Doost Persian Grill and Vodka Bar
The decor is modern and the seating consists of booths at one end of the restaurant, and smaller tables dotted around it.
Loyal regulars come back again and again for never-changing favourites, but seasonal additions keep it interesting. Service is reliable and there is no problem adding something to a dish if you wish. The clientele is a mixture of couples young and old, families and groups of friends.
The menu also hits all the right notes, knockout dishes (try the Duck Breast in a Pomegranate & Walnut sauce). Alternatively, perch on a stool at the bar while knocking back Frozen Vodka shots & snacking on mazeh mix platter.
Doost is fully licensed and you can indulge in classic or Champagne cocktails for about £6. One particularly welcome addition is a larger choice of wines by the glass, bottles of wine start at around £13.95 and bottle beer is available .
The restaurant was empty and we have booked. We sat at the worst table. Part of the table was blocked by the wall.
Another couple came more than an hour after us
This is the first time I experienced a lack of welcoming
The all evening the greatest activities was the Deliveroo man
I can understand why people use Deliveroo rather than seating at the restaurant
Ashamed the food was excellent
Really enjoyed eating here. The service was very good. We were seated by the window and every need was thoughtfully attended to. The staff made great recommendations for us from the menu and I would definitely visit again.
Lovely food, great service, sensibly priced wine list.
Really fantastic food in a charming and intimate setting. Super clichéd description but it's genuinely a nugget of joy
Good little find, recommend the Duck. Service was very good, went on a Sunday so restaurant was quiet.
Doost is a charming place with amazing Persian food and a wide variety of vodkas. We really enjoyed lamb and chicken torsh and the duck. The meze platter is also mouth watering.
Food was tasty but sadly not fulfilling. Very small portions at very expensive (relatively) prices. We ordered 4 different cocktails- all tasted watered down. Generally a very mediocre experience. Will not be going back.
Excellent! Found this place via the internet and wasn't disappointed. Really lovely service, very good food and a great find. Will definitely come back and recommended too!
Love the restaurant always great tasting food. The menu was superb . The staffing are like family . Truly a great evening.
The entire family loved this place. Many thanks to the staff for the lovely welcome .
We shall return
A really pleasant experience with delicate and tasty Persian food. The vodka is great too!
We went to celebrate my partner's birthday and had a very enjoyable meal. Will definitely come again. The food was really nice and the rice was to die for.+
Found the restaurant through open table and booked on the night. We were lucky to get a table considering how small the restaurant is. Food was delicious, and couldn’t say no to vodka given that it’s a vodka bar. Nice flavoured vodkas, very nice lamb stew and chicken kebab. Good service and good ambiance. Will come again.
As Kennington locals, we have been to Doost a few times before, but not for a couple of years. They seem to have really upped their game since our last visit and we had a very good meal. The menu is now more extensive with lots of tempting choices. We definitely won’t leave it so long again til our next visit.
Fast service but starter (calamari) was pretty tasteless and a waste of money. My main course, the lamb was cooked nicely and was a huge portion!
My husband and I had suppor at Doost on a Saturday evening. The restaurant was busy and had a nice atmosphere. The service was very good and the staff attentive. The food was lovely. Well cooked, fresh and very tasty. There is a good selection of cocktails - obviously Vodka based. The restaurant was clean. I would certainly return.
Very nice and interesting experience
Lovely evening meal
Really tasty food and lovely, lovely staff. One of my favourite restaurants now in the local area.
Had yet another delicious meal at Doost. Amazing grilled meats, wonderful rice and the best bread. Definitely worth a visit!
Lovely warm welcome and advise from the staff. Great vodka drinks options. Relaxed, warm environment to go with friends.
Thel service is outstanding and you feel like having been invited to someone's home. It is personal but never intrusive. The food is great and we'll worth a visit.
Food was ok - service needs to be a bit slicker - waiting staff appeared a bit inexperienced
Nice venue very friendly staff but didn't seem to know what they were doing and had to ask several times for things and they got some items wrong. I did tip because I could see they were trying but they need training.
