Dylans-The Kings Arms
We are a relaxed vibrant modern British Pub Serving Food in both our bar and our restaurant.
Our A la Carte "Bill of Fayre" operates in our restaurant whilst our Snacking Menu operates in our Bar Area. We are fundamentally a pub and you are welcome to join us in our bar without booking a table although we would recommend arriving early during busy times.
The food was really lovely although my husband thought it was a limited menu. He would of liked to see steak as well. The service was really good and the girls were lovely. Would highly recommend
Fantastic seasonal food, always a delight to go to Dylans
This was our first visit to Dylans and it won't be our last. Everything was excellent, from start to finish. Excellent food (we had mainly seafood), the best we've had in St Albans for a long time, a good wine selection and friendly, efficient, non intrusive service. I can imagine it gets quite noisy when the pub and restaurant are full, but when half full, as it was for us, it was just the right side of buzzy without being annoying. Thoroughly recommended.
My friends/ colleagues recommended Dylans to me and I’m glad I took their advice as it was a lovely dining experience. Food, service and place were all top class. Would definitely return and try other dishes from the menu because I know I definitely would not be disappointed.
Excellent food and service. We stayed for a drink in the pub afterwards because it was such a good atmosphere.
Outstanding Food, Wine, Service and atmosphere as always!
Food was excellent. Unfortunately he service was abysmal. The waitresses on staff were grumpy and obviously not happy to be there. We felt like we had done something wrong! There was one waitress who was friendly. The other two, awful. We had gone for a lovely Father’s Day treat and came away wondering if we would ever go again. Such a shame as the food is some of the best around.
We were recommended Dylans by a friend who lives in St Albans (we travelled up from East London) for lunch before going to the Warner Bros studio in Watford. The food was AMAZING and the staff were lovely and smiley - 10/10 and would definitely come again next time we are up
We seemed to have a lot of different people serving our table which caused a lot of confusion with our orders. The food was OK, the beef was very rare even for those in the party that like their Beef rare. The chicken dish was dry and a bit disappointing. We all agreed that we weren't overly impressed and probably wouldn't return.
We really enjoyed our evening there. Food was really tasty, wine was good, atmosphere was great.
We will definitely be returning. A great local gastro pub!
Food was great as everyone says, but service wasn’t so much. We had to really ask over and over for more water, and for sauces when they offered them and didn’t bring them until we asked again, by which time we were half way through our mains. The staff were pleasant enough but just not very attentive or efficient.
Delicious roast beef dinner with all the trimmings. Beautifully presented, well cooked fresh veg and loved the potatoes! Bit disappointed with the yorkshire pud - a little dry - but otherwise a very nice meal. Lovely, fun waiting staff who are always ready to help.
Food was excellent and great service. I will definitely come back.
I didn’t like the fact that only a 2 or 3 course menu was an option. The prices are high, we waited for the food for long time. The vegetarian and gluten/dairy free option are very poor. Was excited to go there but won’t go back.
Another great meal at Dylan’s.... this time Tomahawk steak - served for two, enough for ten ! Great atmosphere & staff.
Fantastic food, attentive staff. Definitely worth a visit
Excellent food served in the rear section of an excellent pub. Plenty of space to relax.
The food is fantastic. We’ve been here a few times and I swear it gets better every time.
We went for the Beef Wellington special which was a real treat. Tasty and tender with a great selection on sides.
Service was good too. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Can’t really fault this place.
Will definitely be back soon.
Thanks for a great night.
Overall a good meal - had bread to start which was burnt though, which wasn't a good start.
Starters were excellent, and mains and dessert were good too.
Room was quite cold which wasn't great for my wife.
Dylan’s is lovely, been many times.
Great for a family lunch or dinner or even a date night. Bar is separate from the restaurant. Bar appears to be pet friendly few dogs were inside. Restaurant is very nice, fairy intimate not loads of tables so would recommend to book in advance. Lots of character in the decoration. Food is stunning - tastes amazing and is presented to a very high standard. Menu is creative and very flavoursome. Low music playing. Avg spend around £90 for two people with 3 courses and 2 drinks each. Parking can be difficult so arrive in advance of table time so you can find a space. Will return for sure!
This is he best place in St Albans - consistently excellent and innovative
Wow... I’ve been here many times yet this was by far the best, the standards have improved and the food more complex and imaginative. Well done Dylan’s.
Special birthday meal for my brother, and it was pretty perfect!
The food was absolutely delicious and the portion sizes were perfect. We had such a nice meal, the staff were friendly and approachable and we would definitely visit this venue again.
Delicious meal, unhurried and enjoyable atmosphere, excellent service.
Previous 5 star reviews led us to expect a high standard. Food was only average gastropub and we felt they were trying to achieve more than they were capable of. Perhaps we were unlucky or the second team was on duty. Overall disappointing.
Amazing as always. I had a scotch egg, ox cheek, and chocolate soup, everything was wonderful.
Lovely food, best roast I’ve had in a restaurant for years. Lovely setting, really friendly staff. Only issue was one table with noisy children but that wasn’t the restaurants fault. Can’t wait to go back!
Love this place, not only for lovely food but for welcoming staffs
This is the 5th time we have eaten here and we have never had a bad meal. This lunch was no exception: delicious food in a laid back and friendly restaurant which is situated at the rear of a small bar area. The lamb scrumpet was a particular highlight off the specials menu but everything we ate was great. A good wine and beer selection too. An excellent restaurant, no wonder it's so hard to get a table in the evening!
Really good food nice people and service. Beef was expensive but really good. I would go again.
Took the dog and met a friend for lunch. Not been before and we were super surprised at the quality of food, ambiance and friendliness of staff. Normally dog pubs don't do Fab Food. We will definitely be back again, and again, and again... now to sleep it off...
3rd visit for lunch and it did not disappoint...food great and service attentive.
Superb food in a lovely setting, will definitely return.
Great meal and service
The food is always delicious and the menu well balanced in this restaurant. Thursday lunch meant that the room was a little quiet as there were only two other people eating.
My only quibble (and it is one that I would share with most English restaurants) is that bread is not on the table but has to be ordered - I forgot- which meant that the delicious sauce with the chicken livers was left uneaten.
Beautifully tasty food and very well presented. Would definitely go again. A bit expensive.
We had an amazing meal amd a lovely evening. Will be back and would definitely recommend.
Been at Dylans for drinks before and liked the atmosphere. We like the set menu as you know what price you are going to pay, however the selection of mains was very small and restrictive, however the food we had was tastey and of good quality. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive and helpful in getting the manager to move 2 very drunken diners out of the small restaurant area.
Overall we had a pleasant meal and will definitely be going back.
We have been trying to book Dylans for two years now but it has been difficult to reserve a table. However it was worth preserving as we had a delightful meal. The food, we all had ox cheek , was excellent, the service good and the restaurant had a nice ambience. The wine was a touch expensive and our guests found the background noise a bit high making conversation a bit difficult. Apart from those two points we had a great dining experience.
Really Great food, friendly service. It would be great to see some more gluten free friendly dishes on the menu though.
