Nestling in the heart of the beautiful Kentish Weald-the Garden of England, the Star and Eagle Hotel is located in the village of Goudhurst. Standing over 400ft above sea level, there are outstanding views of the surrounding orchards and hop gardens for which the area is renowned. Dating back to the 14th century, the Star and Eagle has played a significant role in the local history, and was once reputed to have been an ancient monastery. Relics of the vaulted stonework of the period are still visible in some parts of the building. During the 18th century the Inn became the headquarters of the "Hawkhurst Gang", who robbed and terrorised the surrounding district, and planned smuggling raids. A lovely place to go for lunch with my family and dog. We sat outside in the garden and it felt as though we were on holiday. There's plenty of shade, bowls of water for the dog and the food was fantastic. Really nice friendly staff. We will definitely be coming back.

Had a great roast dinner here, the quality of the food was brilliant. The cauliflower cheese was on a different level and. All freshly prepared. Will go back and try the normal menu soon!! Great choice of beers on and 3 real ales. The staff were great too

From beginning to finish was absolutely amazing experience! Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable what they doing ! Food was spot on and delicious paired with some of my favorite chapel down wines ! Can recommend this place 100%