This was my second (and last) visit to Doost restaurant. I went back to Doost because of their great food & service on my first visit. I went back for the Salmon & rice but, unfortunately they did not have the Salmon in stock, and they could not provide another dish that I asked for. Several Vodkas were also not in stock from their menu and the poor waiter was there for the day so he did not know anything about anything.
Overall this place is badly run, disorganised and I will not be returning.
My husband and I have been dining at the DOOST for a very long time, especially on first Wednesdays of the month when there is life jazz. The ambiance is great, the food is delicious, the staff are very friendly, etc.
A lovely local restaurant that I had been meaning to go to for a long time. We went on a quiet Tuesday evening. The food was excellent. My lamb kebab was tender and full of flavour. We plan to return and work our way through their menu. Service was excellent.
Consistent and reliable dishes but the service was a bit patchy
I am a big fan of Persian food and wanted to visit Doost for a long time. I wasn't dissapointed. The food was very tasty, especially the Duck in pomegranate and walnut sauce. The atmosphere was nice and relaxed. Will definitely go back to try more tasty dishes.
We were delighted that the che came in person to advise us since we know nothing about Persian food.
When it came, the main course was delicious - piping hot and freshly prepared.
Although advertise for two, the dish was ample for the three of s; the portions are very generous.
We followed it with the best-tasting ice cream we have had for many years.
We enjoyed a very good and reasonably priced bottle of wine.
A great place to celebrate a special occasion in a quiet and restful atmosphere.
Kind service and nice and quiet ambiance. Nice dishes with original sauce creations.
As usual the food and service was exemplery and we had a good time. Early part of the week is quieter than Friday/Saturday.
We have tried quite a few things from the menu and have never been disappointed! The restaurant is not huge, and so it is advised to book in advance. It has a very cosy feeling. When you go, try to save room for the saffron ice cream! It is so delicious, but it is easy to get so full with just the appetisers and the main course!
I live nearby and have been back so often to try different things on the menu, or have my favourite (duck in walnut sauce). The staff are always super friendly and i love seeing other locals who've lived in the area chatting away with them.
I had never focussed on the vodka before but my friend says they've got an excellent range and serve it perfectly.
It's an intimately decorated space ideal for dates and taking a friend. They couldn't accommodate a group of us once but i don't blame them - it was a busy Saturday and we hadn't booked! It is small but lovely and warm in winter (extra warm if you get a chilli dish!).
A negative: the kitchen vents onto the street so it is torture for me when i need to walk that way to the gym. The smell is so damn good!! 😛
Both myself and my partner experienced a lovely ambient evening at Doost Persian Grill. The waitress was welcoming even after being slightly behind with my pre booked time. The venue is classy, the furnishing is well put together ,comfortable and clean. The menu is pleasing and can accommodate all palates. The meal chosen, as this was our 1st time there, was the waitresses recommendations and that was definitely no let down. It was beautiful, flavour some and well cooked. You could tell this food was cooked with love and passion. We even had the honour of seeing the chef who came out to greet us. What a humble man, did not get his name but thank you ever so much for a wonderful meal. I strongly recommend everyone try this restaurant, you would not be disappointed at all. I will definitely come back again and real soon, excellent !
The best tasting Persian food in London - healthiest too
shared a mixed starter platter and had chicken and lamb grilled for main, all so tasty and some of the food i'd not had before, so great to know there is a quality Persian in London!
Very friendly waiter and good service by all through out.
Lovely, would go back and will be spreading the word!
Not located in an area you would usually pass by if not on purpose, this place is a real discovery.
Friendly staff, amazing food, balanced and delicate yet unusual and truly original. You go once, you'll come back for sure.
Great staff and atmosphere. Slightly out of the city and worth a visit.
Visited Doost as I love Middle-Eastern food and this place is just around the corner from my boyfriend's house. It was AMAZING. My boyfriend chose a fantastic lamb dish (I can't remember which one, but there is a lot of lamb to choose from). I had the chicken with pomegranate which was great but very rich and a bit too much for me. The portions are huge, I had to go home and put on my (wildly attractive, ultra romantic) elasticated waistband trousers. :|
The place was easy to find and the food was good. I think we enjoyed the grilled vegetable salad the most. The only drawback was how cold it was in there otherwise I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
