Dylans-The Kings Arms
We are a relaxed vibrant modern British Pub Serving Food in both our bar and our restaurant.
Our A la Carte "Bill of Fayre" operates in our restaurant whilst our Snacking Menu operates in our Bar Area. We are fundamentally a pub and you are welcome to join us in our bar without booking a table although we would recommend arriving early during busy times.
Though the bar at the front was very hot as we walked through, the windows in the restaurant were open so it was a lot pleasanter a temperature at the back.
Our orders for drinks and food were taken promptly and service was well paced except for an order of chips, which was not delivered until we had finished our main course, after I had asked about them. There was no apology.
All our dishes were very good, particularly the mackerel starter which was extremely fresh and served with a delicious fennel salad.
Much too long this time, it took 1 hour to be served. We felt that there was a bit less in the plates but the food was really good. Waitresses were really kind. A bit noisy but due to a particular table only. We’ll be back anyway!
Top class food and service as always - highly recommended 👍🏻
Never disappoints. My favourite place for a Sunday Roast.
A catch up with friends on Saturday evening. Excellent food, beautifully prepared and served freshly cooked and hot. A really high level of culinary expertise in a pleasant, un-fussy setting. Beautifully presented on the plate, portions not huge, but all the better to enjoy 3 courses. Wine prices were sensible.
Even in St Albans, Dylan's cooking is exceptional. It is always a treat.
We really enjoyed our roast on Sunday. It was so delicious! We will definitely be back
Great food with friendly staff and reasonably priced. Will definitely be coming back and thank you to the staff for making my anniversary special.
Meagre portions and massively rushed out, took starter plate and exchanged for main immediately.
Great food, great service! Enjoyed our evening very much, thank you!
A lovely intimate and traditional pub. We went for Sunday lunch and the food was really good and the service was great. We will definitely be going back there again.
Lovely food, lovely place and a really good guy served us who appeared to love his job.
Very tasty food, fantastic specials. Enjoyed our meal there.
Went for Sunday lunch, was told by a member of staff only one roast beef left, my wife had this and I had two starters which were very nice, the roast beef was tough as old boots, and we asked could it be taken off the bill the waitress said she couldn't do this she could only give us staff discount off.
The chaps behind the bar are very good and drinks good.
Have visited a number of times as the food is always excellent and service very attentive. First visit for the early sitting on a Saturday night was just the same although I would say that the thumping bass music from the pub did somewhat ruin a nice family dinner as we had to shout at each other. Perhaps it could be turned down until after 8 on a weekend or a door put between the pub and the restaurant. The food was excellent - pork cheeks were the highlight of the mains and the infamous chocolate soup remains one of my all time favourites. The mains took a long time to arrive but the restaurant was full and the other courses were very quick so this wasn't a big issue. Looking forward to our next visit already.
Delicious food and a nice setting. The pub as very quiet and service could have been better.
only small comment I have is that the lighting in the restaurant is very dim, could do with being a little lighter.
Amazing food and the nicest red wine I’ve had in a long time. And catered for our 1 and 3year old brilliantly too!
Every course was absolutely delicious.
Lots of choice on the menu, plus specials, that made it very difficult to decide but we were all delighted with what we ate.
Very attentive service and reasonable prices given the quality of the food.
Will definitely be going back!
A small menu but the food we had was well presented and well cooked. The staff were friendly and helpful
The food was really lovely although my husband thought it was a limited menu. He would of liked to see steak as well. The service was really good and the girls were lovely. Would highly recommend
Fantastic seasonal food, always a delight to go to Dylans
This was our first visit to Dylans and it won't be our last. Everything was excellent, from start to finish. Excellent food (we had mainly seafood), the best we've had in St Albans for a long time, a good wine selection and friendly, efficient, non intrusive service. I can imagine it gets quite noisy when the pub and restaurant are full, but when half full, as it was for us, it was just the right side of buzzy without being annoying. Thoroughly recommended.
My friends/ colleagues recommended Dylans to me and I’m glad I took their advice as it was a lovely dining experience. Food, service and place were all top class. Would definitely return and try other dishes from the menu because I know I definitely would not be disappointed.
Excellent food and service. We stayed for a drink in the pub afterwards because it was such a good atmosphere.
Outstanding Food, Wine, Service and atmosphere as always!
Food was excellent. Unfortunately he service was abysmal. The waitresses on staff were grumpy and obviously not happy to be there. We felt like we had done something wrong! There was one waitress who was friendly. The other two, awful. We had gone for a lovely Father’s Day treat and came away wondering if we would ever go again. Such a shame as the food is some of the best around.
We were recommended Dylans by a friend who lives in St Albans (we travelled up from East London) for lunch before going to the Warner Bros studio in Watford. The food was AMAZING and the staff were lovely and smiley - 10/10 and would definitely come again next time we are up
We seemed to have a lot of different people serving our table which caused a lot of confusion with our orders. The food was OK, the beef was very rare even for those in the party that like their Beef rare. The chicken dish was dry and a bit disappointing. We all agreed that we weren't overly impressed and probably wouldn't return.
We really enjoyed our evening there. Food was really tasty, wine was good, atmosphere was great.
We will definitely be returning. A great local gastro pub!
Food was great as everyone says, but service wasn’t so much. We had to really ask over and over for more water, and for sauces when they offered them and didn’t bring them until we asked again, by which time we were half way through our mains. The staff were pleasant enough but just not very attentive or efficient.
Delicious roast beef dinner with all the trimmings. Beautifully presented, well cooked fresh veg and loved the potatoes! Bit disappointed with the yorkshire pud - a little dry - but otherwise a very nice meal. Lovely, fun waiting staff who are always ready to help.
Food was excellent and great service. I will definitely come back.
I didn’t like the fact that only a 2 or 3 course menu was an option. The prices are high, we waited for the food for long time. The vegetarian and gluten/dairy free option are very poor. Was excited to go there but won’t go back.
Another great meal at Dylan’s.... this time Tomahawk steak - served for two, enough for ten ! Great atmosphere & staff.
Fantastic food, attentive staff. Definitely worth a visit
Excellent food served in the rear section of an excellent pub. Plenty of space to relax.
The food is fantastic. We’ve been here a few times and I swear it gets better every time.
We went for the Beef Wellington special which was a real treat. Tasty and tender with a great selection on sides.
Service was good too. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Can’t really fault this place.
Will definitely be back soon.
Thanks for a great night.
Overall a good meal - had bread to start which was burnt though, which wasn't a good start.
Starters were excellent, and mains and dessert were good too.
Room was quite cold which wasn't great for my wife.
Dylan’s is lovely, been many times.
Great for a family lunch or dinner or even a date night. Bar is separate from the restaurant. Bar appears to be pet friendly few dogs were inside. Restaurant is very nice, fairy intimate not loads of tables so would recommend to book in advance. Lots of character in the decoration. Food is stunning - tastes amazing and is presented to a very high standard. Menu is creative and very flavoursome. Low music playing. Avg spend around £90 for two people with 3 courses and 2 drinks each. Parking can be difficult so arrive in advance of table time so you can find a space. Will return for sure!
This is he best place in St Albans - consistently excellent and innovative
