Dish Dining Room Ratings and Reviews
I get the feeling the staff weren't best pleased with our meagre order (and why should they be? Soup and chips in such a location is a bit of a mickey-take it has to be said...) but Dish is a very special place for us for a variety of reasons. Wanting vegan food, though, the only real option was soup and chips - and the soup is such that it is filling enough to constitute a meal in itself. It tastes impeccable, the croutons are to die for. A magnificent place with magnificent staff. Highly recommended.
Perfect atmosphere for Christmas with a lovely tree and orchestra playing. One of my guests was in a wheelchair and was well taken care of and given special attention by the manager. Food was enjoyed by everyone. Looking forward to the next visit with the girls!
Excellent food & looked after very well. Food was fresh & delicious & MEMORABLE. Coffee was decent quality too. Very quiet however which is a real shame as this restaurant is excellent. I will continue to support this restaurant, particularly as it is independent & the whole experience was memorable.
Heard about the new menu at Dish and decided to give it a try. I can say I wasn't disappointed. The flavours were fabulous the service was second to none. The ambience of the restaurant was so relaxing. All I can say is keep doing what your doing because it's one on the best fine dining experiences yet. Thank you Dish
I have visited this restaurant a number of times and always find the food to be excellent, the staff are very friendly and helpful. If you fancy a cocktail they are lovely and they often have a 2 for 1 offer on them. I have dined in the restaurant and upstairs in the bar area and both are equally as good, offering something different from the normal menu's in Leeds. The food is beautifully presented and although the portion sizes aren't huge there is plenty of choice of extra's if you have a big appetite. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Our first visit to Dish and we will return. The dining room is spacious and was a good place to meet up as a group. There were excellent options for both vegetarian and meat eaters. It was great to see the venue actually bothering to do interesting and unusual vegetarian dishes - not the usual "risotto or pasta"
The service was good, staff were really friendly - the only thing that stops us giving them the full 5 stars on service was that the meals for our party of 9 were not all delivered at the same time, so people had to sit watching their steamy dish of food get a less less steamy as we waited for the other dishes and our side orders only came out after asking twice. A little more organisation is needed.
This was only a small niggle on what was a highly enjoyable evening.
We loved the small touch of a candle on the birthday guy's desert!
Went with friends prior to a concert. We were the only ones intially but it soon filled up. waitress pleasant and efficient - described some of the items on the menu we weren't familiar with. Had pate for starters - great taste and enough toast to see it through. All nicely presented. The main dish with chicken and sweet potato puree was excellent and my friends enjoyed the smoked haddock main, with a beautifully cooked soft egg. Inlcuding a dessert and a glass of wine - for £19.99 you can't go wrong
I had been to Dish once before with friends and was suitably impressed, having worked as a chef for a number of years I tend to find my standards a little higher than most so when it came to a first date I knew where I was going!
We had an amazing time, great food, lovely atmosphere and outstanding service.
Suffice to say, the date went very well, thanks!
This must be without doubt the best dining experience in the city, keep your curtains the food here is sublime, coupled with the attentive knowledgable service I really can't recommend the place any higher, definitely a dining experience to remember, the monkfish cheeks in pork popcorn and the sea trout with a lovely coconut and chilli foam broth where both superb!
This was our second visit to Dish, and both times we have not only really enjoyed the food and wine, but also had a really fun dining experience. We would particularly recommend the 5-course degustation menu with wine flight. A bit more expensive than a la carte, but well, well worth it for a special occasion.
Mid week lunch with a friend was excellent. A voucher for a shared starter and bottle of wine was very good value and the main course at under £10 made for a not expensive yet very good lunch. The service was excellent, serving staff were attentive but not overbearing and the food was served with good timing - plenty of time to chat but no long waits.
We enjoyed a 5 course taster menu with Prosecco and wine flight. The food was excellent, beautifully cooked and presented. The wines complimented the courses. The service was excellent. Although the restaurant was busy everyone appeared to be enjoying their experience. We had previously taken advantage of a couple of vouchers for burger lunches which were enjoyed immensely. Highly recommended.
Had a wonderful dining experience at Dish with a small group of friends celebrating a birthday. First we arrived with 3 more guests than we should and a little late. The staff was very understanding, allowed us to have a cocktail first before heading downstairs. The bar has a lovely warm feel, Menu's had been brought to us, as we drank our cocktails and explained all the specials and different menus.
The menu reads fantastic and really got the taste buds working. We all opted for different items and some of different menus, but nothing was to much trouble for the staff. Even the dietary requirements handled superb. Cant recommend the restaurant enough, Great food, lovely service and a defo return.
