El Compadre - Hollywood
We specialize in showcasing "The fine foods of Mexico". We serve family recipes handed down over generations using select cuts of meats, and choice seafood alongside season fresh vegetables. e have a dedicated full bar area where we serve mixed cocktails, imported and domestic beers and our legendary and famous "Flaming Margarita". Coupled with live nightly music from a trio singing Mexican classics and with a dimly lit, sultry lighting; our romantic ambiance is unmatched.
A perfect night at El Compadre celebrating my mom’s birthday. Great food, amazing service. All around wonderful experience. Thank you!
The host was extremely rude upon our arrival. I made a reservation for 10 people at 8 PM for my partners surprise birthday dinner. When I came and mentioned my name she said she couldn’t find any record of it, even though I called earlier in the day to confirm. Mind you, people in my party were ALREADY SEATED!
Her incompetency and attitude initially ruined our experience.
We go to El Compadre at least 2 to 3 times a month and never have experienced such attitude. The normal host we see every other time we go is wonderful and she knows us by name, so we were surprised to be treated so rudely and condescendingly.
We will of course be back because nothing is better than El Compadre and their Cadillac Margaritas. I just hope we never have to encounter this host again in the future.
Everything was good but we waited 30 min for our table when we had a reservation, NOT OK!
Birthday fun! Food is always fabulous!! Great ambience.
Love the food and the flaming margaritas. The mariachi group adds to the ambiance and charm of the evening. Colorful and entertaining to see the people of Hollywood dining in this iconic restaurant, on top of everything else!
I went to El Compadre for my birthday and had a great time. I had a group of 13, and the servers were very attentive to my party. They made sure we had everything we needed, and they came out to sing Happy Birthday with/to me! The food was delicious. My reservation was at 845 and we had to wait longer than I anticipated for our table to be ready. But other than that, it was a great experience.
Bartenders more interested in chatting socially with other staff. I waited over five minutes while he chatted away (I kept track after a few minutes). I finally interrupted to ask if I could get a check and he put up his hand palm out like I was being rude. Then he didn't get it to me. I had to get another staff person to get the check for me. Not a good way to start the evening at what was a fine restaurant.
The food was pretty good the special chef is bomb but I think they need to work on the menu they need to put kids menu and they need to work on the drinks I order a coke and it’s was like half of the cup I think they use can sodas and they need to put on the menu more drinks like micheladas , more options off sodas the food it’s pretty good .
Pretty good food, terrible service. Our waiter never checked in on us after bringing out our food and took almost 45 minutes to bring us our check. Not to mention the passiveness of the hostess - I had a reservation and she sat a walk-in couple before my party of 3 before us.
As always great food and great fun
The musicians were loud and off key making conversation almost impossible. The special margaritas were their usual best and the food is pretty good especially the chile relllenos and request for pico de gallo took four asks.
Service is kind of rude - probably will not come back for special occasions.
It was our first night in LA plus we were meeting up with old friends plus one member of our group was going to be celebrating a birthday on our trip who had never been to LA - so this was the perfect place to start our trip ! It’s up its fun staff are amazing ! Food is simple and they are very generous with the portions !!
I’d definitely recommend this place for someone looking for an up atmosphere with great margarita’s
My friend’s birthday
Food was great but had to wait 45 min for our table even with a reservation. The service was pretty slow and it was really busy. Would recommend trying for a weeknight versus weekend for a better time. Food and drinks were tasty and staff did the best they could with the craziness they were dealing with!
My favorite spot in the hollywood area. The staff is always so sweet! Especially the host that was duty Saturday night. She was so kind!
Service has gone Downhill!
The fajitas shoild be ser
Busy place, service not that great. Food is good, drinks awesome. Place small for the amount of people that attends.
Best margaritas and food in LA
El compadre serves as the bench mark for Mexican food in Los Angeles. I have had most every dish on the menu and have never been disappointed by the quality or authenticity. It’s been my go to for well over a decade and I have yet to find a sit down that rivals it.
They don’t even deserve one star! Worst meal ever!!! My father, my niece and I both got a meat dish and it was inedible!!!! Both the beef and chicken were tough and gristly. My niece and I both did not touch It and when I mentioned it to the waiter he grinned like an idiot. It was so expensive for the quality. We’re never going back. No wonder the place was completely empty
The food and margaritas are excellent and the service was very good too. This was my third time at the restaurant and I was surprised at how noisy it was. We were a party of four in a booth and it was very difficult to have a conversation. Something really should be done about the noise level.
A great atmosphere awaits behind the big door. Fun, good food, a great experience of a classic LA restaurant-clearly a local favorite too!
Old school classic place, love it.
Very dark inside. Staff was pleasant, margaritas were excellent and plenty of great food which was very filling!
Celebrating a summer Friday!
Father’s Day. Food was just ok. The waiter (Daniel) seemed like he was new - the food took a long time to get out to us and we had to ask the busser for everything because our waiter hardly ever came around.
Never disappointed when we head to El Compadre. The food and service is always consistent.
It was my first time here and had an amazing time here. Celebrated my moms birthday and they were very very accommodating with all my requests with no issues!! Our waiter was AMAZING! They let us bring in an outside cake for FREE! Amazing customer service and just went above and beyond. If you plan to have a birthday dinner here don’t think twice! Loved it! We will definitely be back!
I like this place
However, it was very disappointing that during my birthday celebration last Thursday nobody even offer some discount or free drink, or anything of that sort
Food was great! I had a Cadillac margarita and two crispy chicken tacos. Best I have had in a long time!
Really great. Our Waiter was always ready to help.
Birthday party. Took forever to seat us. Reservation was for 7:15pm. We didn’t sit til 8pm. The server messed up on a lot of our drinks, but we wanted to party so stopped caring about the wrong drink orders. Overall, I had fun.
Never disappoints. Always jammed but the staff is always super friendly and the food - and flaming margaritas - delicious. And fast. So lucky it's a quick walk away.
Terrible service. We waited at least 15 mins after being sat to see a server and then another 10 mins to ever get waters. The whole dinner went in this fashion and we even considered leaving without eating our dinner it was so bad. Worst experience we’ve ever had here.
Booked a table to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with flaming margaritas. Really enjoyed the vibe, food and especially the company. We decided to order a few things off the menu (specialties of the house) to share family style. We were not disappointed. Really enjoyed our meal here and would absolutely recommend this to a friend.
It was good but the photo guy was a bit relentless. He made us take so many photos that our food got cold.
