With its most recent refurbishment Dukes can now properly call itself a venue with two bars, three private events spaces, a grill restaurant, excellent smoking facilities, canalside terrace and balcony overlooking the canal basin. Dukes continued appeal relies on its ability to transform from a relaxed, family friendly environment by day to a vibrant and stylish bar and grill by night.
The space has been extended and refurbished since its opening in 1991 and inside its interior combines contemporary features and its trademark antique furniture.

In the past I’ve often come in here for drinks and the casual atmosphere it offers, the sun terrace is lovely for late afternoons. In recent weeks mum and I decided to try the food properly, as we enjoyed the food provided when my niece had her wedding reception here last year. Absolutely love the food and couldn’t fault it especially the first time. Yesterday, I had ordered a meal which was delicious and when I finally tucked into the coleslaw, all was well until I spotted a small black hair in it, which has put me off eating coleslaw for a while now. Can you please ensure kitchen staff are clean shaven or at least hair nets are worn correctly? I understand hair falls out but to minimise risk of hygiene being compromised in the food, that would be my only constructive feedback in that area.
My mum found her cod main had too much salt. Is there any option we could order without in future to allow someone to control how much salt they want to sprinkle on their meal?
All in all, I would recommend this venue as the atmosphere is lovely, in a lovely location and great value for wedding receptions/wedding days.

Not a good experience at all. We booked a table for a Tuesday after work. It was 30 degrees outside, roasting hot, and we were not allowed in because my husband was wearing flip flops, a nice pair of flip flops. For a pub with a terrace next to the canal, in a hot summer day, this felt a bit too pretentious. Definitely won't be coming back.
I was very upset with my experience at dukes. I have been going for years regularly and always had a great experience. Tuesday was unfortunately a show. We was told after we ordered that out starters and mains would come out together. We wouldn’t of ordered a starter as our main would be cold. Our food then arrived before the drinks. I always get the prawns to start and it was horrible the sauce had congealed on top, prawns weren’t fresh and the salad was all old a wilted. I didn’t have more than a taste. My steak was cold and medium to well done when I ask or rare to medium. The staff member told us the starter was sat under the heater for a while and that why it had done like that. He took my steak and the replacement was perfect. We then got our pudding that had not all the ingredients it was sold as. Very very poor and considering it was less than half they would of had pre COVID I would of thought the service would of been perfect. It’s a beautiful place and will return for drinks but I feel the food is really not up to scratch anymore... such a shame.
The food was nice however service was terrible! We had to ask for cutlery, asked for water 5 times (ordered 3 times on app and asked 2 different members of staff) and drinks were not served together, mine arrived after my food!
Turned up for our booking at 5 o’clock only to be not allowed to our table due to a member of the booking being in trainers, while I have no problem with a dress code their website states only after 8pm however Rex on the door said this was actually decided at his discretion and that day he decided no trainers after 5pm, when we tried to reason he just walked in and cancelled our booking and asked us to leave, to add to the frustration while waiting for a taxi back home 11 minutes later we watched a group of 4 girls get in wearing trainers, I don’t know if the rule only applies to men? Maybe going forward they could mention this on booking confirmation emails or texts to save future disappointment.

Waited about 15 mins for someone to take our drinks order,ordered food at same time then waited a further 30 mins for starter waited a further 50 mins for our mains,i ordered steak medium rare but when it came it was cold,well done and it looked like the bottom of an old shoe.
We told the manager he sorted us out with a couple of drinks he said my new and improved steak would be with us in a couple of mins,15 mins later my steak was here and it was plump juicy and everything a steak should be.
My wife ordered fish and chips which came with mushy peas but the peas did not arrive with her meal we came to dukes 92 together but ended up eating separately?
When we asked for the bill we got asked if everything was OK with our meal we told the waitress it was not great at all so she amended our bill which we where thankful for.
Always guaranteed a great meal here. The chicken wings are the best in Manchester! Great service too, especially Lewis who always looks after us!

Oh it was just lovely
The food was packed with flavour it wasnt bland at all. And my steak in particular was very succulent, tender and juicy -love it
The staff were really nice, had a smile all throughout despite wearing visors on a hot day. They were happy to answer any questions. The atmosphere in general was really nice
The only critique I would have is the guy standing outside - he wasnt very nice or welcoming, a bit intimidating. He gave me a club bouncer kind of vibe
Other than that excellent I would visit again

Still a little unsure about safety arrangements
Unfortunately we had to keep moving tables as nobody considered social distancing. And the minute we moved someone was seated too close so had to keep moving and disturbing our meal. Food was 100% but the fact that nobody considered the social distancing made us on edge.
It was just okay. Door service was unfriendly. Our table was not clean when we sat down. The food came 10 minutes before our drinks. No one really said anything to us they just put food down and walked away. The place looks good and could be really nice but we felt there was a lack of any decent service. We had Sunday roast and it was nice but not worth the £12 we paid.
Staff was poor and extremely rude upon entry. would only visit again due to the good vibe but all of the staff were attrocious and wouldnt put them in my farm.
The Sunday menu - roast chicken was amazing! I have been here for the last 2 Sunday’s on the trot for Sunday dinner! The staff are very friendly and helpful and the food is such amazing quality and the flavours are incorporated really well. Definitely recommend.
Great food great atmosphere service was good and food and drinks came very quick
Door staff managed the crowd well by being picky on ratio, dress code and covid19 requirements on the door. This is an important factor.
There are rooms for improvement to take the service to the next level by being consistent in certain area. Staff should proactively bring cutlery without us asking or offer sauce. Table to be cleaned more frequently and dirty plates or glasses to be removed and fresh glasses to be offered.
I am being quite critical now due to my F&B background but I'm sure management would appreciate my feedback.

Meal was of an okay standard. However we ordered some cocktails and they didn’t come. We told a member of staff but was told to prove it on the app. No receipts would come up even though we had already ordered a meal and drinks. She then had to go speak to someone to see if she could give them to us. We waited 40 minutes for 2 martinis. She was very rude. She should have been a lot more polite

Awful service, rude staff. No Covid -19 regulations being followed. Surrounded by intoxicated people. We were treated so awfully we didn’t even order food or drinks before leaving.

Nice food, easy to order, shame everything came together starters and mains, the bottle throwing at the bar into the bins really isn’t necessary
The food was delicious. We went with the kids on Wednesday 5pm and enjoyed the eat out to help out code, which made our meal very good value for money. We ordered drinks when we first arrived using the QR code scanner and this was easy to do. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed ourselves.

There wasn’t much measures in place for corona virus. Just some artificial cares to get by. Our table was dirty and small for dinning, food badly presented, wine glasses were dripping wet with wines in. Cutleries were just placed on our dirty table without any packaging. Poor ventilation and very loud music. I didn’t feel safe and wont go there specially during the pandemic.

Dukes is a great place to visit always friendly staff and tentative to your needs, they do really look after you at this challenging time. Everyone just needs to remember to play there part and keep your distance we all want to get back to normality
