Dukes 92 was originally a stable block for the horses delivering foods off barges to the Merchants warehouse opposite. From these humble begininngs the building now houses Manchester's original bar and grill which has been refurbished and extended three times since its opening in 1991 the space today is informal and airy with the buildings heritage being reflected in a subtle blend of antique furniture and modern fixed seating.
With its most recent refurbishment Dukes can now properly call itself a venue with two bars, three private events spaces, a grill restaurant, excellent smoking facilities, canalside terrace and balcony overlooking the canal basin. Dukes continued appeal relies on its ability to transform from a relaxed, family friendly environment by day to a vibrant and stylish bar and grill by night.
The space has been extended and refurbished since its opening in 1991 and inside its interior combines contemporary features and its trademark antique furniture.

I had a lovely meal for my birthday with friends. The waiting staff were friendly and helpful. When I told them it was my birthday they brought me a glass of prosecco which was nice of them. My meal -duck curry- was tasty. My friend ordered chicken wings for starter unfortunately they were too salty. When she spoke to the waitress about it, there was no issue and she said she would take it off the bill. Apart from that we were happy with our meals. The music was good not too loud so we could have a good chat. If we wanted to stay out later there was a DJ and people were up dancing, lovely atmosphere. We will be back😊

We decided last minute to take the barge to the Man United v Leicester game on Friday night so Dukes 92 was a convenient location, this was a corporate business meeting so it had to be right, the food and service were excellent, the girl who served us was very pleasant and nothing was too much trouble, I cannot comment about the bill because somebody else picked up the tab ( thank you god haha) but I do know the food I chose was very reasonably priced, would I go again, you better believe it, fabulous location, staff and atmosphere.

The food was great but the service and drinks left much to be desired. The jug of pimms was terrible and was charged £22 for that. The service was given by nice but inattentive people who asked if we needed more drinks when we'd just been given a full jug of "pimms" and asked if we needed more food when we'd eaten a starter and had just been given our mains. It was nice to be asked if everything was okay with our food but we had been seen by 4 different members of staff in 10 minutes. This isn't so bad but then when you spend 5-10 minutes trying to attract someone's attention when you want to pay the bill and leave seems strange to me.
The food was excellent, but the drinks were poor and the service was just okay.

Music too loud for the eating area. We asked for a table further away near the rear of the restaurant but weren’t accommodated. Food was excellent though. Bar and restaurant were extremely busy and we were delayed on our table time.

A lovely venue and was absolutely packed. Sadly, we had two different male waiters who made lots of errors between them. One drink came out, the other didn't. Part of the food order came, part of it didn't even when already paid for as is necessary when sitting outside. Another drink ordered, another drink forgotten. Thank goodness for the female waitress who mopped up the mistakes. Very loud outside. Not sure there was a need for the live music, as great as it was, as there was so much chat due to so many people being there. Food was tasty when it came.

I wasn't expecting the restaurant to be in the middle of all the hustle and bustle of people coming in and out to get drinks and near the bar area. It was hard to hear what my partner was saying at some points, the waiting service was okay, I would say they need to be more aware of when people seem to be ready to order food and drinks.

We had Sunday Lunch for 5 on 29/07/18. The chicken breast was tiny, the vegetables were under-cooked (and I do not mean al dente). The whole meal was swimming in gravy.

There was live music which was much too loud and inappropriate for a lunch-time meal. We had to shout to each other to be heard over the music. The only positive was the service was good.

Nice decor and the food was okay.
Staff seemed uninterested and like they didn’t want to be there. Dirty wine glasses on the table, had to ask for these to be replaced and awful coffee.

Nothing amazing, much better alternatives in the city.

Arrived 30 mins early and shown straight to our table , ideally situated to people watch .Extremely friendly staff providing super speedy service throughout . Food was delicious , would definitely recommend the sharing boards ...and steaks and desserts 🙈
The food was reasonsbly priced too compared to other city centre restaurants we’ve tried recently , although £4.90 for a coke due to driving was a tad excessive

We had booked a table as it was a special occasion and were not even greeted by anyone when we entered so just decided to take a seat. We gathered we had to order at the bar as no one came over to us. When the barman took our order he didn’t seem like he was concentrating and spent more time laughing and joking with a colleague. We ordered 3 small plates and 3 main meals and a round of drinks. We were rather shocked to find that all of the food came out at once... when we were expecting the small plates first and then the main means which is normal practice having dined at a number of restaurants before. We were told that as we had sat in the ‘bar area’ the barman should have informed us that the food would come out all at once, he did not and had we known this we would have gone and sat in the ‘food area’. The waiter said she would make fresh food and bring it out once we had finished the small plates and it was clear once the main meals were presented that they were the original dishes that had been presented to us that had just been kept warm which made the burger and lamb dishes extremely dry. I was so disappointed in the whole experience as I have not been to Dukes for a little while but had told my family members that I was celebrating with that it had previously been nice and we were really looking forward to it. Would be reluctant to go back or recommend.

Staff took ages to take orders, there was no segregation from the restaurant and the bar which was noisy and full of football fans celebrating.

Considering it must have been one of the busiest days of the year so far - with the weather AND the football, we had a great experience at Dukes 92!! Fab service, great atmosphere and lovely food. Would definitely go back again.

Can't rate the food/value but booked table and showed confirmation but could not get access into the venue as they were 'at capacity' because of the football. However, if you knew the bouncer or had a friend in a hen party they somehow did have the capacity. This was after coming out of the queue after being told to go to the front if you had a booking. Heard from others that it was nearly an hour to get a drink. Ended up at Dmitri's which was much better.

It was a last minute booking and there were 7 of us but took an hour to arrive, a colleagues dinner came and the others didn’t come for 15 minutes later. The service was shocking without a smile but the manager did have a smile and a free bottle of wine.

Hate to leave this review as it’s one of my favourite places but was so disappointed this time. Food was burnt for a start and after asking for more drinks and eventually the bill 6 times we gave up and just went to the counter ourselves to pay. Staff seemed oblivious to us and were just stood around chatting amongst themselves rather than responding to our requests.
Please get better dukes, quickly!!

I had the Cheese Burger, which was very nice. It was pink in the middle but I assumed that it was fresh minced steak meat in any case and was safe. I was wrong and spent the rest of the evening on the toilet and in bed the next day.

Pre-theatre meal Saturday early evening in June. Really busy and full of life in bar & restaurant. Drinks a little pricey, but it's city centre so kind-of expected. Food superb - presented well and really good value. We'll go back!

Amazing place. Excellent decor and atmosphere. Food very good, although the main courses didn’t all come out together which is disappointing as we had to choose between waiting to all eat together and some food going cold, or starting when not everyone had any food. We were only a 6 so would have thought they could get food out together! The service started off well, very friendly, however we had to ask multiple times for things and also had to flag down the waiter who seemed must more interested in serving female only tables and we were couples. Also, the pudding was almost cold and should have been hot, took so long to both be able to order it and then to receive it that we didn’t say anything/send it back, but wasn’t as it should be. It could have been excellent except for a few annoyances and hit and miss service. Would definitely go back though
