East Coast Social
We went to east coast social for my sons 18th birthday. The staff were welcoming and friendly.
The food was amazing
I would definitely recommend
We waited over an hour for our meals, it got to the point where we had to ask how much longer the food would be as people were going past the point of hunger. During this time we ask multiple times for the air con to be turned down or off as it was blowing directly onto the table of which nothing was done about it. When the food did arrive the burgers were under cooked. So overall the dinning experience was very poor on this occasion.
Treated my partner to a meal using groupon. He and I had a beautiful steak dinner each and it was perfect as the hot stone allowed us to cook how we like it.
The cut of meat was scrummy and the house red wine was nice.
Lovely food . Came on a Groupon and will be returning soon
Lucky for us we arrived on their 4th birthday. What an amazing night. great fun and entertainment. late night clientele very young but music still great
The steak was incredible, served on a hot lava stone so you can cook it to your own personal preference. Everything was well seasoned too. Nice wine and chilled music playing. Would definitely return to try the rest of the menu
Not much atmosphere as it was very quiet. Burgers are good. Tempera prawns were soggy. Quite good value. Kids like it.
Food was great service ok didn't like the service charge on bill I like to tip separately
I love coming to east coast social the food was lovely the service was ok, our waitress was very shy and timid but came across as a little bit rude, but other than that loved it
East Coast Social is an absolute classic for me and my friends. The food is always brilliant and the venue is quirky and fun. Good music and drinks too :) my favourite place to go in Southend.
We arrived at the booking time of 9pm. I staff member told a waiter that we had arrived and we saw him role his eyes up and said under his breath, I thought we were finished. We proceeded to be shown up stairs to be met by another member of staff who looked surprised and disappointed to see us. I said, shall we go to my wife and was met with silence from the staff . WE LEFT.
The fillet steak had a very small amount of fat on it, which lost it a five star rating, the service was excellent, the food was very good other than that. I thought the deserts were a little bit limited and didn't find anything that I wanted to try. My wife who can be fussy, wants to go back very soon. The price seemed a bit expensive. Would I return? Based on my last visit... Yes!
Would highly recommend this restaurant. Food was lovely and we had a lovely eve
It was not our first visit and it won't be our last
I came here for my birthday, the restaurant upstairs was very quiet, the food was very good, as was the service. I'd definitely come here again
A pretty average evening in a nutshell. Nothing specific but would not rush back.
I was having a Birthday meal with my partner. We was pleased to find great service. The waitress was very polite and greeted us with a smile. She was very patient with us as it took a while to decide what we wanted to eat. The choice was very difficult, but we got there in the end. The meal was lovely, even though we was full at the end and had no room for dessert. I would definitely recommend here to my friends.
Thank you for a lovely experience.
We went for dinner on a Friday night. It was very quiet, just three tables of two, including us. The welcome at the front door was lovely, but from then on it went downhill. Service was exceptionally slow considering how quiet it was, and remained slow and unattentive for the duration. The food was a real let down. It sounded lovely on the menu, but the reality didn't match our expectations. We waited 25 minutes for out starters which is a long time in a quiet restaurant. We both opted for the steak on a hot stone. One of the steaks was almost cooked through when it arrived at the table, and we were advised it is always seared on both sides by the chef. This was most definitely more than seared. Needless to say we didnt stay for dessert. The final insult was adding optional service charge on before the total on our bill. We left it, purely for the young waitress who really tried, but unfortunately only arrived towards the end of our experience. We had such high hopes but we're left pretty disappointed.
Booked for a Friday night, the place was surprisingly quiet when we arrived, in fact we were shown to our table early, on the upper floor with a view out onto the road, most pleasant on a warm summer's evening. Nice relaxed atmosphere, friendly and helpful Waitresses, food most palatable. We had the ribeyes, served on a piece of hot rock, a very good way of ensuring the steaks being cooked to how one requires it. Live music kicked in halfway through our meal, on the groundfloor so most welcome but not intrusive . Described to us as more of a "younger persons" establishment, we felt very comfortable and welcomed, the menu is not extensive ( not necessarily a bad thing at all) but has some very nice sounding dishes and we will certainly be returning. Based on our experience, very much recommended.
Had groupon voucher brought for a birthday present. Waitress was lovely very competent and helpful as it was our first visit. Food was really nice a bit different so made a nice change. Would definitely recommend and would come again and bring friends
My friends and I went to East Coast for the bottomless brunch on a Sunday, we found the offer to be really good value - the food was tasty and there was a lot of choice. We were able to switch between the drinks on offer and never had an empty glass!
Will be going again and would recommend to others
We waited an hour and a half for our main meals which were only burgers hotdogs and chips...the starter took 45 minutes garlic bread.....asked three times to be told they are very busy which it was but make sure you have the staff to accommodate busy times .....we went there last year for the same person's birthday not a problem then ...we won't be going back next year totally unacceptable by the time the food arrived we had got over the hungry stage.
Friendly girls serving meals
Would definitely use again when in Southend
Service was insultingly slow. It seemed deliberate to be honest. Food luke-warm on arrival. The young woman was pleasant. The man was rude.
Slow service and nothing done additional even though we told the restaurant it was a 25th birthday celebration. Food was tasty when it did come out.
