Great location, superb quality and efficient service. Food and wine was very tasty and we'll definitely be back!
Unfortunately the restaurant did not have record of our reservation through opentable so we were sat outside. However the outside table was actually well sheltered and quieter than inside the main restaurant. Service was ok- it was quite busy with lots of MoonWalkers but the food more than made up for it. Food was tasty and authentic. Would go again and recommend.
Thoroughly recommended: great food (albeit not the mind-bending fare that a few really creative restaurants deliver), served in a pleasant ambience at very reasonable prices.
Service was good, though once the restaurant filled up it felt like they were slightly short-staffed.
Nice atmosphere, good food and good value. We had a lovely Friday evening here and would go back.
Great Italian food and wine, served by friendly staff. The oven fired pizza , Quattro Stagioni was very tasty. Good place to meet up and an easy, 10 mins walk from Clapham Junction Station.
Amazing food, the best service. Friendly and fun people who make every meal feel like a special occasion.
The restaurant didn't have a record of our Open Table booking!!! There were 8 of us!!! We had to sit outside in the cold. The staff were great but blamed OT servers for making us dine in the dark and cold. Who is right?
Simply excellent, best pizza in London for sure! Will be returning.
normally great but disappointing on Friday- the restaurant was really full and even though we had booked we had to sit outside (under heater) for 30 mins.
Then we kept having to ask for wine/ water which they hadn't brought over as they seemed so busy.
Would go again if they weren't so busy!
I was there with my parents who came to see me from Italy for Christmas holidays. The staff is amazing. Everyone was friendly and made us feel at home. The food was good too. The only downfall was the missing table cloth!
I would go back again for the third time.
Wonderful old world recipes superbly prepared.
A truly great Italian place with authentic feel and amazing people.
Have been coming here for 5 years now and will keep returning.
Waitress didn't speak good English and short staffed so had to wait to order. Food took ages and had to send two courses back because they were cold. One was remade (risotto) but the lobster and pasta was reheated which made the lobster inedible. We used to enjoy this restaurant but that is twice in a row that it has been really poor. We won't be going back.
Amazing food! The staff were really friendly and gave us good recommendations for food and wine! Really impressed for the price and will definitely be back
If you’re looking for a good Italian in Clapham look no further
Returned to the restaurant after a few years away. Sat on the balcony. Lovely summer evening. Food was excellent. Love the restaurant. Slightly annoyed that when the Rose we wanted was not available it was replaced by an alternative. This was charged to our bill. The price was fairly eye-watering and not in line with expectations £38 for an £8 wine! Felt slightly hoodwinked to be honest. (Should have asked the price but there you go)..Did not mention it as it was our wedding anniversary and did not want to taint the meal (which was lovely). Other than that I would go again
A cute, but small 24 seat restaurant downstairs, where you are 12 inches from your neighbor’s table. A good start with nice service, a bottle of cold water on the table, and good crusty fresh bread. We would have ordered glasses of wine, but wines are only identified by varietal. No mention of producer or vintage year. No serious wine drinker would order a wine they didn’t know. We had the pizza margarita which was quite good. It could have had a bit more taste, but the crust was good. Then tried the linguine vongole. First big problem was that the clams were not in the shell. How does one know if the clams are fresh or canned? The second problem was worse. The clams didn’t taste fresh, and the sauce was oily with little or no clam juice or clamflavor. Prices are fair. But it’s not likely we would return.
Lovely interior - our waiter (Don Giovanni) was outstanding - made us feel welcomed - guided us through menu items - had us sample different things - food was delicious - visiting family in the UK so only here a week - but it's on our list of places to return to.
This was everything you'd hope for and expect from a good night out in Italy without the cost of the flights! Really is an exciting venue. Fabulous menu with excellent ingredients. The least expensive white wine on the list was perfect. The staff were genuinely friendly, gave great advice and recommendations and happily went off to ask the chef if we had any other questions. They also kindly accommodated our request to move our booking back to 9pm as we had been held up.
To new, prospective customers, I would just say don't be put off by the restaurant name; sounds like a pizza joint ~ it is anything but!
Excellent fresh food, very good wine and great service.
