Excellent service, food, & ambience for outdoor dining.

This place is doing an AMAZING job keeping things clean and safe during a pandemic. Their food is, as always, absolutely outstanding and the staff are friendly, gracious, and thorough. My partner and I had an delectable dinner out for my birthday -- the best Moussaka ever -- and a fantastic dish of lamb. Every meal we've ever had there is stellar. Please do whatever you can to support them -- whether take out or in-person outdoor dining. They are an absolute gem.

Waited over an hour before we had to find our server and ask to order our entree. We were seated outside next to a storm drain which smelled of sewage for the entire meal. The table was so dark we couldnt read the menu without using our phone lights. The server came to our table a grand total of 3 times. And two of those times was only after we went to the front desk to ask to order and to ask for our check

Effie’s was great! The little courtyard patio in the back was small but cozy, and the food was phenomenal! Hostess and waiter were so friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!

Round table outside was great for 6 talking. Food was excellent, especially the zucchini chips. Nice evening with a nice waiter.

Majestic little patio, delicious food, and it’s BYOB. Something to note , there is no alcohol at all to buy so if you plan on drinking your just bring your own.

I worked in Mykonos Greece for 17 years- this is authentic, large portion , Wonderful Greek food! Everything we tried was fresh, and delicious. Only complaint, was the baklava was ice cold- good, but cold! I’ve celebrated many a Birthday there- SO glad they made it thru the shutdown! Love this BYOB~
PS: They have a lovely Garden area, as well as side street seating!

We love this place. I've probably been there 3 or 4 times and my wife 5-10 times. It's small, but not too small; fresh and healthy (or not as healthy, depending on your mood/selection); and each plate looks and tastes like it was individually prepared with care. The service is good and the staff is friendly/flexible. We just celebrated our anniversary there last weekend and had another great meal. If we lived in the city or didn't have kids we'd eat there two or three times as often!

Dinner was delicious, the service was excellent, and the outdoor seating is perfect for a night out during COVID.
Give this neighborhood gem a try!

Just went to Greece last year and this place was great. Quiet but authentic Greek.

Lovely setting and amazing food at a fair price. My wife and I enjoyed enjoyed our time eating the garden without feeling rushed. Everything was great.

Effie's has a great outdoor setup in their alley. Make sure to get the spanakopita and dolmades. Their fresh pita is delicious and we loved the mussels with lemon feta broth!

My sister and I went here for a fun little night out. I've been wanting to try Effies since I moved to Philly, and it's outdoor setting looked safe and cute. Although there was only one server for all the tables, we had amazing service. She was quick, kind and the perfect amount of attentive. We loved our food and enjoyed eating in the cute little back patio.

Great food and great service. It was a beautiful Friday evening to dine outdoors at Effies and the food was fresh and delicious. We’ll definitely be back.

Over priced, quality and quantify of the food was lacking, food seem rushed. The location and environment is nice; at times it seems overwhelming for one person to run the restaurant.

Honestly, I hoped it would be so much more than what it was. The outdoor seating area is adorable, tucked away down a quiet ally, away from the busy streets.

The service left a lot more to be desired - not very friendly, took a very long time to place our initial order.

The food:

Appetizer - fried calamari - when hot, tasted ok but once it started to cool the calamari was quite chewy.

Olives - soggy, old and just no.


I ordered the shrimp entree - it only had 4 small shrimp. Tasted fine but not worth the money.

My boyfriend ordered fried flounder - his plate was sad with flavorless flounder, steamed asparagus and WHITE plain rice?

We won’t be back unless something really changes.

Always a great experience even in a pandemic. Food was wonderful and service was great!

I’ve been to Effie’s so many times and this time I was disappointed in my meal and that never happens there. I’m going to chalk it up to getting back into the swing of things. They also took my favorite dish off the menu. But our server Ellie was great as always.

Authentic greek cuisine, with a nice assortment of flavors. The baklava was incredible.

Overall, we were not very happy with our experience. The service was not very friendly and the food was average for the price. We loved the ambiance and the fact that the outdoor seating arrangement was nicely spaced out so we felt comfortable. The restaurant has potential to be a lot better and servers can be a lot friendlier!

Went to Philadelphia to visit. My family and I felt like the food was rushed and the ambience was tense for us. Utensils looked like they had dust and service was okay.
