch reservation!
Great food and service!
The new Salmon dish was to die for, cooked to perfection, savory and flavorful!
Made a reservation for 3 for 11am. We arrived on time, all of us had an entree and at least 2 drinks. We had not even finished our coffee, when the waiter asked us to leave at 11.55 because their reservation is waiting outside.
David’s cafe has a terrific ambiance, wonderful food, great prices, and not overly crowded can’t recommend enough.
Great ambiance, people watching, food and service! Loved every minute of the experience. A perfect place for a relaxing summer brunch - light, sunny, fun and with great drinks on tap. The burger was outstanding, as was everything else our table ordered. The manager was sweet and beyond accommodating, even during a very busy hour. We live in the neighborhood and will definitely be back!
Delicious food. Not over priced. Favorite place for special dinner, or to take friends from out of town.
This place is so cute and quaint! Has an indoor outdoor feel. The menu isn't that large, but the food is very good. They were also very accommodating when we had to move back our reservation by 1-hour. Highly recommend!
Great location, good food & great value for lunch special!
This place is one of my son's favorite brunch place (He lives nearby). I understand why. Food is good, prices are reasonable, service is satisfactory, although one can see that they look exhausted from being really busy. Maybe one or more servers needed on peak hours?
we waited a half hour for our table despite an Open Table reservation food was ok, but nothing special especially considering the prices
They said they didn’t have our reservation, which was strange since the app confirmed it. Food was good, service was decent.
I went here with friends. It's a hidden gem in the East Village.
Punches way above its weight! Everyone else was French when we were there for an early dinner and it was easy to see why.Food and service terrific. We could have been in any town in France although the choice of spices would make it likely in the Langedoc.
Service was incredibly slow. Brought out our sides as appetizers instead of as sides. Failed to take into account an allergy which left person without their food for about 30 minutes after the rest of the group.
Brunch is so good! There are so many options and it’s all delicious
The hostess/waitress with the injured hand was BEYOND annoying and rude. I can’t even explain the amount of eye rolls and looks she gave us because she was doing her job. If she’s reading this, maybe try a different occupation.
Great food and service. Price was reasonable. Restaurant was busy but noise level still allowed for conversation without shouting. Will return.
Truly a delicious burger. Love the double stack !! Thanks :)
Delicious food! Great atmosphere! We were seated right away with our reservation!
Good food, but not worth the pretentious service. They won’t substitute cheese type on their sausage egg and cheese.
Food mediocre but nice atmosphere and friendly staff.
This place was very cute but VERY crowded. I made a reservation for 1:30 and we weren't seated until 2:00. Why even offer reservations if you're not going to hold tables for people that actually took the time to make them?! On top of that, the table for the 4 of us should probably only seat 2 in practice. It was cramped and uncomfortable.
Perfect little cafe for a lunch catch up with a friend. Delicious poached eggs and crispy bacon!
The burger was as good and as juicy as the hype. Adorable, buzzy cafe with servers bringing out plate after plate of delicious looking dishes. Can’t wait to try more.
We arrived on time for our reservation but were told there was a wait because previous reservations had arrived late and pushed everything back. Not sure why the late-arriving diners were seated tbh because there was a huge crowd waiting at the door. We were seated after 30 min wait and service was functional but not pleasant or welcoming. Drinks were literally dropped to the table (and splashed a little). Maybe our server was a bit surly or they were understaffed but it definitely felt like a no-frills diner experience. Food was good, not outstanding. Seems like a decent place for grub but not worth the wait or poor service in my opinion.
Wonderful as always! If you’re looking for a nice but still casual brunch, perfect spot.
The food at David’s is excellent! Love the space and the atmosphere. The only thing that could be improved was the check in experience - we had to wait 10 minutes to get to the front to get our reservation/table. The staff could’ve been more attentive in this aspect.
We picked David’s Cafe to celebrate my birthday with a lovely brunch! The atmosphere and low-key vibe of the restaurant is what stood out to me along with the delicious menu options. It was a cozy environment for a party of 8. The food was spectacular! I ordered their well known burger and will definitely be heading back for more. All in all wonderful brunching experience.
I made a mistake and was 30 minutes late for our brunch reservation, but no one made a big deal about it and we were seated right away. The food was excellent - my omelet was way more flavorful than most and the home fries were the best I’ve had in a while. We got charged for two bloody marys that we never ordered, but the error was fixed with no trouble. We’ll definitely go back!
Terrific food and service. Great specials. Can't say enough about the food.
We snuck into David’s for a quick bite before going to The Public Theater. The pork was moist and tasty and just this side of too pink. Served over mashed potatoes with a taste of wine gravy.
We would come back without hesitation.
