Comfortable atmosphere with great service. The food was prepared exactly how it was requested. We plan to return in the future.
Our experience was great from the moment we walked in . We were greeted quickly and sat immediately with our reservation. Our server was very attentive and assured we always had what we needed, and the steaks were cooked perfectly. I would recommend this for others looking for a little higher end dinner. Bonus it is a mile from home.
We waited an hour and a half from ordering for a mediocre steak and a cold baked potato. The mac and cheese was good, and my husband loved the crab cake he added on. Overall it wasn’t worth the money. Had such high hopes and maybe it was an off night.
We have eaten here before and had had a great experience. My husband called it his new favorite place. As his birthday is near Valentines Day, I booked well in advance and was excited to take him back. As Valentine’s Day was a Friday, that was the night we went. We were expecting a crowd, as the last time it had been very crowded, but it wasn’t too bad. I must say though we left very disappointed. This was the first time the food was not up to expectations. My husband is a steak guy, loves to grill, and likes his steak medium rare. His steak was rare. Now we are not the type of people who say medium rare and then complain when the meat is pink. But this was very rare and had to be returned. The oysters Rockefeller had been fantastic last time and were barely edible.
Perfect Valentine’s Day date
Outstanding food served with a high degree of personal service. A perfect choice for special occasions and impressing guests. It's always tempting to go with a perfectly cooked steak, but don't ignore the daily specials! They are always wonderful.
For a Valentine’s day dinner, the seating was way to close to two other couples, when there was plenty of other free tables. It made for awkward conversation with my wife and the other couples felt the same. We were crammed into the glass patio, which was about 15 degrees colder than the restaurant, so the overall comfort was not great. I don’t believe we will go back.
Service was outstanding, apps were very good, steaks were disappointing. 16oz ribeye was ordered medium and came without any red in center, overcooked. KC bone-in strip was ordered rare, Oscar Style. Steak was good but there was a “fish” taste to the crab meat. We did order the jumbo lump crab appetizer and that was excellent. The apps and sides were 5-star, the 3-star on the food was based on main course. Had they been $20 steaks, no issues, but when you are at a “high end” steak house ($310 not including tip for party of 2) you expect to walk out feeling good about the money spent. The 1-star on value was based on the food experience not the amount of the bill.
Nice experience but over priced. ...................."...........................
Excellent overall experience as usual. Steak was perfect.
Everything was good...not great. For the price, I expected much more flavor and satisfaction than we got. I believe this restaurant is highly overrated and overpriced.
Great staff, device is amazing! Food is delicious!
Great food great service nothing like it in the area.
Great food and service. Ambience is nice. Very high price.
The food is always great. Our server Heath was knowledgeable and professional. Glen is the face of the place, best personality and he is a wonderful asset to the establishment.
Amazing food. The best steak I've tried in my 25 years on this planet
Another great meal at DC Prime, this one in celebration of our granddaughter's 12th birthday. Filet mignon and lamb chops cannot be beat. John our waiter was terrific and he did a great job making the birthday girl feel special.
Place was beyond amazing, everything we ordered except for the Mac & cheese was great!
Amazing experience! We felt like the red carpet was rolled out for us! The food was great, the wait staff was great and the atmosphere was great! We cannot wait to go back!!
I was expecting a much better experience. When we arrived we were seated quickly. There were two of us celebrating a birthday and we were sat at a large semicircle table, awkward for a party of two. It took at least ten minutes for anyone to come to our table once we were seated. After the initial wait the service did improve; however, it almost became rushed. We ordered the Lobster Bites, the taste was very bland. I ordered the filet trio and they let me sub the chimichurri for bernaise which I appreciated. My niece ordered the 8 ounce filet. She said hers was fabulous. My filets were lacking flavor. The best sauce was the Cabernet goat cheese. For sides we ordered the au gratin potatoes and creamed corn. The creamed corn was fabulous. The potatoes were bland. We ordered dessert which honestly was the best part of the meal. My niece had cheesecake and I had the creme brûlée. I had a lot higher expectation going here and overall it was a bit of a let down. I would try it again as I’m hoping it was just an off night.
Everything was outstanding except for the noise level. Our sear was close to a bar area and it was too noisy; hard to hold a conversation.
We enjoyed another exceptional dining experience at DC Prime. They are very good at honoring requests (waiter and bordelaise sauce). We look forward to our next visit!
My parents had a wonderful 80th birthday dinner at DC Prime. Glenn was a great host who made the evening special. They enjoyed crab cakes, calamari, braised short ribs, and sea scallops. Everything was cooked to perfection. They had so much food which they enjoyed the next night at home. A special chocolate cake was brought out to celebrate her big birthday. Thank you Glenn and DC Prime!
