El Born in Brooklyn, New York has a number of different menus, all of which are influenced by Barcelona. The name itself comes from the El Born district of this famous city, where ancient alleyways feature the latest fashions and nightlife venues. Here in Brooklyn, El Born serves up new twists on Spanish favorites.
Terrible food. Just awful.
Really delicious food and the place is so beautiful and sexy!
You should be on Resy!
One of my new favorite restaurants! I love Spanish tapas, everything here is soooo good especially the Brussels sprouts and Croquetas. It’s pretty loud generally but a great place to get drinks and share really delicious bites with friends.
Good place and value. Meatball not great. Didn't eat it - still got charged.
Creatively designed tapas from classic to adventurous were all delicious, wine selection excellent, plus attentive service from all staff. What's not to love?!
Fun spot to get the night started.
10/10 recommend. Very nice crowd.
I've been to El Born many times and have always been impressed. The servers are helpful and the tapas are delicious. They are also some of the best portion sizes I've seen for the price. I was a big fan of the chorizo, brussels sprouts and the patatas bravas (they live up to the hype!) The cocktails were also well balanced. I had two pina bonitas and they were perfect in terms of booze level and flavor. This place rules! Apparently they also have a $15 AYCE tapas deal on Tuesdays and Thursday is 2-for-1 gin and tonic night (their house specialty!)
Last minute reservation because we were in the area. Food was excellent. Service was great. Enjoyed the Tapas concept. It was really good value. Location was perfect and the vibe was nice. We would certainly return and recommend it to others.
We must have ordered 8 or 9 different dishes between the 3 of us, plus at least one cocktail per person, and the bill came out to less than $60/head (including tip!) What a deal! The food was SO YUMMY- I'd recommend the filet mignon carpaccio and potatoes brava though everything was great, and the service was lovely and fast. I will be back!
Have been to El Born a few times. Their lunch seems to be better than their dinner. None of the food impressed me. Service was great though.
Food and service excellent. It is authentic Catalan cuisine. Great brunch value.
Best Spanish restaurant in the US
My husband and I ate here for the first time for our anniversary. The food was incredible and the service was wonderful! We will most definitely be coming back!
Innovative Spanish (Catalan) tapas and paella at this local neighborhood restaurant. Among three of us out for a business dinner - Had several tapas - boquerones, ham croquetas, pan tumaca, mushrooms and, paella special for two which included a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. Paella was made with black arborio rice. Desserts were excellent - Crema Catalana, Tres Leches, Chocolate Lava & Ice cream.
Very reasonably priced for quality and innovative dishes.
Great food, great drinks, great atmosphere, and great service. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying brunch next time.
Came for Sunday brunch on my birthday, will definitely return again! Great price, the 4 tapas and 2 entrees brunch is the perfect amount for 4 people. Love it here, wished we could have sat outside but the inside is nice as well and cutely decorated
We brought our vegetarian niece here since there were plenty of choices for her but more than enough choices for us. We were in the neighborhood because we went to see Beyond the Streets exhibit nearby. Our waitress was very helpful and the food was both delicious and reasonably priced.
Love the food!!!!
The food, drinks, and vibe at this place are very good. Worth traveling to Greenpoint for! However, I made a reservation for 5 people, and they tried to tell us that a standard 4 person table was actually a table for 5. They had 3 settings against the bench. Now, we're all relatively small people, but we could not fit. So when we grabbed a nearby table to offer our 5th diner an actual seat and place setting, we were reprimanded. Finally, they agreed to bring an extra chair over for our 5th diner to eat at the head of the table, however this was very clearly not their intention. So just for the future - a reservation for 5 should actually be able to seat 5 grown adults comfortably.
The male server was very stressful and pushy and appeared irritated, but other times I have been at El Born servers been nice and service minded.
The service was a little slow and a little confused, but friendly and helpful. The food was seriously excellent. Highly recommend that Chef’s menu option for value and variety.
Delicious Tapas, wait staff was fast & friendly. I would certainly recommend, however for smaller parties as it's a smaller venue. Also some communal seating, which can be hit or miss.
Great food and ambiance. The service was good. A nice place for a special occasion. Would go back for happy hour or tapas Tuesday.
One of my favorite spots in Greenpoint. Delicious food, well priced, really fun experience for groups, and the service is always great!
Had a whole bunch of tapas and all of them were excellent! Nice place and great service. Gracias!
Went for a Saturday brunch (bottomless of course) and it was a great time! The value of the meal I could not believe. We were three people and we got to split the 4 tapas, tray of paella, and dessert. The drinks were delicious and the perfect complement to the meal. I don't even live in Greenpoint but I will be visiting this place as often as I can. Can't wait to try the other paella's on the menu!
Food was really good. Definitely coming back for the rest of the tapas. Enjoyed the vibe a lot.
Had an amazing time! Amazing food, drinks, and atmosphere. Can’t wait to go back!
Great service, delicious food and overall sub a nice place to spend the night. Best part that it’s a block from the subway!
We went to El Born for the Wednesday paella night and it was absolutely delicious! The deal is impossible to beat ($49 for paella for two + a bottle of wine), and the food is excellent. We added an appetizer as well, the brussels sprouts. Their selection of regional cured meats is awesome. At times, we felt a little rushed with the service, but overall the waiter was attentive and helpful. We will come back to try different appetizers and because the food is delicious!
It's become our favorite restaurant in Brooklyn. Always reminds us of the wonderful meals we had in the El Born district in Barcelona. And great cocktails.
El born was okay food wise...didn't blow my socks off. Service was really lovely and very easy going relaxing atmosphere. Price point for the food is just a little high for me and that is why I'm less likely to return
Went with my girlfriend on a Saturday night. The food was very good but there were just too many problems with the service for us to overlook. Waiter did not bring water or ask us even once during the meal if we needed anything (which we did). Also one of our plates was forgotten and then basically at the point in the meal where you would be asking for the check the waiter finally realized and brought out the plate without asking if we still wanted it. Unfortunate really, because the food was good, but these annoyances really can change your whole experience when dining out.
Delightful evening. All was delicious, except for the sardines. As other reviewers have mentioned foul smelling and tasting. The six other tapa plates were very good. We didn't want to order the paella in fear of more of that fishy scent. Worth a try, just skip the fish!
Todo muy rico. La paella deliciosa
Amazing brunch experience
Great food and value but WAY too loud. Found it very difficult to have a conversation without shouting.
The food was incredible (as always) and the staff really took care of our group. Thank you!