I've been to Dish a few times now and it never disappoints. I love their cocktails and the staff are so friendly and knowledgeable about both food & drink. I normally take advantage of their 241 cocktails Friday between 5-7 and usually end up staying the night there!! On our last visit myself and a few friends enjoyed a fabulous meal there from their degustation menu. This is a 5 course tatsing experience with full wine flight at £59.00 pp. I had wild boar salami, east coast crab & tiger prawns with horseraddish snow, 4 things from a pig and then the assiette of desserts. We have also been in twice for lunch and Dish never disappoints. Looking forward to our next visit!!
Came here last sat night, after a lovely couple of cocktails, including a teapot in the upper cocktail bar, we where shown to our table by a very helpful waiter, after being fully informed of specials we decided on a cracking couple of fish dishes, a crab & tiger prawns and a scallop dish finished with smoked white chocolate sauce! Wow!
For the mains we had a hanger steak, not something I had seen before, but which was delicious, my wife had the lamb 3 ways, so so good, all finished with an assiette of desserts and a couple of lovely bottles of wine from an exciting list which seems to sit in very well with the exceptional food on offer, all in all a superb meal in an absolute gem of a restaurant, highly recommended.
We have been to the dish many times but this time we had a voucher. We didn't actually read the voucher properly and booked in for dinner with a lunch voucher. The head chef, who was also the owner, let us use the voucher. We shared a starter of duck parfait - which we had last time and then both had burgers (which were amazing!) Great food and fantastic service. Will definitely be returning.
Our evening at Dish was a wonderful experience from start to finish the food was excellent and the choice outstanding. We picked the taster menu and it was very good and varied. The atmosphere was just right with good background music. Most of all we were really impressed by all the staff who were friendly attentive without being over the top. we will certainly be going back well done and thanks for a great night!
Tuesday night on Boar Lane.
South side - Dish, maybe not as weird as Anthony's but really interesting, ambitious food. It is special, not just fuel. The bar upstairs needs to be more welcoming. Downstairs is proper posh and the food did not disappoint - the liver parfait brulee and the 4 things from a pig are superb. Monkfish cheeks in pork popcorn was a bit overdone but otherwise this was the best food in Leeds centre since the pre Digby's New Ellington. Which brings me to my point ; only 3 tables were taken in Dish. What a tragedy if they join Anthony's, New Ellington, Grillade as authentic restaurants that can't survive.
North side - some Mexican place serving pap - packed out. I guess Leeds gets the restaurants it deserves.
I have visited Dish a number of times for evening drinks and have always been impressed at the service and quality. We booked dinner here to try the menu and were not disappointed. The service was impeccable and the food was delicious. I really liked the ambience of the restaurant but was disappointed at how quiet it was - we did visit on a Tuesday however so this may have been a factor. I would recommend this bar and restaurant to all my friends and look forward to visiting again soon
First time I have been to Dish and I was not disappointed. The food was excellent, a really nice change from the usual me is in Leeds. The venison was fantastic and the cheeseboard was great value. It's a good setting, I went with a friend of mine but could have felt comfortable in a large group or on a date. Definitely one for foodies out there
Second time for dinner at Dish in its new premises on Boar Lane and just as good, if not better than the first time. Great service, really good atmosphere and tables not crammed in too close together. Quality rather than quantity is the theme for the food and rightly so. Had 3 courses and all presented beautifully and very tasty. Almost too much crackling with the belly pork main. Tremendous value for money and good selection of wine too. Will be returning.
We booked Sunday lunch and when we arrived, discovered that there was a 2 for 1 offer. We had the roast beef which was tender and the roast potatoes perfect. There was a varied selection of vegetables to accompany it. The service was attentive but not invasive.
Excellent cooking, with intriguing but well-thought out combinations of top-notch ingredients. Every mouthful was a joy to eat. Probably the best food in Leeds at the moment. Staff struck just the right balance, not too formal or overly familiar. My only niggle was the paper napkins. Linen would be much better.
Had a Saturday evening meal in this busy restaurant. The seating area is a bit plain and can get noisey; however this is really the only minor niggle.
The service was friendly and attentive.
The menu was interesting and all our party could have eaten several things on the menu.
The meals themselves were of good quality and well served; the only negative points were that the fish (sole) was a bit small and a little overcooked and the treacle tart did not quite work. Otherwise everything else was very good. We look forward to returning to try out other didhes.
