Duck fat fries were wonderful as always! Ordered French Onion soup and was very disappointed. Lots of short rib in it (which was good) but the broth was very weak and had almost no flavor. Expected a lot more flavor and/or bigger portion for $9.99. Chicken and waffle was also a mixture of good and bad. Waffle was excellent but chicken was way over cooked and breading was dark and bitter. I picked it off and at the chicken inside. Wife’s meatloaf was way too dense with not much flavor. Will probably be back at some point but more than likely only for duck fat fries and milkshakes

The food was excellent, as always. Our waiter was wonderful. Highly recommend the pancakes with the cherry compote or the waffle.

We had a reservation and was seated immediately. We dined during Frederick Restaurant Week so there was a special fixed price menu in addition to the regular menu. I ordered from the fixed price menu and my husband ordered from the regular menu. Both meals were very good. My lamb chops were a little over done but still tasty. The beet and strawberry tartare was amazing. The deconstructed lemon meringue pie was wonderful. My husband had the Nashville hot chicken and it was very good. He would have liked more hot sauce for the chicken. All in all, we enjoyed our meal immensely.

A friend and I had lunch here and the place was packed at 12noon, so having the reservation was a good thing. The food was fantastic and filling, but we saved room for dessert anyway. The noise level is a little high due to the acoustics of the place and the number of people, and the only view you get from the booths is of a rather large parking lot and an industrial looking neighborhood. (Parking is plentiful by the way.) Otherwise, this is a great place for either foodie or family.

I think the the menu has good items but there is little to no flexibility in the special items. if you wanted fried chicken, you had to get the 35$ special. that
doesn’t seem necessary.
Also, i’m afraid that we
didn’t do enough to make our waitresses experience enjoyable. she showed no warmth, friendliness and never
smiled. the menu is not large and it’s got trendy selections mixed in with the food you want. good luck getting them to change your plate.

The host sat us a table near the front door that continuously was opened for deliveries on a very cold night. The waiter was aware of the situation before our food arrived and did not offer to move us to one of the many tables open at the other end of the restaurant, This resulted in an uncomfortable meal experience.

We wanted to get my widowed brother together with widowed old friend of his and have a relaxed but interesting meal. It was just the ticket!

We were seated near the bar and the back of the restaurant where the wait staff had to continuously squeeze by our table. Our waiter was not educated on the drinks. When asked a question, he responded 'I'm not old enough to drink." Wait staff should be knowledgeable of the food and drink menus. It took 30 minutes to just receive our drinks. After a slow start our food came timely and was delicious. Maybe our waiter was new or overwhelmed because he was inattentive. We had to call for him to get our check.

The table was a bit wobbly. We solved it. No big deal. Other than that the experience was perfect. Cherry pancakes, so good. And our waitress was the best.

Reservation was spot on. Friendly staff ... we had the duck fried, deviled eggs, and fried chicken - all mainstays of Family Meal and all were amazing. I get a Natty Bo everytime because it’s $2 and just cool you can get a Natty Bo pounder with a great meal. Loved it!

The service was ok, but at the beginning of our meal the restaurant was somewhat busy. I had to wait quite a while for my beverage. Surprisingly, the same thing happened the last time I went to Family Meal. We had a booth and my friend and I enjoyed spending time together and not feeling rushed. The food was nothing exceptional and the prices averaged about $15 for a lunch entree.

Family Meal is a frequent spot for me to take the family for dinner. The food is always great and offers more upscale options for adults and a kid friendly menu as well.

Food was delicious. We reserved a table and were seated in a booth right next to the entrance: it's just TOO cold there, and we wound up at the bar, again.

Service was fairly slow. They said the owner came in unexpectedly and that set off some energy. That’s great the owner came in but 1. I didn’t see him (and I would’ve recognized him) and 2. He’s likely not paying you... wouldn’t you want the paying customers to have an equally pleasant dining experience? We waited almost 45 minutes for our food when we ordered almost immediately. We asked for dressing and sauces on the side for 2 meals and neither request was made. Asked for separate checks, he grabbed the CCs and ran off before we could tell him which cards were for which party. Overall not the best experience at Family Meal.

Best oatmeal in town! Never had a bad meal there. Host/Hostess desk can be improved in terms of service but overall, it’s an exceptional breakfast spot.

Family at Family Meal. Celebrating my family being here and my son and his girlfriend moving back! We started with Family Meal’s insanely good duck fat fries with the special sauces. Then we all had various salads with either salmon or chicken - roasted vegetable and beet and Mediterranean- all wonderful. My younger son loved his braised beef rib. I ordered roasted vegetables too. Black Forest trifle - yummmmmm for dessert!! Great meal! The best In Family I’m so grateful to have!

We’ve enjoyed other Bryan Voltaggio restaurants and finally made it to this one. Definitely worth the drive from the DC suburbs—top quality meal at a reasonable price.

Our food was god but nor memorable. My Nashville chicken sandwich was perfectly cooked and crisp but had no heat and only modest flavors. My wife’s fried catfish lost all crunch in the sauce. I still like this place and will return.

Family Meal has been our favorite informal dining spot for years. This occasion must have been a bad day. The biscuits with the fried chicken were dry and hard. The chicken was overcooked as was the cheddar and bacon omelet. Dessert on the other hand was excellent. Noise level was loud as usual.
