Del Ray Cafe
Little disappointed that I mentioned in notes we were celebrating a birthday and no one asked us about it again, however, this restaurant is fabulous so we will definitely be back!
Delicious experience. We have been here numerous times for brunch and dinner did not disappoint. Our waiter was wonderful and interesting! Had a great time taking our in laws here. Very relaxed atmosphere
The duck and scallops are amazing. The foie gras was cooked which I wasn’t a huge fan of but the berries that came with it were yum!
Great service, and amazing food. Loved everything about the place. We have found a new favorite dining place.
I love this restaurant. Wait staff is always friendly and recognizes you when you come in. I am a single and was ushered to a great window table. It has been Spring since I was at the restaurant but the waiter remembered me from previous visits. For me, it is oysters on the half and they were great after after a summer off. The dover sole was as I remembered it - always wonderful. And the Soufflé was perfect. This restaurant receives my highest recommendation!
Only issue was how long it took to get seated. We had a reservation for Brunch and our party was seated 30 minutes late. We are frequent diners and really enjoy this restaurant, but wanted to raise this concern.
Food was very good. Service was amazing! One of our guests had to leave very quickly and they served him quickly and efficiently despite the fact they were very busy during brunch. I've had dinner there before and the service experience was also great. And the food was yummy.
Sinfully good food -- every bite was exceptionally good including the dressing on the mixed greens that came with our meal! Staff was friendly, happy and attentive. Prices were excellent and a great value. Go. Here. To. Eat!
This is a fabulous neighborhood gem with a solid wine list, very creative cuisine selections and the service is attentive without being overbearing. Looking forward to the next visit!
Braised short ribs were tasty, Branzino had a fishy flavor but it was mild, so it was really good.
Great food, good service and a helpful waiter. The very light breading on the calamari was exceptional! So often it is so heavy that it hides the flavor of the calamari. Del Ray's breading was just right - enough to add some interest to the dish without overpowering it!
Also recommend the PEI mussels!
there was a loud patron when we arrived who was a bit annoying, but happily that table soon cleared and we then enjoyed a nice atmosphere. Was impressed that the owner/manager stopped to chat. Nice touch.
I enjoyed a delicious beet salad with sliced chicken and pecans. Always a warm welcome and great service!!
DRC continues to be my favorite restaurant. The food is always excellent and the staff are so pleasant. We were there for an anniversary and they brought us a lovely special dessert.
A very charming venue in a classic neighborhood with outstanding cuisine and friendly, attentive service. Couldn’t have asked for more!
First class in all regards, as always.
Always a treat! Good service and delicious food make for a great meal!
We can never find time for ourselves, but Saturday was extremely pleasant. We’ve already planned our next visit. The cuisine and atmosphere is agreeable with my preferences, as well as the location. Everyone should be lucky enough to dine at this restaurant. Merci beaucoup.
Great food in a welcoming environment!
The service and food was superb as usual. Wonderful presentation, excellent, well prepared food, and top notch service. Del Ray Cafe is a favorite!
Always outstanding. I have never had a bad meal at Del Ray Cafe. It is a friendly, comfortable place to eat with excellent food.
If you’re looking for a restaurant with great food, excellent service, friendly atmosphere then run don’t walk to DRC! Can’t say enough good about it. The food is spot on every time and the servers are friendly and efficient!
Four friends went for lunch today. Two of us had beet salad, which was fine. The other 2 had hamburgers, 1 rare and 1 well done with different side dishes and those orders were mixed up. The waiter checked on the order before they had a chance to taste the food. We told the waiter that the orders were wrong. He left and came back to ask if they wanted new hamburgers. One ordered a new burger and the other ate the well done burger even though she likes them rare. The waiter came back with 6 small popovers and whipped cream and fruit sauces as “compensation.” This was not sufficient compensation for mixing up the orders. They should have comped those two meals or provided other sufficient compensation. We have been at the restaurant before, but won’t be back.
The food was excellent and the service from our actual waiter was wonderful. But, we had a serious issue with the hostess. We made a reservation days in advance, which ended up being completely pointless. One member arrived before our reservation time and checked in. Of course, the hostess said to check back in when all members of the party had arrived. At exactly the time of our reservation, we checked in with three of the four members of our party. At that time, we clearly stated that the fourth person had just texted to say they could not make it. We specifically added it would now only be a party of three. The hostess said our table was not yet ready. We checked in again about 10 minutes later; she said our table was still not ready. 20 minutes after our reservation time, she apologized, and said our table would be ready soon. At this point, we were still not blaming her; the restaurant was clearly busy. However, 27 minutes after our reservation time, she asked us to please let her know when the fourth member of our party arrived, because she would not be able to seat us until then. What?! We already said that person was not coming. So, were we waiting 27 minutes beyond our reservation time for no reason? Or, was the hostess covering up for the 27 minute delay by pretending that we never told her about the fourth person cancelling?
Remember the chefs here when they owned A French restaurant in old town. Food is still outstanding, but the fare is much simpler
Fabulous first rate meal as always.
Food and service impeccable
The best restaurant in Del Ray, and among the best in Alexandria. Never disappoints.
The service was great and the food was fantastic. We have lunch on the porch and that was a wonderful location.
Excellent food and service
I love to take my granddaughters to Del Ray Cafe for lunch or brunch because the food, location, ambience, service and mission of the cafe are all great. I especially appreciate being able to stay and visit beyond the official lunch hour. thanks!
We have breakfast here every couple of months and it's always great. Crab Eggs Benedict is a particular favorite.
RW dinner was a good value. Our waiter was very good and steered us to a red blend which turned out great.
As always, the Del Ray Cafe is excellent in all respects. The chef, owner and servers are consistently worst rate.
Another excellent meal at Del Ray Cafe!! Food and service are always reliably great. Highly recommend.
Charming and friendly staff, seated promptly, variety of good choices for Restaurant Week. Excellent meal, good recommendation for wine....we'll BBC e back!
Always a great experience, very good wine selections and terrific cuisine. Higher end French dishes in a bistro environment. Highly recommended!
Over really good. Great locals place with a few tables of returning customers. I would go again if invited but does not make my list of "I can't wait to go back" places like Vermillion does.
Excellent food and attentive service even during the crush of restaurant week in Alexandria. We highly recommend Del Ray Cafe!!!!!
The Del Ray Cafe never disappoints. Excellent food, great staff, and a wonderful setting.
During restaurant week you expect service to get backed up, but the food was cold. Everything you asked for was a few dollars extra (including 2 slices of baguette) and when we complained they asked to email the manager. It’s disappointing to see this neighborhood restaurant start nickel and diming customers and sacrificing service.
