El Centro D.F. - Georgetown
Reaching back to his roots, internationally acclaimed Chef Richard Sandoval created El Centro DF to introduce Washington DC to signature authentic Mexican flavors and traditional dishes that he grew up enjoying. The dynamic two-story restaurant in Georgetown, with a back patio, is also home to over 300 tequilas, mezcals alongside craft Mexican-inspired drinks.
Broken table, VERY loud, drunk people making a scene, and very poor service from our waiter and the kitchen was clearly not communicating with front of house because our appetizer was brought out AFTER our entrees. I usually go to the location on 14th and it’s been great. Gonna avoid the Georgetown location from now on.
I will start by saying our area has been experiencing a heat wave so when we arrived at El Centro, we wanted to have a drink before dinner so we went upstairs to the bar. It was very warm back at the bar area. Almost stuffy. But we acclimated and the drinks were fine. My husband and daughter both got the Chicken Fajitas and said they were great! I, however, ordered the Shrimp Diablo. It's not that it was bad, it was just really different and I would not order again. The chips and salsa were excellent! I would go back again but order something different.
Great food, great service, and great value.
I have been here numerous times and I enjoy my brunch and I always make reservations. However, I always have to wait around for 20-30+ to get seated. It's crazy because it seems like they take more reservations than they can hold. Once my group was seated the service was good I had a great time. Food was also good. They have new menu's but they weren't accurate for what contains gluten and what doesn't.
Horrible service. The worst service I have had in years.
Everything was great!
What happened!? This place was outstanding when it first opened then took a nose dive apparently. They were out of shrimp and the fajitas were cold. How can fajitas be cold?
Amazing food and service! Sitting upstairs on a sunny day is just the perfect way to enjoy brunch!
Great service. Great food. Love the steak quesadilla.
Overall, underwhelming experience and disappointing. The vibe is fun for just drinks but the food is consistently mediocre.
Love this place. Come here every time I’m in town. Brunch is always fun and the food even better
Delicious, delightful experience! I can’t wait to visit again soon :)
We had brunch with seven of us and four kids under four on Saturday for my sons third birthday. Everyone was so nice and accommodating for us and the service was excellent! Loved the option to do bottomless brunch with kids and order lots of fruit and quesadilla and tacos and food they loved!
We ordered an appetizer and fajitas to split and the appetizer came out almost immediately but we didn't receive the fajitas until an hour and a half later and that was after asking where they were. Our server told us it was a computer glitch but after the food was dropped off we had to waive him down to get any sort of service including getting another drink. When the food finally came it was pretty flavorless. I will not being going back.
Outrageously loud. I could not hear the person talking across from me. The dishes were just average and loaded with unnecessary fat to make them taste palatable. Great guacamole and chips. Perhaps next time I’ll go when it’s quiet and just do drinks and chips.
despite a very quiet afternoon, the service was slow, the plates and silverware were dirty and the restaurant smelled like stale beer and booze. I felt like we needed a shower after we left
The restaurant was dirty and the food overpriced
The menu change for this brunch has changed, and not in a good way! They increased the price (to nearly $40!) but seemed to decrease the menu? For example guac is no longer included as a bottomless food option, and the overall quality of the food was meh at best. The drinks did not taste good and were obviously watered down as well. I realize that with a bottomless food and drink brunch place things obviously aren't going to be top quality, but this used to be my go-to bottomless spot if I felt like treating myself. Now, with these changes, I'm not sure I'll be going back, which makes me sad!
The service was terrible. We did not get seated until 25 minutes after our reservation time and did not get water or chips for another 15 minutes after we sat down. The waitress also spilled water on my friends phone twice. The food was great, but not worth the price given the service
I would recommend this place all year around!! Food is so good and kid friendly.
We've been to El Centro D.F. for bottomless brunch a few times and always had a good experience! This time, drink service was slow (maybe got 4 drinks over 2 hours, and had to flag the server down each time to do so) and food was very delayed coming out or missing. Experience was fine, but will probably look elsewhere next time.
