As someone coming from the USA with ample access to Mexican food, I was excited to try Mezcal as it is very close to my University. The staff were amazing. Incredibly friendly and happy to help us with whatever we needed. The food was hot, full of flavor, great portion sizes, and served quickly. Drinks were delicious! We really enjoyed the margaritas as well as the Hibiscus Old Fashioned. I ordered the Chicken Tinga Quesadilla, and I will definitely be back for another! The proportions of cheese and chicken were perfect. We ordered a side of the rice and unfortunately were a bit disappointed. It was lacking the tomato and spices that usually give Mexican Rice its delicious flavor. While It was nice to add to our entrees, it was not flavorful enough to eat on its own. One thing that I would love to see added to the menu is salsa. The chips and pico were good, but it would have been really nice to have salsa to eat with our entrees. My friend and I ordered sides of pico to eat with our quesadillas and not only was it not the salsa replacement we were looking for, the price of £4 for a side of pico de gallo seemed a bit overpriced. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal at Mezcal and I will definitely be back. Given how new the restaurant is, I am sure that things will only continue to grow and get better over time. I can't wait to see what the future holds!