Decided to try this family run restaurant with a friend after reading good reviews on OpenTable. Happy to say it most definitely lived up to its great reputation. All of the waiters and waitresses were super helpful, friendly, efficient and upbeat which was fantastic. As we were struggling to decide between a few types of wine, the waitress very kindly let us try samples of them which I thought was great. My friend and I both ordered the lobster linguine which we cannot recommend enough. Not only do you get half a lobster with the shell and everything, the dish was so tasty and had just the perfect amount of flavour where you could still taste the sweetness of the lobster meat. It is slightly messy to eat though so perhaps not an ideal dish for first date settings, otherwise I most definitely urge you to try this! I already have plans to return here again
Good pizza, restaurant is a bit cramped though
We had a fantastic evening at Donna Margherita, the owner/maitre d was so friendly and passionate about the menu, it felt like we were in Italy! The food was outstanding, with well timed gaps between each course to let your food go down. The wine was great, the pizza amazing and even though we were too full for a dessert, the owner brought us over a little taster of their chocolate torte which was delicious. The ambience was lovely too, so nice not to go to a chain restaurant but to somewhere independent and authentic! Would definitely recommend to anyone who loves Italian food. We will be back soon!
Really pleased with the restaurant. Genuine Italian food, produced by genuine Italians. Lots of Italian customers, so that says it all.
About 20 minutes before arriving I recieved a phone call from the manager telling me that they no longer recieve open table bookings and he would not be able to seat us until another 2 hours later. Baring in mind I had booked my reservation a week beforehand I thought it was very unprofessional to tell me this whilst on my way to the restaurant with my friends who had travelled far to celebrate my birthday. I arrived at my original time anyway as I was already on my way, my fiancé spoke with the manager and they agreed to seat us, I was confused because the restaurant was not busy nor did it get any busier throughout the night. Anyway the food was average, came out quick but wasn’t anything special. There was a dull atmosphere, I guess I was expecting to experience an authentic Italian vibe but I couldn’t even hear any music playing. Either way I wouldn’t go back, and I don’t recommend, there’s plenty of better Italian restaurants in London, don’t waste your time.
One of my favourite Italians in London. It's delicious. I'd recommend the pizzas and the fresh pasta, also the arancini starter is great.
This place was a great find! It was very cozy and you felt like you were in someone's living room, however it was a little too hot by the fire!
Food was fantastic and I could not fault the service.
We always had great time here, service and food always good.
Always a delight to come here! Has that lovely authentic homely Italian feel to it, food is delicious and a great wine list
Very authentic! The handmade pasta was unbelievably good in texture -- and we each got a different cut. Flavors were strong and the ingredients were fresh. A new favorite!
We went there for my daughter’s 11th birthday with friends and family, food was good, staffs was friendly.
This has been my favorite restaurant since I moved to Battersea a few years ago. Me and my husband tend to come for special occasions as well as mid week for a treat. Staff are friendly and food is AMAZING
Open Table confirmed my reservation but the restaurant was not informed and had no record of it. Luckily, they were able to accommodate our large party of 8 for a limited time slot, which happened to suit us so it all worked out well and everyone loved the food.
Best Italian in london, carabonara highly reccomended.
One of the best / genuine Italian restaurants in London. Excellent ingredients, fantastic customer service (the owner is extremely enthusiastic about his job and passionate about food), great selection of wine and very food at reasonable prices. I will go back more and more, no doubts.
It is a real shame that service is so slow as the food we eventually had was good. The service was friendly but at a snail's pace which we couldn't understand as the restaurant was not at all full. One of the starters had to go back because it was cold and we had to ask after the main courses which did not arrive once the starters were finished. One pizza had to go back twice because it had the wrong topping and we ended up taking it out whole in a takeaway box with other half-eaten pizzas because we ran out of time as we had tickets for a show.
Great service but the pasta dishes were all cold and underwhelming. The garlic bread was amazing though. So maybe stick to pizza. Such a shame as I was expecting great things.
Great restaurant with friendly and helpful staff.
Food is great with a big choice.
10 minute walk from Clapham Junction station. The restaurant was empty when I arrived at 7pm for a table of 3, so was quite surprised to be seated at the back (when we left it was totally full!). However the waiter who served us was really helpful and made us feel very comfortable. Choice of starters and main courses was superb, food was very good and the atmosphere very lively. Just a tip, if you choose the fish and want it filleted, best to ask at point of ordering
Authentically Italian with excellent choice of wine and overall cost sensible.
This place was a great find - a really good value set menu of delicious food, and a great place to take kids! Definitely recommended.