We pre booked the roast pork. From previous experience and the fact it was pre booked we thought we would have a lovely meal. However, when it arrived the vegetables were hard and cold.. they had to be sent back. The Yorkshire puddings were hard/chewy like they'd been frozen too long. We had to ask for the gravy which eventually arrived 5 mins after the rest of the food.
After all of this we would expect a waitress to check everything wasn't ok... not one came over to the table. Even when they came to take the plates they didn't ask how it had been. The staff actually came accriss as rude and like they couldn't be bothered. We were extremely dissapointed in the whole experience.
Great food great music
When we got to the restaurant we went to the bar and were shown upstairs to the seating area. We were immediately sat at a table by the toilets, though the restaurant was empty. My partner spent the evening looking between me, the wall and the bathroom doors. Not pleasant.
We ordered drinks and then had to call over one of the 4 waitresses standing by their till talking to take our order.
Our food was brought out, my steak did not come with a steak knife which again, we had to ask for. It was almost as blunt as the normal knife.
We ate, we paid and the service between our food being delivered and us leaving was lovely. The food was okay. As we were leaving we said thank you to a member of staff standing at the till and she didn't even acknowledge us.
Overall, I'd rather have gone to a pub for dinner. I will not be returning or recommending this restaurant to anyone.
Was looking forward to meal with my hubby as we don't go out much !
So I thought for a treat I would book a table as I had good reviews ... how wrong I was !!!!!
unfortunately our starters was cold , main meal was enjoyable, I had a dessert which was cold!!!!
I mention to the gentleman that took our payment but he didn't even knowledge it !!! Not even a SORRY !!!!! So disappointed!!!!
Great setup, very relaxing, polite and courteous staff. Not rushed, able to enjoy at our own pace. The steaks were amazing, definitely recommend and I'll be returning again soon
Was a lovely experience, definitely recommend this to friends.
Went for the first time in November on a Saturday and food was outstanding and service was 5 star. 2nd time round on a Sunday in December and upstairs dining was closed so had to sit on uncomfortable chairs and a table which was up to my chest. I'm 6ft 5..so it was basically up to my girlfriends neck too. Service was rushed. Didn't get asked what type of fries we wanted. I know we could of asked ourselves but I didn't feel the need to after our great meal and service from the first visit. Food portions were noticeably smaller. Less fillings and tasted plain. We both got the same main as we did on our first visit. Both disappointed. Don't know if there's a different chef or a Sunday service is different. Will be returning one more time to see if anything changes but if not then will not be returning after that.
Sat by the front window, which was a bit draughty. Then had to approach the wait staff for a drink... and again for the food. The food was great but one of our party's orders was forgotten and they had to wait for it to be cooked. Our wait staff didn't know the soup of the day or the cheesecake of the day, which was a bit poor.
Even when it came to the bill, we waited for over 20 minutes for someone to come and take the card payments, after we approached the bar.
The food is tasty but the service leaves a little to be desired.. it was the same the last time we went too but was hoping it would've improved.
Great night with friends. Beautifully decorated for Xmas, booking easy, food great, 241 cocktails were fabulous, great live music then Dj. Staff friendly and catered for a different dietary request.
Overall a really good night, will definitely go back and recommend to friends.
Food was good, took a while to get there and we were the only diners. My beer glass came with old lipstick marks on it and was not apologetic or shocked. Nice decor.
The 4 of us had a great time in East Coast Social. Excellent food, great ambience!
There was a varied selection on the menu, alos catering for vegetarians and the food tasted good. The decor was very modern and we could hear the music from the dj on the ground floor. The cocktails were great, we tried a variety of them. I would recommend this place to friends dining out, and couples. We went on a Saturday night.
Food and service were great, but the music was too loud for us. Allegedly fine during the week but Friday and Saturday are party nights, and the loud conversations trying to fight the music were too much for us.
Maybe I'm getting old.
Dining is upstairs, with general area down.
Very over priced food with not much variety to offer. The service was very good and the 2 for 1 cocktails were delicious. There was a great atmosphere and music during the night too. Will return however only for cocktails.
Absolute let down
They turned us away and wouldn't serve us!
This was a gift voucher via Groupon. We had phoned to make the booking and was then sent a confirmation email.
When we turned up, the place was dead, apart from another couple! We told them we had booked and name and time, was told, oh sit anywhere.
Menus brought over and we told them we had a voucher. We presented it to the server, to be told, no you can't done here in a Sunday. I told them we had made booking by telephone of which the knew it was Groupon. He then said I'll have to have word with my manager. To which he matched back and said no he won't serve you you'll have to come back on another day!!!!! I said the voucher expires in three days, to which he replied you'll have to come back before that then!!
Rude! I told them you had booked it and no mention on the voucher or from phone call that Sunday was not allowed. Still told No! So we got up and left rather annoyed and embarrassed. We had paid for transport to and from venue as we live 20 miles away and also had paid babysitter.
Still waiting for the Manager called Martin to call me with an explanation and an apology and some sort of goodwill gesture/compensation. Now 48 hours and no phone call!
Seems that it's a couldn't careless attitude of which they proceeded to blame Groupon and Groupon states they had not given any indication that the voucher couldn't be used on s Sunday. No small print!!
Out of pocket for the voucher too. As this was present for a late birthday