Wasn’t blown away by the food but nothing was terrible. Margarita was too sweet and didn’t taste natural... not a ton of vegetarian options. The tamale was too sweet to eat the whole thing. We were seated quickly despite not having a reservation.
Staff was wonderful and food was fresh and delicious.
Waiter was very rude. Hispanic guy with a bandana around his arm. I don’t recall his name. He had he was going to take my ID to the back and scan it because it didn’t look like me. Then when ordering the drinks he said guys I’m giving you back the IDs and he didn’t take them to the back. Like was he trying to scare me? I told him It doesn’t look like me? He said no not at all. And I was like he take it go do what you have to do and he said no it’s ok. I never had a person in all my life say I’m taking your ID to the back to scan it. Poor customer service from the guy. So after we just walked out.
Haven't been to El Centro for some time - our group (10 people) all did bottomless brunch on Cinco de Mayo - they did insist on the 2-hour limit, which we completely understood because of the holiday. All the food was spectacular and kept coming, and coming, and coming! Our waiter Alberto was a rockstar, memorizing everyone's orders and remained attentive the entire time. The seafood enchilada is wildly underrated, and the churros are the perfect ending. They even handed out little maracas to celebrate the holiday! One small note - their prices seemed to have raised for bottomless food/drink from $35 to $39. Well worth it still in my opinion, but good to know going in. I like the service here significantly better than the 14th street location. All in all, a great experience!
I've eaten at El Centro in the past and thoroughly enjoyed it. However, in the two hours that my group was seated yesterday, we were only served one round of drinks. The food was great and our server was fantastic, but overall it was definitely not worth the price of unlimited food/drinks for what we were served.
Overall, this was a poor experience. This is my second time visiting El Centro and I have been disappointed on both occasions (at the 14th street location and Georgetown location). Brunch was terrible. The food was not good and the mimosas were mostly orange juice. The margaritas were decent, at best. Waiters appeared lost and we received late food and food that did not belong to us, throughout our visit. I will not return and will not recommend this to anyone.
Hostess stand had mediocre greeting/service to start. The restaurant had plenty of tables for my party of 3 but they said without a reservation there’s only bar seating. So I made a reservation on the spot on OpenTable. Our server was great! And the kitchen staff too. They were able to accommodate my gluten allergy. Manager came around and that was nice.
Great food and service! All you can eat/drink is always fun! They kept the drinks coming! :)
Food was great but my waiter ruined the brunch due to his horrible attitude. Reluctant to bring drinks and barely checked in on our table.
Their brunch offering is awesome and totally worth every penny; if not only for the brunch cocktails!
Delicious food, nice environment.
The service was really bad. It took a long time to get your drinks or the server would forget to put the drink orders in which really slows down the unlimited drink special. The drinks were also all very weak. They’re unlimited because they have no alcohol in them. The food was okay it came out a lot quicker than you’d expect but the food wasn’t anything special. The tacos were not good we tried a few different types and I was unimpressed.
El Centro used to be great, now there is dripping water from the ceiling. The food was disgusting and service was passive aggressive. Sad to see what’s happened to this place.
Amazing brunch!! Tacos were on point- chicken tinga was nice and spicy, steak was tender, chorizo was delicious. Empanadas were awesome, and the churro to top it all off was perfect. Drinks were great too, and you can't beat the price! Will definitely go back when I'm in the area
The wait was pretty long for a reservation (20-30 min) but once we were seated the service was pretty good and the food was great!
The service was terrible. Our server forgot to put in our order 3 times. Took the fun out of the brunch experience
Great server. We had to leave and cancel our bottomless brunch...took 30 minutes to get our first drink, one of which had a plastic wrapper in. I think it may have been too busy but very bad brunch experience for all of us.
Food and drinks were good but they can be better with the service. Service was really slow
