Final meal at Emile's before he shut his doors for good! Devastating loss to Putney eateries.
First Visit after many years of consideration. Our joint retirement celebration meal as a treat for ourselves. Felt very relaxing and comfortable even if not the most luxurious establishment around. Very busy but the food was wonderful and we both enjoyed ourselves in an establishment which feels quite individual and genuinely local. Would definitely recommend but no point as restaurant closes down today (28/7/2017) as one of the owners is retiring himself. Probably explains the high number of diners taking their last opportunity to eat there. I am sure it will be missed.
I am so sad this delightful little restaurant is closing. It has long held the standard for me of high quality food at a very reasonable price. The wine list is magnificent too. The staff are exceptionally friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming. I, along with Putney's restaurant scene will miss Emil and his team. Thank you for the wonderful meals and memories.
After many attempts to try out Emiles we finally made it. I can only echo everything positive that has been previously said. Emile is lovely, warm and welcoming. The food is plate licking good. Wine is resonably priced. I will be going back as frequently as I possible can! Absolutely love it! What a gem.
Lovely meal.... Emile's will be very hard to replace. Go while you can!
Excellent food and service for a very reasonable price
Lovely local restaurant. Great food and service.
Many mention the lack of attention to the surroundings and that's the first thing that strikes you, it's basic with a few frills to try and hide it.
The food was OK, but under seasoned and often confused and trying to hard - popcorn with roast guinea fowl?
It's hidden, but not a gem.
Unpretentious tasty French themed food, nice staff, relaxed atmosphere
Another absolutely beautiful meal at Emiles. As usual a friendly and warm welcome, excellent service and menu advice, divine food, and relaxing ambiance.
I would recommend this restaurant to absolutely everyone, we've eaten here a number of times and its well worth the hours journey. You enter on your first time as a stranger and leave as a friend already looking forwards to your next visit. A thorough 10/10
Having recently discovered this local restaurant, we have visited four times in as many months and find it consistently attractive and welcoming. Cooking can vary from occasionally disappointing and over complicated to outstanding. Their policy of constantly changing menus (apart from two renowned favourites) is a bit irritating as one hurries back to enjoy a dish only to find it gone. Apart from that, highly recommended.
First time and it was great. Lovely little black board as a menu and the owners serving. We will be back!
I have been going to Emile's since the early eighties and it does not disappoint. Emile is a wonderful host making everyone very welcome. My favourite restaurant in Putney.
have been twice now, always ordered the famous beef wellington, although the size has gone smaller since I had it 4 years ago :p One of my favourite restaurants in London, love the clean and bright deco, the wine list was brilliant! food is fresh and delicious, waiters are soooo nice!!
Emile's is a popular and intimate local restaurant, serving great food at reasonable prices. Attentive service with a good atmosphere. A form favourite.
Very enjoyable evening. Food was generally excellent. Set menu with reasonable selection of choices. Our table was a little cramped for 5 people.
Getting over the fact that Emile's looks like a converted front room, the venue lets the food do the talking! Ever changing menu, with seasonality at the forefront, the menu has a wide selection of dishes to tempt everyone, your only issue will be having to choose! All the food was perfectly cooked, delicious and pretty good value at £35 for three courses. Nice wine list with affordable options, unusual for the area, and very balanced across new and old world. Well worth a visit, and don't be put off by the unassuming outside!
Brilliant restaurant with wonderful food & service- loved it!!
Our 2nd visit to Emiles and once again the food and service was very good. It lacks ambience but is an excellent local restaurant in Putney.
Excellent as always. Beautiful menu - the hake and prawns was so delicious. Menu changes each month and is a delight. Good wine list and reasonably priced. Staff attentive and knowledgeable - proprietor goes out of his way to make you enjoy the evening!
Emile's is a place we always go back to, a great restaurant that offers great food and the service is also first class. Never disappointed ... we use it for special occasions. Always best to book a table .
About as perfect a local restaurant as anyone could want. A menu which is bursting with more dishes than is polite to want to eat in one meal, a wine list that is as rich as it is unpretentiously priced, and based on how they treat my coeliac wife, service levels that are worthy of a Michelin star. We will be back and the sooner the better.
Have lived in Putney for 9 months and wouldn't have known about this place were it not for coming across it on OpenTable. What a hidden gem! My new local favourite. The service was wonderful, food delicious (hard to choose - so many tasty options!) and we were given a great wine recommendation. Notable dishes were the cheese souffle, monkfish starter, beef wellington and duck sausages. We were still talking about it the next day and can't wait to go back!
Lovely food, great service. Superb value, as usual.
Emile always makes the effort to say hello, and they really took effort in accommodating my request of a table for my mother who recently had an operation. This is very much a friendly neighbourhood restaurant but dont let that keep you away if it's your first time or not a local. Menu is great and everything we ordered was fabulous. The only slight negative for me is that the vibe is quite low key, it's quite quiet, which for most guests is what they're looking for. My family are loud though so I normally go somewhere with a bit more background music, although we felt very comfortable
We celebrated my boyfriend's 30th at this place and the service was lovely. The beef wellington and crab bisque was the best I've ever had. Lovely spot off the main high street. Would definitely be back!
We went for Mother's Day, the food and service was excellent. Very good wines at reasonable prices
Strongly recommend this place
Emile and his team were fantastic! A great experience with great food, will return. Thank you Emile
Second visit having only discovered recently and what a gem - Emile is still there after more than two decades which is a huge accolade - proper restaurant!
Brilliant high quality fine dining. Hidden away ,but well worth seeking out.
Absolutely fantastic - returned after a break of a few years and just as good (if not better) than we remembered. So much thought has clearly gone into every single dish.
A true Putney gem. Tucked away in a quiet street, this authentic place is for the affluent public who appreciate a good continental menu and vibe. Highly recommended.
We had a very good experience maybe because they do not let
the kichen get over whelmed. They are not trying to sqeeze two
sittings into an evening , service could not be faulted,
Great evening with wonderful food as usual. Reverted to my old favourite of beef wellington and it is still super.
This restaurant is fantastic. The staff are friendly and welcoming and help to set a lovely environment in which to relax and enjoy and evening out. The food is absolutely delicious and incredible value. There is all also a good and reasonably priced wine list. I would highly recommend Emile's.
A most enjoyable meal ,Emile was very good with his welcome and banter.
Look forward to our return.
Another excellent evening at Emiles, celebrating my birthday with my wife and step-daughtes. Food and wines, as usual, first class. And we had the chance for a chat with the man himself - always welcoming and friendly.
Great great great. Old school French restaurant. Not pretentious, just super food and service.
Excellent food, service and value as always. Hugely hospitable local restaurant, have been going for years. Swordfish in filo pastry starter was particularly good.
Food was outstanding. Beef wellington is a must try. Good value wine list and menu.