Good, but steaks were not great...expected more for the price and to match the sales pitch (which was excellent)
Had a great time for my birthday dinner.
Outstanding service and food. Very friendly atmosphere. The manager was on top of his game. No long waits.
Long wait between salad and entree bec of large parties. Pack your patience.
My wife ordered the 3oz. filet thinking it would be special. It was terrible. 95dollsrs no way. Unless I get a free meal for her we will not go back. My meal was good and it was 51 dollars . Hope to hear from you to try again. FORREST
Had a group of eleven Everyone seemed to enjoy the evening the food was very good the waiter was very good missed a few things occasionally but we were a large group
You feel like splurging, the Tomahawk Steak is good for 2. Awesome place with great sides but plan to leave super full and food for the next couple days.....
I cannot say enough wonderful things about DC Prime. I’ve been to some of the best chophouses in the country and I would put this one to compete with the best of them with more affordable prices and steaks cooked to perfection. It’s certainly the best in DC.
It started with a Happy Birthday card already on our table away from everyone else and the best waiter, Stew. He brought us a basket of in house baked bread of which the cranberry orange was to die for. I had to try hard not to fill up on that alone. He helped guide us to the lobster bites and pork belly both of which I will probably go back and order just that sometimes. The lobster was so tender and juicy. I was expecting more like a fritter, but it was whole lobster chunks tempura fried with this delicious sauce lightly coating. OMG! The pork belly was so flakey it fell apart and our only regret was getting one instead of two.
For dinner my husband had king crab legs in the garlic sherry sauce. These were a steal at $52 /lb compared to the $75 we normally pay at other places. I had a 22oz bone in ribeye that was perfectly charred, pepper crusted, buttery cut with a fork goodness even at medium well. I’ve never had a steak so good and juicy that it didn’t need any sauce, but the bernaise was excellent. Don’t forget the side dishes either! They creamed corn with bacon and poblanos was incredible. We also had lobster Mac n cheese that the kind chef surprised my husband with on his birthday. I will never not order that again, because it’s divine!
We finished with a chocolate pecan pie that was so delicious complete with a happy birthday message and a candle. Their pastry chef is quite good.
I cannot recommend this place enough. Go for birthdays, Anniversaries, because it’s Tuesday or any reason at all. It’s the kind of place you find a reason to go. Ask for Stew and get the lobster bites!
We dined on 1/4/20 with another couple at the Sterling location. Everything was very well executed from the hostess to our waiter Stu, who was gracious, efficient and friendly. Only reason for less than 5 stars is the wine list was not accurate. 2 wines ordered were out of stock. Stu honored the price on a higher cost bottle with the price of the original choice. All of our diner selections were delicious, appropriately sized for the price point and nicely plated. We had a bit of take away for enjoying later in the weekend. Can recommend for business, friend's meet-up, first date or family night out.
Expensive as most NoVa restaurants go but the best steak in the area. Very unique flavor. We eat at DC Prime pretty regularly. This was the best night for my wife and I. The steak had a wonderful charred crust - I can’t describe it but the flavor with the beef was outstanding. They could work on their salads and non-steak items - we’d go more often (can’t eat steak every night).
DC Prime is our "special occasion" choice of a great restaurant. From the time you walk in, to the time you leave, it's a very enjoyable experience. It's a bit pricey, but, for what you receive, not overpriced. Looking forward to next time.
New Year’s eve.
Not worth it. The food was ok, the service was amateurish. I expected more for the price and hype.
Came here for our 9th anniversary dinner on NYE. I had booked reservations weeks in advanced with a note that it was our anniversary. From start to finish we were rushed. The first impression walking into the door, the hostesses appearance and demeanor did not make me feel I had just walked into a nice steak house. Once we were seated directly in front of the kitchen door where we got to see several servers come in and out constantly.. very distracting for an anniversary dinner. Our server wasn't friendly, never smiled once.. it was awkward. Didnt tell about us about any specials. Had to look for him several times. All of these little details distracted us from the food.. which was good but not amazing. Got ribeye (very salty), ny strip (good), fingerling potatoes(no seasoning), margaritas(meh), creme brulee(very meh!). Such a disappointing anniversary dinner and for our first experience here.
In one word, Phenomenal. Will definitely be back soon
Food was mediocre, soup cold, steak over done and service just ok. Presentation of food could have been better. Way over priced for just an average dinner.
