Amazing best food
Very good but stick to the beef and sushi/sashimi
Always fabulous food in the nice environment with good service.
Delicious food, cosy and quiet place, service simply outstanding. Besides being on the pricey side, we would definitely go back as the overall experience was absolutely worth every penny. Thanks to all staff and amazing chefs.
Have been many times. Amazing food and excellent service!
not the best service, specially for the price they charge.
Repeat customer. Great food and presentation. Highly recommend.
Very authentic Japanese cuisine with very polite and friendly staff. Perfect combination for a couple who love Japanese food!
Lead waiter was not friendly at all. After we said we wanted to water for the table, he took away the drink menu assuming we don't want anything else.
The bento box is almost all veggie…menu says it has wagyu but apparently not
Unfortunately I did not find the taste to my liking... I found some dishes were too bland, others too "westernised" for my taste. All in all I think food was good, just not to my liking... I am sure others will feel different.
The small plate box is definitely a signature product, that itself is worth the experience.
I did not appreciate having to chase the waiters several times for drinks ordered that were late, This was not pleasant at all as I was entertaining and important business guest, and these kind of issues put a dent to the experience.
Overall, I thought the dinner to be overpriced despite the good ambience and refined presentation.
Enjoyed our lunch, well looked after by the staff. Bento box food was good, but not in any way outstanding. A very satisfactory experience, although I doubt we will be rushing back.
Started off well, but ended in disappointment.
We came here for our 5th anniversary,
upon arrival the restaurant was pretty much empty. Started off with 2 starters, chefs special - a soup dish and the sea urchin and toro dish. Starters came out pretty prompt and the sea urchin and toro dish was nice. Half an hour in and the restaurant is fully booked, so now we’re just waiting for our mains. My partner ordered the wagyu steak and I ordered their infamous Hakozen box. My partners main has arrived and the waiter informs me that my main will arrive shortly, whilst my partner is eating, all customers are receiving their box whilst I’m sat there watching my partner eat. 30 minutes in, my partner has finished his meal and I’m still yet to receive my box, at this point I’m annoyed because I’m hungry and everyone ordered after us but still received their box before me. We ended up cancelling my main and leaving. Staff were not apologetic and they also had the audacity to keep the main that I did not receive on my bill.
Restaurant is really small, a customer kept walking in and out the restaurant causing my partner to constantly tuck his chair in so he can walk past. We felt like the staff treated us differently as we weren’t dressed as wealthy as others. What upset me the most is that I only came for the Hakazen bento but I didn’t receive it. Ended up in shakeshack because I was still hungry.
The lunchbox was amazing and very good value with the special offer. However, I was expecting much better service. Instead, we were hugely rushed and felt like we were treated as children rather than guests. It felt more like being at a Chinese roast duck vendor rather than a high-end Japanese restaurant. Nothing wrong with the former but this place was setting a different expectation.
The best and most authentic sushi and love beef in London. Intimate and welcoming - Engawa is a small gem.
Early pre theatre dinner. Beautiful food (we had the dinner box) and fun cocktail list. Managed in my large power wheelchair as it has a riser function. Food tasted as good as it looked. Will happily return.
Came for the wagyu, gladly didn’t disappoint! It melts in your mouth, so good!
Exceptional food. Couldn't fault it. We had the 5 course and the 3 course tasting menus. You don't get much more for the 5 course so recommend going for the 3 course, it's the perfect amount of food.
Engawa is simply awesome from the moment we stepped through the door.
The sommelier was kind, thoughtful and knowledgeable. We did drinks pairing with our Omakase dinner.
Food was beautifully presented and every morsel had its own umami.
We will be back.
Thank you for a very memorable evening.
While I recognise that we made a reservation for the last lunch slot available, I hadn't expected to be "rushed" from start to finish - including having one of the lunch boxes removed while the other guest was still eating and then to find the restaurant being literally closed around us.
Very friendly and attentive staff and beautiful and delicious food!
I didnt know there was 50% going on for bento box. The quality was literally 20 pounds worth. I would rather pay 50 to get better food. Avoid
Food was very good. Presentation was spot on. I was running super late and I called them up they was willing to save me the spot. Thank you for having me.
The kinda old lady in short hair with bangs was super rude.
Service is excellent and the food is good but the selection that offered seems way pricier for the 14 assorted bento for normal price of £50. I
Food was ok, however it didn’t reach my expectations
As buys as always, book in advance is the best recommendation
As soon as I arrived, I was told this table needs to be returned to us by 13:30 which was in 90 min. I never reserve any restaurants that have 90 mins rules. If they have these silly rules, they have to say that before booking. I know they are doing 50% off bento lunch deals, but their service and food value was 50% off or less. It was like a ridiculously expensive fast food store. My friends and I totally agreed we won't come back and not recommend engawa to anybody.
Birthday for my friend
Delicious quality food, friendly and efficient staff. Can't wait to go again one day.
Excellent food and service. Really treat for the family
Bento box was delicious and nice. Service was very good and not bad small place.
Lovely, well presented and thoughtful Japanese food served by wonderful team of staff.
I used the promotion of £25 for a lunch set, which was really good value.
Best meal u have ever had. The space is really nice it’s small so it’s intimate. The tasting menu is outstanding. Each course was delicious and a complete experience. I cannot wait to visit again.
they set my on the bar, right in front of chef's table. the cutting knife was pointing to me until i asked them to remove it. the food was so so, not that fresh as they looked. overall, a good concept, but not authentic food
Amazing food and great service. Not a large restaurant so seatings are a bit compact. Also they were strict about the 1.5 hrs table but we were able to move to the bar area to finish the drinks.
What an idyllic gem hidden away next to the Ham Yard hotel. Impressed with the presentation of the bento boxes and the food was beyond delicious!
A small dining restaurant but service is excellent and the Tiered Hakozen Bento Box is amazing, it's worth a try.
I went for the Omakase 5 course menu. Definitely recommend. Great food and the dashi was fantastic. Black cod was amazing.
I'd also recommend going to the same pairing but make sure you specify you want the 5 course premium pairing if you are having the 5 course Omakase meal.
Also I don't think I'll ever look at non Japanese wines the same. I'd be so tempted to move over the SHIRAKABEGURA MIO forever, if it wasn't £42 a bottle from elsewhere. Amazing but a bit too expensive to drink at home all the time. But I do think I'll replace one of my Christmas day wines for this.
Managed to get a lunchtime table and got the 14 assortment box for half price which runs until the end of October at the moment. Very nice and well presented, left us stuffed and would definitely go again. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, would recommend!
