The Duke of Wellington Inn is nestled in the tranquil Tyne valley village of Newton just off the A69 near Corbridge, within easy access to Newcastle, Hadrian"s Wall Country, Hexham and Northumberland's National Park. The décor reflects the traditional country inns history but with a modern twist. Existing oak and stone has been enhanced with modern colours, furniture and fabrics, and the theme extends to the bedrooms.
Lunches and dinners are served seven days a week in the bar and dining room. The food provided is traditional British comfort eating to an exceptional standard and makes use of local, seasonal ingredients. A comprehensive range of beers and ales compliments an extensive wine list. The inn experience continues with seven bedrooms providing a very high quality of luxury accommodation. Lovely setting, decor. Views great. Plenty of space between tables. Very varied choice on the menu. Good fresh produce. A range of drinks to suit everyone and budget. Friendly staff, good service. Dog friendly area too and outsideseating for lovely views on a summer evening.

Went for Sunday lunch with family, party of four adults. Shown to table near window as requested. Staff friendly, but professional, and very keen to help/please. Sunday Roast excellent , three of us had pork loin and one lamb. Huge Yorkshire Puds, crispy roast potatoes, good selection of veg and all great quality and absolutely delicious. This was an important occasion for us and it was faultless. Thank you to all staff at The Duke - see you again soon.

The service was excellent throughout the meal, very quick to take our drink and food orders, service with a smile. The Sunday lunch was excellent, the best I've had for a little while. Great choice of starters, mains and desserts, we will 100% be back.

Lovely restaurant beautiful setting with great views great Sunday lunch good portion sizes and beautifully cooked and presented overall top notch and would certainly recommend and will be back. Have eaten at the DoW many times before but not for Sunday lunch

We l haven’t been for a few months and unfortunately the experience wasn’t as good as usual. The service was slow - we waited about an hour for food - and some of it was cold. Hopefully this was just a blip

We stayed and ate at The Duke of Wellington and everything about it was really good. The food is good quality pub fare plus and is served with a really good attitude. The accommodation is very comfortable. The only downside to our experience was that more people were not also enjoying it. The place deserves more custom. I am sure it gets it at other times of the week. If in the area do go. You will not be disappointed.
