Owner Brian Piccini and Chef/Owner Christopher Coombs are proud of their award winning Restaurant & Bar, Deuxave in the Back Bay. The inspiration behind the restaurant’s American Nouveau Cuisine is seasonality, with a focus on working with the finest farms and purveyors, sourcing out the freshest, local ingredients and amplifying their magnificence. The cuisine is strongly rooted in the nouvelle techniques of contemporary French cuisine, married with the splendor of American ingredients in a refined, but casual setting. Deuxave’s (pronounced doo-ave) name plays homage to its location at the corners of Commonwealth Ave and Massachusetts Ave.

The staff is very knowledgeable and very accommodating to your needs and any special requests or substitutions. The food is phenomenal both in taste and presentation. My new favorite restaurant in Boston since L’Espalier closed its doors.

While our waiter was very kind and attentive and the food was good, I have to say the hostesses were terrible. I was greeted with disdain as I checked in with kids in tow. Yes I understand that this place isn’t the kind of place you bring kids to, but it was my mother’s birthday and babysitter had backed out. You would think with people reluctant to go out these days, they would be happy to have anyone come in (I digress). Then when leaving, I had my arms full, 2 bags, a toddler, a take out bag, with my 5 year old at my side. Both hostesses and the valet guy who was right at the door, did not move to help me open the 2 ridiculously heavy glass doors. As a patron who paid $500 for this meal, I don’t think it’s too much to ask for some niceties.

The service was spectacular from the valet to the wait staff. I enjoyed how our waitress described each dish as it was presented. The food was wonderfully delicious. Looking forward to my next visit.

We went to Deuxave for the first time to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. It was a delightful experience from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. The attentiveness to detail was extraordinary. The servers knew the menu well and provided very good explanations and guidance. The food presentation and taste exceeded our expectations. We will return.

The Night Moves Lobster And Potato Gnocchi appetizer us a must. I could come just for that app. The service is excellent. Our waiter was an expert with the wines. The staff really works as a team to provide you with excellent service. I got the prime cut steak, which was comes perfectly, and had delicious sides (parsnips with a broccoli pesto which went perfectly with the meat). For dessert, we shared a creme Catalonia, which can best be described as a deconstructed creme brulee, only with a thicker consistency. It was delicious. It is well worth the price. Highly recommend.

Extremely experimental dishes and cocktails that do not come together to form anything remotely close to being edible, resulting instead in a mishmash of dissonant flavors (each terrible on its own) that will take turns to abuse your taste buds.

Amazing servers though.

Delicious and beautiful food in a beautiful, romantic environment. great service. I mentioned it was my girlfriends birthday and they went above and beyond to make the moment special. Highly recommended and will be returning. Ps, the duck is spectacular.

I ate dinner at Deuxave this past Saturday night with my son and my husband. We had made a 8:30PM reservation through Open Table, however they let us come in as walk-ins at 6:30PM instead. We sat at the bar. Our cocktails and our main courses were excellent. My son and I had the Tagliatelle Bolognaise and my husband had the Long Island Duckling. For dessert, we ordered a selection of three cheeses. Two were imported from Europe. Only one was local, from Vermont. The Vermont cheese was fine, however the other two were just not that great. It seems to me that they should all have been local and they should all have been excellent. It was shocking to us that a restaurant that could make such outstanding main courses would offer such a mediocre cheese assortment. They need to work on that.

Went for an after Valentines day date night dinner with my wife. This was our 2nd time at Deuxave and it was consistenly outstanding. We really enjoyed and will keep going back for special occasions.

Deuxave does not disappoint. An elegant establishment featuring very well prepared, interesting dishes. We chose the tasting menu this trip and the chef delivered an array of terrific dishes from crab and star fruit to perfectly prepared halibut, duck and beef dishes. The place is pricey but worth it. The server was friendly and well informed about the cuisine. He made excellent wine choices. If you want a sophisticated setting with a memorable menu you cannot go wrong visiting Deuxave.

Previous meals at Deuxave inspired this return, however, all six of us were disappointed on this visit. Service was VERY slow; requests for "dressing on the side" were ignored; entrees we tepid, not hot. Our plates arrived with beautiful details; taste did not live up to appearance, by a long shot. Sad. Most unlikely to return.

Finally a restaurant to give 5 stars!!
Wait staff were super friendly and attentive. Darren was hilarious and made our night. The view from the high top table by the bar the bar was nice. Best chicken ever. And the hazelnut with guava sorbet was to die for. Will definitely be coming back next time we are in Boston. Top chef quality and AMAZING wine selection!!!

We went for a date and the food was ok, nothing what we expected specially for the price paid. Service was veeery slow and not as helpful as would've hoped. Overall it was a very overpriced dinner for a food not tasteful and a bad service.

This place ruined our Valentines Day. We made a Valentine's dinner reservation, showed up on time, and was told there'd be a 15-20 min wait for our table. The room was filled with people waiting, and it was clear that lots of people had also made reservations and were told to wait when they arrived.

So we waited by the bar, and it was freezing. Every time someone walked in/out of the restaurant, we caught a gust of cold air. We waited and waited, 15 mins turned into 45. The hostess was polite but seemed annoyed every time we asked for an update.

Finally after an hour, we couldn't take it anymore and left. Our Valentines night was ruined. I wish they had told us the true wait time and/or didn't take on so many reservations they couldn't fulfill.

Seems like this place is trying to be high-end and high volume at the same time...and as a result it's not achieving either very well.

I'm not sure if this is a common experience with this place as I only have one data point, but I felt the need to share that data point so others don't go through the same thing we did.

I’ve been talking about coming here for a long time and finally made the reservation to go. It did not disappoint and was well worth the visit. The food was excellent, I had the venison, my girlfriend had the mushroom ravioli. Both were excellent. Service was fantastic. The wine list was extensive featuring many French wines. Ordered a really nice bottle of wine and the sommelier was great too. I would highly recommend Deauxave.

We decided to celebrate Valentine’s Day a little early to beat the crowds and it was well worth it. The food and service were wonderful...they bring out the dishes at a slower pace for a more relaxed meal so don’t plan to get your food in a rush - it’s well worth the wait! We had the duck and venison and they were both top notch; we’ll def come here again!

If you like overpriced and pretentious food, this place is for you. Also, it is not really a French restaurant, despite it's trying to put foie gras in too many things. I can see someone going there to impress a date or a business client, but not if someone likes good French food.
