Diners' Choice Winners: Best Overall
Derbyshire's best restaurants based upon thousands of OpenTable diner reviews
This is our 4th year in a row we've visited Stones for Valentines day and as always we were blown away by the food and the service. We will be back in 2020 100% guaranteed, it's still my favourite restaurant I've visited. You are made to feel so welcome and so relaxed, you'll want for nothing as the service is so personal but professional. There was only thing that let our last visit down and that was a group table of around 10 people that must've thought they were in a noisy pub or fast food restaurant, they were extremely raucous and loud, completely unnecessarily loud bellows of laughter that sounded fake and raised voices as though they needed to talk over something although everyone else in the restaurant were talking quietly. This is obviously not the restaurants fault but maybe they could've stepped in, made them aware that they're over zealous ways we're not in keeping with the restaurant, could be intrusive to their other customers conversations and spoiling their evening. "Located in the heart of Derby, Derby Pyclet Parlour serves a wide range of delicious dishes based on Derby's Tastiest Tradition. You can watch us baking pyclets and oatcakes in our open kitchen and creating your dishes freshly from locally sourced foods. Serving Breakfasts, Lunch and Afternoon Teas we have a quintessentially Derby seating area including bar seating where you can have a chat with our lovely staff and a number of more intimate tables, surrounded by pieces of work from Derbyshire Artists. We have gluten and dairy free pyclets and oatcakes available to dine in and take home and as all of our foods are prepared freshly infront of you we can cater safely for most dietary requirements. While our gluten and dairy free foods are prepared in the same kitchen all of our staff are trained to bake, prepare and serve separately to high standards. For more information see our website."More

As you walk into the Peacock you get the feeling of history, built in 1652, the hotel was originally used as a dower house for Haddon Hall. The link between the two survives today as Lord Edward Manners brought the hotel back into his estate in 2004, the hotel has many pieces of unique furniture and art work from the Estate. The Bar is another step back into the past with a copper topped bar and untouched surroundings, the extensive cocktail and drinks list can be enjoyed in the bar or lounge before dinner. Our restaurant team have been the proud bearers of three AA rosettes–the top ten percent in the country. We offer both an indulgent, fine dining menu & a more relaxed bar menu to suit most tastes or moods. We serve truly local ingredients including organically-reared beef & lamb from the Haddon Estate. Please be aware that we do not take bookings for the bar as tables are first come, first serve. No Ala Carte menu available on Sunday More
